Samuel 5:5-9

In HebronH2275 he reignedH4427 overH5921 JudahH3063 sevenH7651 yearsH8141 and sixH8337 monthsH2320, and in JerusalemH3389 he reignedH4427 thirty-threeH7970H7969 yearsH8141 overH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063.

Now the kingH4428 and his menH582 marchedH1980 to JerusalemH3389 againstH413 the JebusitesH2983 who inhabitedH3427 the landH776. The Jebusites saidH559 to DavidH1732: “You will neverH3808 get inH935 hereH2008. EvenH3588H518 the blindH5787 and lameH6455H559 can repel youH5493.” For they thoughtH559, “DavidH1732 cannotH3808 get inH935 hereH2008.”

Nevertheless, DavidH1732 capturedH3920 the fortressH4686 of ZionH6726 (that isH1931, the CityH5892 of DavidH1732). 8On thatH1931H3605 dayH3117 he saidH559, “Whoever attacksH5221 the JebusitesH2983 must use the water shaftH6794 to reachH5060 the lameH6455 and blindH5787 who are despisedH8130H5315 by DavidH1732.1” That is whyH5921H3651 it is saidH559, “The blindH5787 and the lameH6455 will neverH3808 enterH935H413 the palaceH1004.”

So DavidH1732 took up residenceH3427 in the fortressH4686 and calledH7121 it the CityH5892 of DavidH1732. HeH1732 built it upH1129 all the way aroundH5439, fromH4480 the supporting terracesH44072 inwardH1004.
