Hosea 7
American Standard Version
1When I would healH7495 IsraelH3478, then is the iniquityH5771 of EphraimH669 uncoveredH1540, and the wickednessH7451 of SamariaH8111; for they commit falsehoodH8267, and the thiefH1590 entereth in, and the troopH1416 of robbers ravageth without. 2And they consider not in their heartsH3824 that I rememberH2142 all their wickednessH7451: nowH6258 have their own doings beset them about; they are before my faceH6440. 3They makeH8055 the kingH4428 gladH8055 with their wickednessH7451, and the princesH8269 with their lies. 4They are all adulterersH5003; they are as an ovenH8574 heated by the bakerH644; he ceaseth to stirH5782 the fire, from the kneadingH3888 of the doughH1217, until it be leavened. 5On the dayH3117 of our kingH4428 the princesH8269 made themselves sickH2470 with the heat of wineH3196; he stretched out his handH3027 with scoffers. 6For they have made ready their heartH3820 like an ovenH8574, while they lieH693 in waitH693: their bakerH644 sleepeth all the nightH3915; in the morningH1242 it burneth as a flamingH3852 fireH784. 7They are all hotH2552 as an ovenH8574, and devourH398 their judgesH8199; all their kingsH4428 are fallenH5307: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
8EphraimH669, he mixeth himself among the peoplesH5971; EphraimH669 is a cakeH5692 not turnedH2015. 9StrangersH2114 have devouredH398 his strengthH3581, and he knoweth it not: yea, grayH7872 hairsH7872 are here and there upon him, and he knoweth it not. 10And the prideH1347 of IsraelH3478 doth testifyH6030 to his faceH6440: yet they have not returnedH7725 unto Jehovah their GodH430, nor soughtH1245 him, for all this. 11And EphraimH669 is like a silly doveH3123, without understanding: they callH7121 unto EgyptH4714, they goH1980 to AssyriaH804. 12WhenH834 they shall goH3381, I will spreadH6566 my netH7568 upon them; I will bringH3381 them downH3381 as the birdsH5775 of the heavensH8064; I will chastise them, as their congregationH5712 hath heard. 13WoeH188 unto them! for they have wandered from me; destructionH7701 unto them! for they have trespassed against me: though I would redeemH6299 them, yet they have spokenH1696 liesH3577 against me. 14And they have not criedH2199 unto me with their heartH3820, but they howl upon their bedsH4904: they assemble themselves for grainH1715 and newH8492 wineH8492; they rebel against me. 15Though I have taught and strengthenedH2388 their armsH2220, yet do they devise mischief against me. 16They returnH7725, but not to him that is on high; they are like a deceitful bowH7198; their princesH8269 shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719 for the rage of their tongueH3956: this shall beH1961 their derision in the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
