Hosea 8
American Standard Version
1Setthe trumpetH7782 to thy mouthH2441. As an eagleH5404 he cometh against the houseH1004 of Jehovah, because they have transgressedH6586 my covenantH1285, and trespassed against my lawH8451. 2They shall cryH2199 unto me, My GodH430, we IsraelH3478 knowH3045 thee. 3IsraelH3478 hath cast off that which is goodH2896: the enemyH341 shall pursueH7291 him. 4They have set up kings, but not by me; they have madeH6213 princes, and I knewH3045 it not: of their silverH3701 and their goldH2091 have they madeH6213 them idolsH6091, that they may be cutH3772 off. 5He hath cast off thy calfH5695, O SamariaH8111; mine angerH639 is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency? 6For from IsraelH3478 is even this; the workman madeH6213 it, and it is no GodH430; yea, the calfH5695 of SamariaH8111 shall beH1961 broken in pieces. 7For they sowH2232 the windH7307, and they shall reapH7114 the whirlwind: he hath no standingH7054 grainH7054; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangersH2114 shall swallowH1104 it up.
8IsraelH3478 is swallowedH1104 up: nowH6258 are they among the nationsH1471 as a vesselH3627 wherein none delighteth. 9For they are goneH5927 up to AssyriaH804, like a wildH6501 ass alone by himself: EphraimH669 hath hired lovers. 10Yea, though they hire among the nationsH1471, nowH6258 will I gatherH6908 them; and they beginH2490 to be diminished by reason of the burdenH4853 of the kingH4428 of princesH8269.
11Because EphraimH669 hath multipliedH7235 altarsH4196 for sinningH2398, altarsH4196 have beenH1961 unto him for sinningH2398. 12I wroteH3789 for him the tenH7239 thousandH7239 things of my lawH8451; but they are counted as a strangeH2114 thing. 13As for the sacrificesH2077 of mine offerings, they sacrificeH2077 fleshH1320 and eatH398 it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: nowH6258 will he rememberH2142 their iniquityH5771, and visitH6485 their sinsH2403; they shall returnH7725 to EgyptH4714. 14For IsraelH3478 hath forgottenH7911 his Maker, and builded palaces; and JudahH3063 hath multipliedH7235 fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892: but I will sendH7971 a fireH784 upon his citiesH5892, and it shall devourH398 the castles thereof.
