1Then allכָּל־kol-H3605the Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒be.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478from Danלְמִדָּן֙le.mi.DanH1835toוְעַד־ve.'ad-H5704BeershebaH884and from the landוְאֶ֖רֶץve.'E.retzH776of Gileadהַגִּלְעָ֑דha.gil.'AdH1568came outוַיֵּצְאוּ֮vai.ye.tze.'UH3318,and the congregationהָעֵדָ֜הha.'e.DahH5712assembledוַתִּקָּהֵ֨לva.ti.ka.HelH6950as oneאֶחָ֗ד'e.ChadH259manכְּאִ֣ישׁke.'IshH376beforeאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068at Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּֽה׃ha.mitz.PahH4709.
2The leadersפִּנּ֣וֹתpi.NotH6438of allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971and allכֹּ֚לkolH3605the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֣יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478presented themselvesוַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֞וּvai.yit.ya.tze.VuH3320in the assemblyבִּקְהַ֖לbik.HalH6951of God’sהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430peopleעַ֣ם'amH5971:400,000אַרְבַּ֨ע מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֛לֶף'ar.Ba' me.'ot 'E.lefH702H3967H505menאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376on footרַגְלִ֖יrag.LiH7273,armedשֹׁ֥לֵֽףSho.lefH8025with swordsחָֽרֶב׃ פCha.revH2719.
3(Meanwhile the Benjamitesבְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֔ןbe.Nei vin.ya.MinH1121H1144heardוַֽיִּשְׁמְעוּ֙vai.yish.me.'UH8085thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Israelitesבְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖לve.nei- Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478had gone upעָל֥וּ'a.LuH5927to Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֑הha.mitz.PahH4709.)And the Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478askedוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559, “Tellדַּבְּר֕וּda.be.RuH1696us, howאֵיכָ֥ה'ei.KhahH349did thisהַזֹּֽאת׃ha.ZotH2063wicked thingהָרָעָ֥הha.ra.'AhH7451happenנִהְיְתָ֖הnih.ye.TahH1961?”
4So the Leviteהָאִ֣ישׁ הַלֵּוִ֗יha.'Ish ha.le.ViH3881H376,the husbandאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376of the murderedהַנִּרְצָחָ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑רha.nir.tza.Chah vai.yo.MarH7523H559womanהָאִשָּׁ֥הha.'i.ShahH802,answeredוַיַּ֜עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030: “Iאֲנִ֥י'a.NiH589and my concubineוּפִֽילַגְשִׁ֖יu.fi.lag.ShiH6370cameבָּ֛אתִיBa.tiH935to Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֙תָה֙ha.giv.'A.tahH1390אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834in Benjaminלְבִנְיָמִ֔ןle.vin.ya.MinH1144to spend the nightלָלֽוּן׃la.LunH3885.
5And during the nightלָ֑יְלָהLa.ye.lahH3915,the menבַּעֲלֵ֣יba.'a.LeiH1167of Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֔הha.giv.'AhH1390rose upוַיָּקֻ֤מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965against meעָלַי֙'a.LaiH5921and surroundedוַיָּסֹ֧בּוּ עָלַ֛יvai.ya.So.bu 'a.LaiH5437H5921אֶת־'et-H853the houseהַבַּ֖יִתha.Ba.yitH1004אוֹתִי֙'o.TiH853.They intendedדִּמּ֣וּdi.MuH1819to kill meלַהֲרֹ֔גla.ha.RogH2026וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,but they abusedעִנּ֖וּ'i.NuH6031my concubineפִּילַגְשִׁ֥יpi.lag.ShiH6370,and she diedוַתָּמֹֽת׃va.ta.MotH4191.
6Then I tookוָֽאֹחֵ֤זva.'o.ChezH270my concubineבְּפִֽילַגְשִׁי֙be.fi.lag.ShiH6370,cut her into piecesוָֽאֲנַתְּחֶ֔הָva.'a.na.te.Che.haH5408,and sent herוָֽאֲשַׁלְּחֶ֔הָva.'a.sha.le.Che.haH7971throughoutבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the landשְׂדֵ֖הse.DehH7704of Israel’sיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478inheritanceנַחֲלַ֣תna.cha.LatH5159,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588they had committedעָשׂ֛וּ'a.SuH6213a lewdזִמָּ֥הzi.MahH2154and disgraceful actוּנְבָלָ֖הu.ne.va.LahH5039in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
8Then allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971stoodוַיָּ֙קָם֙vai.Ya.komH6965as oneאֶחָ֖ד'e.ChadH259manכְּאִ֥ישׁke.'IshH376and saidלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Not oneלֹ֤א אִ֣ישׁlo' 'ishH3808H376of us will returnנֵלֵךְ֙ne.leKhH1980to his tentלְאָהֳל֔וֹ וְלֹ֥אle.'o.ho.Lo ve.Lo'H168H3808orנָס֖וּר אִ֥ישׁna.Sur 'ishH5493H376to his houseלְבֵיתֽוֹ׃le.vei.ToH1004.
10We will takeוְלָקַ֣חְנוּve.la.Kach.nuH3947tenעֲשָׂרָה֩'a.sa.RahH6235menאֲנָשִׁ֨ים'a.na.ShimH582out of every hundredלַמֵּאָ֜הla.me.'AhH3967from allלְכֹ֣ל׀le.KholH3605the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֣יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and a hundredוּמֵאָ֤הu.me.'AhH3967out of every thousandלָאֶ֙לֶף֙la.'E.lefH505,and a thousandוְאֶ֣לֶףve.'E.lefH505out of every ten thousandלָרְבָבָ֔הla.re.va.VahH7233,to supplyלָקַ֥חַתla.Ka.chatH3947provisionsצֵדָ֖הtze.DahH6720for the armyלָעָ֑םla.'AmH5971when they goלְבוֹאָם֙le.vo.'AmH935to Gibeahלְגֶ֣בַעle.Ge.va'H1387in Benjaminבִּנְיָמִ֔ןbin.ya.MinH1144to punish themלַעֲשׂ֗וֹתla.'a.SotH6213for the atrocityכְּכָל־ הַ֨נְּבָלָ֔הke.khol- ha.ne.va.LahH3605H5039אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834they have committedעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.”
12And the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֤יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478sentוַֽיִּשְׁלְח֞וּvai.yish.le.ChuH7971menאֲנָשִׁ֔ים'a.na.ShimH582throughoutבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the tribeשִׁבְטֵ֥יshiv.TeiH7626of Benjaminבִנְיָמִ֖ןvin.ya.MinH1144,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Whatמָ֚הmahH4100is thisהַזֹּ֔אתha.ZotH2063wickednessהָרָעָ֣הha.ra.'AhH7451thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834has occurredנִהְיְתָ֖הnih.ye.TahH1961among you?
13וְעַתָּ֡הve.'a.TahH6258Hand overתְּנוּ֩te.NuH5414אֶת־'et-H853הָאֲנָשִׁ֨יםha.'a.na.ShimH582the wickedבְלִיַּ֜עַלve.li.Ya.'alH1100menH1121אֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834of Gibeahבַּגִּבְעָה֙ba.giv.'AhH1390so we can put them to deathוּנְמִיתֵ֔םu.ne.mi.TemH4191and purgeוּנְבַעֲרָ֥הu.ne.va.'a.RahH1197Israelמִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֑לmi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478of this evilרָעָ֖הra.'AhH7451.”But the Benjamitesבִּנְיָמִ֔ןbin.ya.MinH1144refusedוְלֹ֤א אָבוּ֙בְּנֵ֣יve.Lo' 'a.Vu'a.Vu//be.neibe.neiH14H3808to heedלִשְׁמֹ֕עַlish.Mo.a'H8085the voiceבְּק֖וֹלbe.KolH6963of their fellowאֲחֵיהֶ֥ם'a.chei.HemH251Israelitesיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478.
14And fromמִן־min-H4480their citiesהֶעָרִ֖יםhe.'a.RimH5892theyבְנֵֽי־ בִנְיָמִ֛ןve.nei- vin.ya.MinH1121H1144came togetherוַיֵּאָסְפ֧וּvai.ye.'a.se.FuH622at Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֑תָהha.giv.'A.tahH1390to go outלָצֵ֥אתla.TzetH3318and fightלַמִּלְחָמָ֖הla.mil.cha.MahH4421againstעִם־'im-H5973the Israelitesבְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478.
