16Then Elisha saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559to the kingלְמֶ֣לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “Putהַרְכֵּ֤בhar.KevH7392your handיָֽדְךָ֙ya.de.KhaH3027onעַל־'al-H5921the bowהַקֶּ֔שֶׁתha.Ke.shetH7198.”So the king putוַיַּרְכֵּ֖בvai.yar.KevH7392his hand onיָד֑וֹya.DoH3027the bow,and Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֛ע'e.li.Sha'H477putוַיָּ֧שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760his handsיָדָ֖יוya.DavH3027onעַל־'al-H5921the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428handsיְדֵ֥יye.DeiH3027.

17“Openפְּתַ֧חpe.TachH6605the eastקֵ֖דְמָהKe.de.mahH6924windowהַחַלּ֛וֹןha.cha.LonH2474,”said Elishaוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559.So he openedוַיִּפְתָּ֑חvai.yif.TachH6605itand Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֤ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Shootיְרֵה֙ye.RehH3384!”So he shotוַיּ֔וֹרvai.YorH3384.And Elisha declaredוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559: “This is the LORD’sלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068arrowחֵץ־chetz-H2671of victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֤הte.shu.'AhH8668,the arrowוְחֵ֣ץve.ChetzH2671of victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֣הte.shu.'AhH8668over Aramבַֽאֲרָ֔םva.'a.RamH758,for you shall strikeוְהִכִּיתָ֧ve.hi.ki.TaH5221אֶת־'et-H853the Arameansאֲרָ֛ם'a.RamH758in Aphekבַּאֲפֵ֖קba.'a.FekH663untilעַד־'ad-H5704you have put an end to themכַּלֵּֽה׃ka.LehH3615.”

18Then Elisha saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Takeקַ֥חkachH3947the arrowsהַחִצִּ֖יםha.chi.TzimH2671!”So he tookוַיִּקָּ֑חvai.yi.KachH3947them,and Elisha saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the kingלְמֶֽלֶךְ־le.Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478, “Strikeהַךְ־hakh-H5221the groundאַ֔רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776!”So he struckוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221the ground threeשָֽׁלֹשׁ־sha.losh-H7969timesפְּעָמִ֖יםpe.'a.MimH6471and stoppedוַֽיַּעֲמֹֽד׃Vai.ya.'a.ModH5975.

19But the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֗יםha.'E.lo.HimH430was angryוַיִּקְצֹ֨ףvai.yik.TzofH7107with himעָלָ֜יו'a.LavH5921and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “You should have struckלְהַכּ֨וֹתle.ha.KotH5221the ground fiveחָמֵ֤שׁcha.MeshH2568orאוֹ־'ov-H176sixשֵׁשׁ֙sheshH8337timesפְּעָמִ֔יםpe.'a.MimH6471.Thenאָ֛ז'azH227you would have struck downהִכִּ֥יתָhi.Ki.taH5221אֶת־'et-H853Aramאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758untilעַד־'ad-H5704you had put an end to itכַּלֵּ֑הka.LehH3615.But nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258you will strike downתַּכֶּ֥הta.KehH5221אֶת־'et-H853Aramאֲרָֽם׃ ס'a.RamH758onlythreeשָׁלֹ֥שׁsha.LoshH7969timesפְּעָמִ֖יםpe.'a.MimH6471.”

20And Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֖ע'e.li.Sha'H477diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191and was buriedוַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֑הוּvai.yik.be.Ru.huH6912.Now the Moabiteמוֹאָ֛בmo.'AvH4124raidersוּגְדוּדֵ֥יu.ge.du.DeiH1416used to comeיָבֹ֥אוּya.Vo.'uH935into the landבָאָ֖רֶץva.'A.retzH776every springבָּ֥א שָׁנָֽה׃ba' sha.NahH935 H8141.

21Onceוַיְהִ֞יvay.HiH1961,as the Israelitesהֵ֣ם׀hemH1992were buryingקֹבְרִ֣יםkoe.RimH6912a manאִ֗ישׁ'IshH376,suddenlyוְהִנֵּה֙ve.hi.NehH2009they sawרָא֣וּra.'UH7200אֶֽת־'et-H853a bandהַגְּד֔וּדha.ge.DudH1416of raiders,so they threwוַיַּשְׁלִ֥יכוּvai.yash.Li.khuH7993אֶת־'et-H853the man’s bodyהָאִ֖ישׁha.'IshH376into Elisha’sאֱלִישָׁ֑ע וַיֵּ֜לֶךְ'e.li.Sha' vai.Ye.lekhH477 H1980tombבְּקֶ֣בֶרbe.Ke.verH6913.And as soon as his body touchedוַיִּגַּ֤עvai.yi.Ga'H5060the bonesבְּעַצְמ֣וֹתbe.'atz.MotH6106of Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477,the manהָאִישׁ֙ha.'IshH376was revivedוַיְחִ֖יvay.ChiH2421and stoodוַיָּ֥קָםvai.Ya.komH6965up onעַל־'al-H5921his feetרַגְלָֽיו׃ פrag.LavH7272.

22And Hazaelוַֽחֲזָאֵל֙va.cha.za.'ElH2371kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aramאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758oppressedלָחַ֖ץla.ChatzH3905אֶת־'et-H853Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478throughoutכֹּ֖לkolH3605the reignיְמֵ֥יye.MeiH3117of Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָֽז׃ye.ho.'a.ChazH3059.

23But the LORDיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068was graciousוַיָּחָן֩vai.ya.ChanH2603toאֹתָ֤ם'o.TamH854Israeland had compassion on themוַֽיְרַחֲמֵם֙vay.ra.cha.MemH7355,and He turnedוַיִּ֣פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437toward themאֲלֵיהֶ֔ם'a.lei.HemH413because ofלְמַ֣עַןle.Ma.'anH4616His covenantבְּרִית֔וֹbe.ri.ToH1285withאֶת־'et-H854Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֖ם'av.ra.HamH85,Isaacיִצְחָ֣קyitz.ChakH3327,and Jacobוְיַֽעֲקֹ֑בve.ya.'a.KoH3290.And toעַד־'ad-H5704this dayעָֽתָּה׃'A.tahH6258, the LORDhas been unwillingוְלֹ֤א אָבָה֙ve.Lo' 'a.VahH3808 H14to destroy themהַשְׁחִיתָ֔םhash.chi.TamH7843orוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808cast themהִשְׁלִיכָ֥םhish.li.KhamH7993fromמֵֽעַל־me.'al-H5921His presenceפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440.

24When Hazaelחֲזָאֵ֣לcha.za.'ElH2371kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָ֑ם'a.RamH758diedוַיָּ֖מָתvai.Ya.motH4191,his sonבְּנ֖וֹbe.NoH1121Ben-hadadH1130reignedוַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427in his placeתַּחְתָּֽיו׃tach.TavH8478.

25Then Jehoashיְהוֹאָ֣שׁye.ho.'AshH3060sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָ֗זye.ho.'a.ChazH3059tookוַיִּקַּ֤חvai.yi.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853backוַיָּ֜שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725fromמִיַּד֙mi.YadH3027Ben-hadadH1130sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Hazaelחֲזָאֵ֔לcha.za.'ElH2371the citiesהֶֽעָרִים֙he.'a.RimH5892thatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834Hazael had takenלָקַ֗חla.KachH3947in battleבַּמִּלְחָמָ֑הba.mil.cha.MahH4421fromמִיַּ֛דmi.YadH3027his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָ֥זye.ho.'a.ChazH3059.Jehoashיוֹאָ֔שׁyo.'AshH3101defeatedהִכָּ֣הוּhi.Ka.huH5221Ben-hadad threeשָׁלֹ֤שׁsha.LoshH7969timesפְּעָמִים֙pe.'a.MimH6471,and so recoveredוַיָּ֖שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725אֶת־'et-H853the citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פYis.ra.'ElH3478.
