2 Samuel 8
(1 Chronicles 18:1–13; Psalm 60:1–12)
1Some time laterH1961H310H3651, DavidH1732 defeatedH5221 the PhilistinesH6430, subdued themH3665, and tookH3947H1732 Metheg-ammahH49651 from the handH3027 of the PhilistinesH6430.
2David also defeatedH5221 the MoabitesH4124, made them lie downH7901 on the groundH776, and measured them offH4058 with a cordH2256. He measured offH4058 with twoH8147 lengthsH2256 those to be put to deathH4191, and with oneH4393 lengthH2256 those to be sparedH2421. So the MoabitesH4124 becameH1961 subjectH5650 to DavidH1732 and brought himH5375 tributeH4503.
3DavidH1732 also defeatedH5221 HadadezerH1909 sonH1121 of RehobH7340, kingH4428 of ZobahH6678, who had marched outH1980 to restoreH7725 his dominionH3027 along the Euphrates RiverH5104.2 4DavidH1732 capturedH3920 from himH4480 a thousandH505 chariots, sevenH7651 thousandH3967 charioteersH6571,3 and twentyH6242 thousandH505 foot soldiersH376H7273, and heH1732 hamstrungH6131 allH3605 the horsesH7393H4480 except a hundredH3967 he keptH3498 for the chariotsH7393.
5When the ArameansH758 of DamascusH1834 cameH935 to helpH5826 KingH4428 HadadezerH1909 of ZobahH6678, DavidH1732 struck downH5221 twenty-twoH6242H8147 thousandH505 ofH758 their menH376. 6Then heH1732 placedH7760 garrisonsH5333 in AramH758 of DamascusH1834, and the ArameansH758 becameH1961 subjectH5650 to DavidH1732 and brought himH5375 tributeH4503. So the LORDH3068 made DavidH1732 victoriousH3467 whereverH3605 he wentH1980.
7And DavidH1732 tookH3947 the goldH2091 shieldsH7982 thatH834 belongedH1961 toH413 the officersH5650 of HadadezerH1909 and brought themH935 to JerusalemH3389. 8And from BetahH9844 and BerothaiH1268, citiesH5892 of HadadezerH1909, KingH4428 DavidH1732 tookH3947 a largeH3966 amountH7235 of bronzeH5178.
9When KingH4428 ToiH85835 of HamathH2574 heardH8085 thatH3588 DavidH1732 had defeatedH5221 the entireH3605 armyH2428 of HadadezerH1909, 10heH8583 sentH7971 his sonH1121 JoramH31416 to greetH7592 KingH4428 DavidH1732 and bless himH7965H1288 forH5921 fightingH3898 and defeatingH5221 HadadezerH1909, who had beenH1961 at warH4421 with ToiH8583. Joram broughtH1961 with himH3027 articlesH3627 of silverH3701 andH3627 goldH2091 andH3627 bronzeH5178, 11andH1571 KingH4428 DavidH1732 dedicatedH6942 theseH853 to the LORDH3068, along withH5973 the silverH3701 and goldH2091 he had dedicatedH6942 from allH3605 the nationsH1471 he had subduedH3533— 12from EdomH7587 and MoabH4124, from the AmmonitesH1121H5983 and PhilistinesH6430 and AmalekitesH6002, and from the spoilH7998 of HadadezerH1909 sonH1121 of RehobH7340, kingH4428 of ZobahH6678.
13And DavidH1732 madeH6213 a name for himselfH8034 when he returnedH7725 from striking downH5221 eighteenH8083H6240 thousandH505 EdomitesH7588 in the Valley of SaltH1516H4417. 14He placedH7760 garrisonsH5333 throughoutH3605 EdomH123, and allH3605 the EdomitesH123H7760H5333 wereH1961 subjectH5650 to DavidH1732. So the LORDH3068 made DavidH1732 victoriousH3467 whereverH3605 he wentH1980.

16JoabH3097 sonH1121 of ZeruiahH6870 was overH5921 the armyH6635; JehoshaphatH3092 sonH1121 of AhiludH286 was the recorderH2142; 17ZadokH6659 sonH1121 of AhitubH285 and AhimelechH288 sonH1121 of AbiatharH54 were priestsH3548; SeraiahH83049 was the scribeH5608; 18BenaiahH1141 sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077 was over the CherethitesH3774 and PelethitesH6432; and David’sH1732 sonsH1121 wereH1961 priestly leadersH3548.10
