3Now there wereהָי֥וּha.YuH1961fourוְאַרְבָּעָ֧הve.'ar.ba.'AhH702menאֲנָשִׁ֛ים'a.na.ShimH582with leprosyמְצֹרָעִ֖יםme.tzo.ra.'ImH6879at the entranceפֶּ֣תַחPe.tachH6607of the city gateהַשָּׁ֑עַרha.Sha.'arH8179,and they saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559toאֶל־'el-H413oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376anotherרֵעֵ֔הוּre.'E.huH7453, “Whyמָ֗ה אֲנַ֛חְנוּMah 'a.Nach.nuH4100 H587just sitיֹשְׁבִ֥יםyo.she.VimH3427hereפֹּ֖הpohH6311untilעַד־'ad-H5704we dieמָֽתְנוּ׃Ma.te.nuH4191?

4Ifאִם־'im-H518we sayאָמַרְנוּ֩'a.mar.NuH559, ‘Let us go intoנָב֨וֹאna.Vo'H935the cityהָעִ֜ירha.'IrH5892,’we will dieוָמַ֣תְנוּva.Mat.nuH4191thereשָׁ֔םShamH8033from the famineוְהָרָעָ֤בve.ha.ra.'AvH7458in the cityבָּעִיר֙ba.'IrH5892;but ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518we sitיָשַׁ֥בְנוּya.Shav.nuH3427hereפֹ֖הfohH6311,we will also dieוָמָ֑תְנוּva.Ma.te.nuH4191.So comeלְכוּ֙le.KhuH1980nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258,let us go overוְנִפְּלָה֙ve.ni.pe.LahH5307toאֶל־'el-H413the campמַחֲנֵ֣הma.cha.NehH4264of the Arameansאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758.Ifאִם־'im-H518they let us liveיְחַיֻּ֣נוּye.chai.Yu.nuH2421,we will liveנִֽחְיֶ֔הnich.YehH2421;ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518they kill usיְמִיתֻ֖נוּye.mi.Tu.nuH4191,we will dieוָמָֽתְנוּ׃va.Ma.te.nuH4191.”

5So they aroseוַיָּק֣וּמוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965at twilightבַנֶּ֔שֶׁףva.Ne.shefH5399and wentלָב֖וֹאla.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413the campמַחֲנֵ֣הma.cha.NehH4264of the Arameansאֲרָ֑ם'a.RamH758.But when they cameוַיָּבֹ֗אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935toעַד־'ad-H5704the outskirtsקְצֵה֙ke.TzehH7097of the campמַחֲנֵ֣ה אֲרָ֔םma.cha.Neh 'a.RamH4264 H758,there was notאֵֽין־'ein-H369a manאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376to be foundוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009שָׁ֖םshamH8033.

6For the Lordוַאדֹנָ֞יva.do.NaiH136had caused the Arameansמַחֲנֵ֣ה אֲרָ֗םma.cha.Neh 'a.RamH758 H4264to hearהִשְׁמִ֣יעַ׀hish.Mi.a'H8085אֶת־'et-H853the soundק֥וֹלKolH6963of chariotsרֶ֙כֶב֙ ק֣וֹלre.khev KolH7393 H6963,horsesס֔וּס ק֖וֹלSus KolH5483 H6963,and a greatגָּד֑וֹלga.DolH1419armyחַ֣יִלCha.yilH2428,so that they saidוַיֹּאמְר֞וּvai.yo.me.RuH559toאֶל־'el-H413oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376anotherאָחִ֗יו'a.ChivH251, “Lookהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009עָלֵינוּ֩'a.lei.NuH5921,the kingמֶ֨לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לYis.ra.'ElH3478אֶת־'et-H853must have hiredשָֽׂכַר־sa.khar-H7936the kingsמַלְכֵ֧יmal.KheiH4428of the Hittitesהַחִתִּ֛יםha.chi.TimH2850andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853מַלְכֵ֥יmal.KheiH4428Egyptiansמִצְרַ֖יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714to attackלָב֥וֹאla.Vo'H935usעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921.”

7Thus the Arameans had arisenוַיָּקוּמוּ֮vai.ya.ku.MuH6965and fledוַיָּנ֣וּסוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127at twilightבַנֶּשֶׁף֒va.ne.ShefH5399,abandoningוַיַּעַזְב֣וּvai.ya.'az.VuH5800אֶת־'et-H853their tentsאָהֳלֵיהֶ֗ם'o.ho.lei.HemH168andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853horsesסֽוּסֵיהֶם֙su.sei.HemH5483andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853donkeysחֲמֹ֣רֵיהֶ֔םcha.Mo.rei.HemH2543.The camp was intactהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖הha.ma.cha.NehH4264כַּאֲשֶׁר־ka.'a.Sher-H834הִ֑יאHi'H1931,and they had runוַיָּנֻ֖סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127forאֶל־'el-H413their livesנַפְשָֽׁם׃naf.ShamH5315.

8When theהָאֵ֜לֶּהha.'E.lehH428lepersהַֽמְצֹרָעִ֨יםham.tzo.ra.'ImH6879reachedוַיָּבֹאוּ֩ עַד־vai.ya.vo.'U 'ad-H935 H5704the edgeקְצֵ֣הke.TzehH7097of the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֗הha.ma.cha.NehH4264,they wentוַיָּבֹ֜אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935intoאֶל־'el-H413aאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259tentאֹ֤הֶל'O.helH168to eatוַיֹּאכְל֣וּvai.yo.khe.LuH398and drinkוַיִּשְׁתּ֔וּvai.yish.TuH8354.Then they carried offוַיִּשְׂא֣וּ מִשָּׁ֗םvai.yis.'U mi.ShamH5375 H8033the silverכֶּ֤סֶףKe.sefH3701,goldוְזָהָב֙ve.za.HavH2091,and clothingוּבְגָדִ֔יםu.ve.ga.DimH899,and wentוַיֵּלְכ֖וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980and hidוַיַּטְמִ֑נוּvai.yat.Mi.nuH2934them.On returningוַיָּשֻׁ֗בוּvai.ya.Shu.vuH7725,they enteredוַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ אֶל־vai.ya.Vo.'u 'el-H935 H413anotherאַחֵ֔ר'a.CherH312tentאֹ֣הֶל'O.helH168,carried offוַיִּשְׂא֣וּvai.yis.'UH5375some itemsfrom thereמִשָּׁ֔ם וַיֵּלְכ֖וּmi.Sham vai.ye.le.KhuH8033 H1980,and hid themוַיַּטְמִֽנוּ׃vai.yat.Mi.nuH2934.
