1The visionחֲז֖וֹןcha.ZonH2377of Obadiahעֹֽבַדְיָ֑ה'oad.YahH5662.Thus saithאָמַר֩'a.MarH559the Lordאֲדֹנָ֨י'a.do.NaiH136Godיְהוִ֜הYah.wehH3069concerning Edomלֶאֱד֗וֹםle.'e.DomH123;We have heardשָׁמַ֜עְנוּsha.Ma'.nuH8085a rumourשְׁמוּעָ֨הshe.mu.'AhH8052from the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,and an ambassadorוְצִיר֙ve.TzirH6735is sentשֻׁלָּ֔חshu.LachH7971among the heathenבַּגּוֹיִ֣םba.go.YimH1471,Ariseק֛וּמוּKu.muH6965ye, and let us rise upוְנָק֥וּמָהve.na.Ku.mahH6965against her in battleלַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃la.mil.cha.MahH4421.

2Behold, I have madeנְתַתִּ֖יךָne.ta.Ti.khaH5414thee smallקָטֹ֛ןka.TonH6996among the heathenבַּגּוֹיִ֑םba.go.YimH1471:thou art greatlyמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966despisedבָּז֥וּיba.ZuiH959.

3The prideזְד֤וֹןze.DonH2087of thine heartלִבְּךָ֙li.be.KhaH3820hath deceivedהִשִּׁיאֶ֔ךָhi.shi.'E.khaH5377thee, thou that dwellestשֹׁכְנִ֥יsho.khe.NiH7931in the cleftsבְחַגְוֵי־ve.chag.vei-H2288of the rockסֶּ֖לַעSe.la'H5553,whose habitationH3427ishighמְר֣וֹםme.RomH4791;that saithאֹמֵ֣ר'o.MerH559in his heartבְּלִבּ֔וֹbe.li.BoH3820,Who shall bring me downיוֹרִדֵ֖נִיyo.ri.De.niH3381to the groundאָֽרֶץ׃'A.retzH776?

4Though thou exaltתַּגְבִּ֣יהַּtag.Bi.ahH1361thyselfas the eagleכַּנֶּ֔שֶׁרka.Ne.sherH5404,and though thou setשִׂ֣יםsimH7760thy nestקִנֶּ֑ךָki.Ne.chaH7064among the starsכּֽוֹכָבִ֖יםko.kha.VimH3556,thence will I bring thee downאוֹרִֽידְךָ֖'o.ri.de.KhaH3381,saithנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

5If thievesגַּנָּבִ֤יםga.na.VimH1590cameבָּאֽוּ־ba.'u-H935to thee, if robbersשׁ֣וֹדְדֵיSho.deiH7703by nightלַ֔יְלָהLay.lahH3915, (how art thou cut offנִדְמֵ֔יתָהnid.Mei.tahH1820!)would they not have stolenיִגְנְב֖וּyig.ne.VuH1589till they had enoughדַּיָּ֑םdai.YamH1767?if the grapegatherersבֹּֽצְרִים֙bo.tze.RimH1219cameבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935to thee, would they not leaveיַשְׁאִ֥ירוּyash.'I.ruH7604somegrapesעֹלֵלֽוֹת׃o.le.LotH5955?

6How are the thingsof Esauעֵשָׂ֔ו'e.SavH6215searched outנֶחְפְּשׂ֣וּnech.pe.SuH2664! howare his hiddenמַצְפֻּנָֽיו׃matz.pu.NavH4710things sought upנִבְע֖וּniv.'UH1158!

7All the menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582of thy confederacyבְרִיתֶ֔ךָve.ri.Te.khaH1285have broughtשִׁלְּח֗וּךָshi.le.Chu.khaH7971thee evento the borderהַגְּב֣וּלha.ge.VulH1366:the menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582that were at peaceשְׁלֹמֶ֑ךָshe.lo.Me.khaH7965with thee have deceivedהִשִּׁיא֛וּךָhi.shi.'U.khaH5377thee, andprevailedיָכְל֥וּya.khe.LuH3201against thee; they that eatthy breadלַחְמְךָ֗lach.me.KhaH3899have laidיָשִׂ֤ימוּya.Si.muH7760a woundמָזוֹר֙ma.zOrH4204under thee: there isnone understandingתְּבוּנָ֖הte.vu.NahH8394in him.

8Shall I not in that dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117,saithנְאֻםne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,even destroyוְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֤יve.ha.'a.vad.TiH6the wiseחֲכָמִים֙cha.kha.MimH2450menout of Edomמֵֽאֱד֔וֹםme.'e.DomH123,and understandingוּתְבוּנָ֖הu.te.vu.NahH8394out of the mountמֵהַ֥רme.HarH2022of Esauעֵשָֽׂו׃'e.SavH6215?

9And thy mightyגִבּוֹרֶ֖יךָgi.bo.Rei.khaH1368men,O Temanתֵּימָ֑ןtei.ManH8487,shall be dismayedוְחַתּ֥וּve.cha.TuH2865,to the end that every oneאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376of the mountמֵהַ֥רme.HarH2022of Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215may be cut offיִכָּֽרֶת־yi.ka.ret-H3772by slaughterמִקָּֽטֶל׃mi.Ka.telH6993.

10For thyviolenceמֵחֲמַ֛סme.cha.MasH2555against thy brotherאָחִ֥יךָ'a.Chi.khaH251Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290shameבוּשָׁ֑הvu.ShahH955shall coverתְּכַסְּךָ֣te.kha.se.KhaH3680thee, and thou shalt be cut offוְנִכְרַ֖תָּve.nikh.Ra.taH3772for everלְעוֹלָֽם׃le.'o.LamH5769.

11In the dayבְּיוֹם֙be.yOmH3117that thou stoodestעֲמָֽדְךָ֣'a.ma.de.KhaH5975on the other side, in the dayבְּי֛וֹםbe.YomH3117that the strangersזָרִ֖יםza.RimH2114carried away captiveשְׁב֥וֹתshe.VotH7617his forcesחֵיל֑וֹchei.LoH2428,and foreignersוְנָכְרִ֞יםve.na.khe.RimH5237enteredבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935into his gatesשְׁעָרָ֗יוsha.'a.rovH8179,and castיַדּ֣וּya.DuH3032lotsגוֹרָ֔לgo.RalH1486upon Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ye.ru.sha.LimH3389, even thou wastas oneכְּאַחַ֥דke.'a.ChadH259of them.

12But thou shouldest not have lookedתֵּ֤רֶאTe.re'H7200on the dayבְיוֹם־ve.yom-H3117of thy brotherאָחִ֙יךָ֙'a.Chi.khaH251in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117that he became a strangerנָכְר֔וֹna.khe.RoH5235;neither shouldest thou have rejoicedתִּשְׂמַ֥חtis.MachH8055over the childrenלִבְנֵֽי־liv.nei-H1121of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of their destructionאָבְדָ֑ם'a.ve.DamH6;neither shouldest thou have spokenפִּ֖יךָPi.khaH6310proudlyתַּגְדֵּ֥לtag.DelH1431in the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117of distressצָרָֽה׃tza.RahH6869.

13Thou shouldest not have enteredתָּב֤וֹאta.Vo'H935into the gateבְשַֽׁעַר־ve.sha.'ar-H8179of my peopleעַמִּי֙'a.MiH5971in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of their calamityאֵידָ֔ם'ei.DamH343;yea, thou shouldest not have lookedתֵּ֧רֶאTe.re'H7200on their afflictionבְּרָעָת֖וֹbe.ra.'a.ToH7451in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of their calamityאֵיד֑וֹ'ei.DoH343,nor have laidתִּשְׁלַ֥חְנָהtish.Lach.nahH7971handson their substanceבְחֵיל֖וֹve.chei.LoH2428in the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117of their calamityאֵידֽוֹ׃'ei.DoH343;

14Neither shouldest thou have stoodתַּעֲמֹד֙ta.'a.ModH5975in the crosswayהַפֶּ֔רֶקha.Pe.rekH6563,to cut offלְהַכְרִ֖יתle.hakh.RitH3772those of his that did escapeפְּלִיטָ֑יוpe.li.TavH6412;neither shouldest thou have delivered upתַּסְגֵּ֥רtas.GerH5462those of his that did remainשְׂרִידָ֖יוse.ri.DavH8300in the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117of distressצָרָֽה׃tza.RahH6869.

15For the dayיוֹם־yom-H3117of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068isnearקָר֥וֹבka.RovH7138upon all the heathenהַגּוֹיִ֑םha.go.YimH1471:as thou hast doneעָשִׂ֙יתָ֙'a.Si.taH6213,it shall be doneיֵעָ֣שֶׂהye.'A.sehH6213unto thee: thy rewardגְּמֻלְךָ֖ge.mul.KhaH1576shall returnיָשׁ֥וּבya.ShuvH7725upon thine own headבְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃be.ro.She.khaH7218.

16For as ye have drunkשְׁתִיתֶם֙she.ti.TemH8354upon my holyקָדְשִׁ֔יkod.shiH6944mountainהַ֣רharH2022, soshall all the heathenהַגּוֹיִ֖םha.go.YimH1471drinkיִשְׁתּ֥וּyish.TuH8354continuallyתָּמִ֑ידta.MidH8548,yea, they shall drinkוְשָׁת֣וּve.sha.TuH8354,and they shall swallow downוְלָע֔וּve.la.'UH3886,and they shall be as though they had notכְּל֥וֹאke.Lo'H3808been.

17But upon mountוּבְהַ֥רu.ve.HarH2022Zionצִיּ֛וֹןtzi.YonH6726shall be deliveranceפְלֵיטָ֖הfe.lei.TahH6413,and there shall be holinessקֹ֑דֶשׁKo.deshH6944;and the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Jacobיַֽעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290shall possessוְיָֽרְשׁוּ֙ve.ya.re.ShuH3423their possessionsמוֹרָֽשֵׁיהֶם׃mo.Ra.shei.hemH4180.

18And the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of Jacobיַעֲקֹ֨בya.'a.KoH3290shall be a fireאֵ֜שׁ'eshH784,and the houseוּבֵ֧יתu.VeitH1004of Josephיוֹסֵ֣ףyo.SefH3130a flameלֶהָבָ֗הle.ha.VahH3852,and the houseוּבֵ֤יתu.VeitH1004of Esauעֵשָׂו֙'e.SavH6215for stubbleלְקַ֔שׁle.KashH7179,and they shall kindleוְדָלְק֥וּve.dal.KuH1814in them, and devourוַאֲכָל֑וּםva.'a.kha.LumH398them; and there shall not be anyremainingשָׂרִיד֙sa.RidH8300of the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of Esauעֵשָׂ֔ו'e.SavH6215;for the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068hath spokenדִּבֵּֽר׃di.BerH1696it.

19And they ofthe southהַנֶּ֜גֶבha.Ne.gevH5045shall possessוְיָרְשׁ֨וּve.ya.re.ShuH3423the mountהַ֣רharH2022of Esauעֵשָׂ֗ו'e.SavH6215; and they ofthe plainוְהַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ve.ha.she.fe.LahH8219the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430:and they shall possessוְיָרְשׁוּ֙ve.ya.re.ShuH3423the fieldsשְׂדֵ֣הse.DehH7704of Ephraimאֶפְרַ֔יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669,and the fieldsשְׂדֵ֣הse.DehH7704of Samariaשֹׁמְר֑וֹןsho.me.RonH8111:and Benjaminוּבִנְיָמִ֖ןu.vin.ya.MinH1144shall possessGileadהַגִּלְעָֽד׃ha.gil.'AdH1568.

20And the captivityוְגָלֻ֣תve.ga.LutH1546of this hostהַֽחֵל־ha.chel-H2426of the childrenלִבְנֵ֨יliv.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לYis.ra.'ElH3478shall possessthat of the Canaanitesכְּנַעֲנִים֙ke.na.'a.NimH3669, evenunto Zarephathצָ֣רְפַ֔תtza.re.FatH6886;and the captivityוְגָלֻ֥תve.ga.LutH1546of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֖םye.ru.sha.LimH3389, which isin Sepharadבִּסְפָרַ֑דbis.fa.RadH5614,shall possessיִֽרְשׁ֕וּyir.ShuH3423the citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892of the southהַנֶּֽגֶב׃ha.Ne.gevH5045.

21And savioursמֽוֹשִׁעִים֙mo.shi.'ImH3467shall come upוְעָל֤וּve.'a.LuH5927on mountבְּהַ֣רbe.HarH2022Zionצִיּ֔וֹןtzi.YonH6726to judgeלִשְׁפֹּ֖טlish.PotH8199the mountהַ֣רharH2022of Esauעֵשָׂ֑ו'e.SavH6215;and the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָֽה׃ha.me.lu.KhahH4410shall be the Lord’sלַֽיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.
