25Then Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֧םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379אֶת־'et-H853builtוַיִּ֨בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129Shechemשְׁכֶ֛םshe.KhemH7927in the hill countryבְּהַ֥רbe.HarH2022of Ephraimאֶפְרַ֖יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669and lived thereוַיֵּ֣שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427. And fromthereמִשָּׁ֔םmi.ShamH8033he went outוַיֵּצֵ֣אvai.ye.Tze'H3318and builtוַיִּ֖בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129אֶת־'et-H853Penuelפְּנוּאֵֽל׃pe.nu.'ElH6439.

26Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559in his heartבְּלִבּ֑וֹbe.li.BoH3820, “Nowעַתָּ֛ה'a.TahH6258the kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָ֖הha.mam.la.KhahH4467might revertתָּשׁ֥וּבta.ShuvH7725to the houseלְבֵ֥יתle.VeitH1004of Davidדָּוִֽד׃da.VidH1732.

28After seeking adviceוַיִּוָּעַ֣ץvai.yi.va.'AtzH3289,the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428madeוַיַּ֕עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213twoשְׁנֵ֖יshe.NeiH8147goldenזָהָ֑בza.HavH2091calvesעֶגְלֵ֣י'eg.LeiH5695and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the peopleאֲלֵהֶ֗ם'a.le.HemH413, “Going upמֵעֲל֣וֹתme.'a.LotH5927to Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֔םye.ru.sha.LimH3389is too muchרַב־rav-H7227for you.Hereהִנֵּ֤הhi.NehH2009,O Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,are your godsאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834brought you upהֶעֱל֖וּךָhe.'e.Lu.khaH5927out of the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.”

29Oneהָאֶחָ֖דha.'e.ChadH259calfhe set upוַיָּ֥שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760אֶת־'et-H853in BethelH1008וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853, andנָתַ֥ןna.TanH5414the otherהָאֶחָ֖דha.'e.ChadH259in Danבְּדָֽן׃be.DanH1835.

30And thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697becameוַיְהִ֛יvay.HiH1961a sinלְחַטָּ֑אתle.cha.TatH2403;the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971walkedוַיֵּלְכ֥וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980as far asעַד־'ad-H5704Danדָּֽן׃DanH1835to worshipbeforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440oneהָאֶחָ֖דha.'e.ChadH259of the calves.

31Jeroboam also builtוַיַּ֖עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213אֶת־'et-H853shrinesבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004on the high placesבָּמ֑וֹתba.MotH1116and appointedוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213from every classמִקְצ֣וֹתmik.TzotH7098of peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971priestsכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ko.ha.NimH3548whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834wereהָי֖וּha.YuH1961notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808Levitesמִבְּנֵ֥י לֵוִֽי׃mi.be.Nei le.ViH1121 H3878.
