2Now there wasוַיְהִי֩vay.HiH1961aאֶחָ֧ד'e.ChadH259manאִ֨ישׁ'ishH376from Zorahמִצָּרְעָ֛הmi.tza.re.'AhH6881namedוּשְׁמ֣וֹu.she.MoH8034Manoahמָנ֑וֹחַma.No.achH4495,from the clanמִמִּשְׁפַּ֥חַתmi.mish.Pa.chatH4940of the Danitesהַדָּנִ֖יha.da.NiH1839,whose wifeוְאִשְׁתּ֥וֹve.'ish.ToH802wasbarrenעֲקָרָ֖ה'a.ka.RahH6135and had noוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808childrenיָלָֽדָה׃ya.La.dahH3205.
3The angelמַלְאַךְ־mal.'akh-H4397of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068appearedוַיֵּרָ֥אvai.ye.Ra'H7200toאֶל־'el-H413the womanהָאִשָּׁ֑הha.'i.ShahH802and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to herאֵלֶ֗יהָ'e.Lei.haH413, “It is trueהִנֵּה־ נָ֤אhi.neh- na'H2009H4994that youאַתְּ־'at-H859are barrenעֲקָרָה֙'a.ka.RahH6135and have noוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808childrenיָלַ֔דְתְּya.LadtH3205;but you will conceiveוְהָרִ֖יתve.ha.RitH2029and give birth toוְיָלַ֥דְתְּve.ya.LadtH3205a sonבֵּֽן׃BenH1121.
5Forכִּי֩kiH3588beholdהִנָּ֨ךְhi.NakhH2009,you will conceiveהָרָ֜הha.RahH2030and give birth toוְיֹלַ֣דְתְּve.yo.LadtH3205a sonבֵּ֗ןBenH1121.And noלֹא־lo'-H3808razorוּמוֹרָה֙u.mo.RahH4177shall touchיַעֲלֶ֣ה עַל־ya.'a.Leh 'al-H5927H5921his headרֹאשׁ֔וֹro.ShoH7218,becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588the boyהַנַּ֖עַרha.Na.'arH5288will beיִהְיֶ֥הyih.YehH1961a Naziriteנְזִ֧ירne.ZirH5139to Godאֱלֹהִ֛ים'E.lo.HimH430fromמִן־min-H4480the wombהַבָּ֑טֶןha.Ba.tenH990,and heוְה֗וּאve.Hu'H1931will beginיָחֵ֛לya.ChelH2490the deliveranceלְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַle.ho.Shi.a'H3467אֶת־'et-H853of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478from the handמִיַּ֥דmi.YadH3027of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃pe.lish.TimH6430.”
6So the womanהָאִשָּׁ֗הha.'i.ShahH802wentוַתָּבֹ֣אva.ta.Vo'H935and toldוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559her husbandלְאִישָׁהּ֮ לֵאמֹר֒le.'i.Shah le.MorH376H559, “A manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430cameבָּ֣אba'H935to meאֵלַ֔י'e.LaiH413.His appearance was likeוּמַרְאֵ֕הוּu.mar.'E.huH4758כְּמַרְאֵ֛הke.mar.'EhH4758the angelמַלְאַ֥ךְmal.'AkhH4397of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,exceedinglyמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966awesomeנוֹרָ֣אno.Ra'H3372.I did notוְלֹ֤אve.Lo'H3808ask himשְׁאִלְתִּ֙יהוּ֙she.'il.Ti.huH7592whereאֵֽי־'ei-H335he came fromמִזֶּ֣הmi.ZehH2088ה֔וּאHu'H1931וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,and he did notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808tellהִגִּ֥ידhi.GidH5046mehis nameשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034.
7But he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, ‘Beholdהִנָּ֥ךְhi.NakhH2009,you will conceiveהָרָ֖הha.RahH2030and give birth toוְיֹלַ֣דְתְּve.yo.LadtH3205a sonבֵּ֑ןBenH1121.Now, thereforeוְעַתָּ֞הve.'a.TahH6258,do notאַל־'al-H408drinkתִּשְׁתִּ֣י׀tish.TiH8354wineיַ֣יִןYa.yinH3196or strong drinkוְשֵׁכָ֗רve.she.KharH7941,and do notוְאַל־ve.'al-H408eatתֹּֽאכְלִי֙to.khe.LiH398anythingכָּל־kol-H3605uncleanטֻמְאָ֔הtum.'AhH2932,becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588the boyהַנַּ֔עַרha.Na.'arH5288will beיִהְיֶ֣הyih.YehH1961a Naziriteנְזִ֤ירne.ZirH5139to Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430fromמִן־min-H4480the wombהַבֶּ֖טֶןha.Be.tenH990untilעַד־'ad-H5704the dayי֥וֹםYomH3117of his deathמוֹתֽוֹ׃ פmo.ToH4194.’”
8Then Manoahמָנ֛וֹחַma.No.achH4495prayedוַיֶּעְתַּ֥רvai.ye'.TarH6279toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068וַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “Pleaseבִּ֣יbiH994,O Lordאֲדוֹנָ֔י'a.do.NaiH136,let the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֞יםha.'E.lo.HimH430אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834You sent usשָׁלַ֗חְתָּsha.Lach.taH7971comeיָבוֹא־ נָ֥אya.Vo'- na'H935H4994to usאֵלֵ֔ינוּ'e.Lei.nuH413againעוֹד֙'OdH5750to teach usוְיוֹרֵ֕נוּve.yo.Re.nuH3384howמַֽה־mah-H4100to raiseנַּעֲשֶׂ֖הna.'a.SehH6213the boyלַנַּ֥עַרla.Na.'arH5288who is to be bornהַיּוּלָּֽד׃hai.yu.LadH3205.”
9And Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430listenedוַיִּשְׁמַ֥עvai.yish.Ma'H8085to the voiceבְּק֣וֹלbe.KolH6963of Manoahמָנ֑וֹחַma.No.achH4495,and the angelמַלְאַךְ֩mal.'aKhH4397of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֨יםha.'E.lo.HimH430returnedוַיָּבֹ֣א ע֜וֹדvai.ya.Vo' odH935H5750toאֶל־'el-H413the womanהָאִשָּׁ֗הha.'i.ShahH802as sheוְהִיא֙ve.Hi'H1931was sittingיוֹשֶׁ֣בֶתyo.She.vetH3427in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶ֔הba.sa.DehH7704;but her husbandאִישָׁ֖הּ'i.ShahH376Manoahוּמָנ֥וֹחַu.ma.No.achH4495was notאֵ֥ין'einH369with herעִמָּֽהּ׃'i.MahH5973.
10The womanלְאִישָׁ֑הּle.'i.ShahH376ranוַתָּ֖רָץ וַתַּגֵּ֣דva.Ta.rotz va.ta.GedH7323H5046quicklyוַתְּמַהֵר֙va.te.ma.HerH4116to tellוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559אֵלָ֔יו'e.LavH413her husbandהָֽאִשָּׁ֔הha.'i.ShahH802, “Beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009,the manהָאִ֔ישׁha.'IshH376whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834cameבָּ֥אba'H935to meאֵלַי֙'e.LaiH413the other dayבַיּ֖וֹםvai.YomH3117has reappearedנִרְאָ֤ה אֵלָֽי׃nir.'Ah 'e.LaiH7200H413!”
11So Manoahמָנ֖וֹחַma.No.achH4495got upוַיָּ֛קָםvai.Ya.komH6965and followedוַיֵּ֥לֶךְ אַחֲרֵ֣יvai.Ye.lekh 'a.cha.ReiH1980H310his wifeאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ'ish.ToH802.When he cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413the manהָאִ֔ישׁha.'IshH376,he askedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Are youהַאַתָּ֥הha.'a.TahH859the manהָאִ֛ישׁha.'IshH376whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834spokeדִּבַּ֥רְתָּdi.Bar.taH1696toאֶל־'el-H413my wifeהָאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802?” “Iאָֽנִי׃'A.niH589am,” he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559.
12Then Manoahמָנ֔וֹחַma.No.achH4495askedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whenעַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH6258your wordsדְבָרֶ֑יךָde.va.Rei.khaH1697come to passיָבֹ֣אya.Vo'H935,whatמַה־mah-H4100will beיִּֽהְיֶ֥הyih.YehH1961the boy’sהַנַּ֖עַרha.Na.'arH5288rule of lifeמִשְׁפַּט־mish.pat-H4941and missionוּמַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃u.ma.'a.Se.huH4639?”
13So the angelמַלְאַ֥ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֖ה אֶל־Yah.weh 'el-H3068H413answeredוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Manoahמָנ֑וֹחַma.No.achH4495, “Your wifeהָאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802is to doתִּשָּׁמֵֽר׃ti.sha.MerH8104everythingמִכֹּ֛לmi.KolH3605אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I told herאָמַ֥רְתִּי אֶל־'a.Mar.ti 'el-H559H413.
14She must notלֹ֣אlo'H3808eatתֹאכַ֗לto.KhalH398anythingמִכֹּ֣לmi.KolH3605thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834comesיֵצֵא֩ye.Tze'H3318from the vineמִגֶּ֨פֶן הַיַּ֜יִןmi.Ge.fen hai.Ya.yinH1612H3196,nor drinkתֵּ֔שְׁתְּTe.shetH8354any wineוְיַ֤יִןve.Ya.yinH3196or strong drinkוְשֵׁכָר֙ve.she.KharH7941,norאַל־'al-H408eatתֹּאכַ֑לto.KhalH398anythingוְכָל־ve.kholH3605uncleanטֻמְאָ֖ה אַל־tum.'Ah 'al-H2932H408.She must doתִּשְׁמֹֽר׃tish.MorH8104everythingכֹּ֥לkolH3605אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I have commanded herצִוִּיתִ֖יהָtzi.vi.Ti.haH6680.”
15“Pleaseנָּ֣אna'H4994stay hereנַעְצְרָה־na'.tze.rah-H6113אוֹתָ֔ךְ'o.TakhH853,”Manoahמָנ֖וֹחַ אֶל־ma.No.ach 'el-H4495H413saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the angelמַלְאַ֣ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “and we will prepareוְנַעֲשֶׂ֥הve.na.'a.SehH6213a young goatגְּדִ֥י עִזִּֽים׃ge.Di 'i.ZimH1423H5795for youלְפָנֶ֖יךָle.fa.Nei.khaH6440.”
16And the angelמַלְאַ֨ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068repliedוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559אֶל־'el-H413מָנ֗וֹחַma.No.achH4495, “Even ifאִם־'im-H518I stayתַּעְצְרֵ֙נִי֙ta'.tze.Re.niH6113,I will notלֹא־lo'-H3808eatאֹכַ֣ל'o.KhalH398your foodבְּלַחְמֶ֔ךָbe.lach.Me.khaH3899.But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518you prepareתַּעֲשֶׂ֣הta.'a.SehH6213a burnt offeringעֹלָ֔ה'o.LahH5930,offer itתַּעֲלֶ֑נָּהta.'a.Le.nahH5927to the LORDלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.”Forכִּ֚יkiH3588Manoahמָנ֔וֹחַ כִּֽי־ma.No.ach ki-H4495H3588did notלֹא־lo'-H3808knowיָדַ֣עya.Da'H3045thatitהֽוּא׃Hu'H1931wasthe angelמַלְאַ֥ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068.
17Then Manoahמָנ֛וֹחַma.No.achH4495saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413the angelמַלְאַ֥ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068, “Whatמִ֣יmiH4310is your nameשְׁמֶ֑ךָshe.Me.khaH8034,so thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588we may honor youוְכִבַּדְנֽוּךָ׃ve.khi.bad.Nu.khaH3513when your wordדְבָרְךָ֖div.rei.khaH1697comes to passיָבֹ֥אya.Vo'H935?”
19Then Manoahמָנ֜וֹחַma.No.achH4495אֶת־'et-H853tookוַיִּקַּ֨חvai.yi.KachH3947a young goatגְּדִ֤י הָעִזִּים֙ge.Di ha.'i.ZimH1423H5795וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and a grain offeringהַמִּנְחָ֔הha.min.ChahH4503and offered themוַיַּ֥עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927onעַל־'al-H5921a rockהַצּ֖וּרha.TzurH6697to the LORDלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.And as Manoahוּמָנ֥וֹחַu.ma.No.achH4495and his wifeוְאִשְׁתּ֖וֹve.'ish.ToH802looked onרֹאִֽים׃ro.'ImH7200,the LORD didלַעֲשׂ֔וֹתla.'a.SotH6213a marvelous thingוּמַפְלִ֣אu.maf.Li'H6381.
20וַיְהִי֩vay.HiH1961When the flameהַלַּ֜הַבha.La.havH3851went upבַעֲל֨וֹתva.'a.LotH5927fromמֵעַ֤לme.'AlH5921the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ha.miz.Be.achH4196to the skyהַשָּׁמַ֔יְמָהha.sha.May.mahH8064,the angelמַלְאַךְ־mal.'akh-H4397of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068ascendedוַיַּ֥עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927in theהַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַha.miz.Be.achH4196flameבְּלַ֣הַבbe.La.havH3851.When Manoahוּמָנ֤וֹחַu.ma.No.achH4495and his wifeוְאִשְׁתּוֹ֙ve.'ish.ToH802sawרֹאִ֔יםro.'ImH7200this,they fellוַיִּפְּל֥וּvai.yi.pe.LuH5307facedownעַל־ פְּנֵיהֶ֖ם'al- pe.nei.HemH5921H6440to the groundאָֽרְצָה׃'A.re.tzahH776.
21And when the angelמַלְאַ֣ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068did notוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808appearלְהֵרָאֹ֖הle.he.ra.'OhH7200againיָ֤סַף עוֹד֙Ya.saf 'OdH3254H5750toאֶל־'el-H413Manoahמָנ֣וֹחַma.No.achH4495andוְאֶל־ve.'el-H413his wifeאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ'ish.ToH802אָ֚ז'azH227,Manoahמָנ֔וֹחַma.No.achH4495realizedיָדַ֣עya.Da'H3045thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588itהֽוּא׃Hu'H1931had beenthe angelמַלְאַ֥ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068.
23But his wifeאִשְׁתּ֗וֹ'ish.ToH802repliedוַתֹּ֧אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Ifלוּ֩luH3863the LORDיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068had intendedחָפֵ֨ץcha.FetzH2654to kill usלַהֲמִיתֵ֙נוּ֙la.ha.mi.Te.nuH4191,He would notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808have acceptedלָקַ֤חla.KachH3947the burnt offeringעֹלָ֣ה'o.LahH5930and the grain offeringוּמִנְחָ֔הu.min.ChahH4503from our handsמִיָּדֵ֙נוּ֙mi.ya.De.nuH3027,nor would Heוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808have shownהֶרְאָ֖נוּher.'A.nuH7200usאֶת־'et-H853allכָּל־kol-H3605these thingsאֵ֑לֶּה'E.lehH428or spokenהִשְׁמִיעָ֖נוּhish.mi.'A.nuH8085to usוְכָעֵ֕ת לֹ֥אve.kha.'Et lo'H6256H3808this wayכָּזֹֽאת׃ka.ZotH2063.”
24So the womanהָֽאִשָּׁה֙ha.'i.ShahH802gave birth toוַתֵּ֤לֶדva.Te.ledH3205a sonבֵּ֔ןBenH1121and namedוַתִּקְרָ֥אva.tik.Ra'H7121אֶת־'et-H853himשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034Samsonשִׁמְשׁ֑וֹןshim.ShonH8123.The boyהַנַּ֔עַרha.Na.'arH5288grewוַיִּגְדַּ֣לvai.yig.DalH1431,and the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068blessed himוַֽיְבָרְכֵ֖הוּvay.va.re.Khe.huH1288.
