Amos 2

American Standard Version

1ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: For threeH7969 transgressionsH6588 of MoabH4124, yea, for fourH702, I will not turnH7725 awayH7725 the punishment thereof; because he burnedH8313 the bonesH6106 of the kingH4428 of EdomH123 into limeH7875. 2But I will sendH7971 a fireH784 upon MoabH4124, and it shall devourH398 the palaces of KeriothH7152; and MoabH4124 shall dieH4191 with tumult, with shoutingH8643, and with the soundH6963 of the trumpetH7782; 3and I will cutH3772 off the judgeH8199 from the midstH7130 thereof, and will slayH2026 all the princesH8269 thereof with him, saith Jehovah.

4ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: For threeH7969 transgressionsH6588 of JudahH3063, yea, for fourH702, I will not turnH7725 awayH7725 the punishment thereof; because they have rejectedH3988 the lawH8451 of Jehovah, and have not keptH8104 his statutesH2706, and their liesH3577 have caused them to errH8582, after which their fathersH1 did walkH1980. 5But I will sendH7971 a fireH784 upon JudahH3063, and it shall devourH398 the palaces of JerusalemH3389.

6ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: For threeH7969 transgressionsH6588 of IsraelH3478, yea, for fourH702, I will not turnH7725 awayH7725 the punishment thereof; because they have soldH4376 the righteousH6662 for silverH3701, and the needyH34 for a pair of shoes— 7they that pant after the dustH6083 of the earthH776 on the headH7218 of the poorH1800, and turnH5186 asideH5186 the wayH1870 of the meek: and a manH376 and his fatherH1 go unto the same maiden, to profaneH2490 my holyH6944 nameH8034: 8and they lay themselves downH5186 beside every altarH4196 upon clothesH899 taken in pledge; and in the houseH1004 of their GodH430 they drinkH8354 the wineH3196 of such as have been fined.

9Yet destroyedH8045 I the AmoriteH567 before them, whose heightH1363 was like the heightH1363 of the cedarsH730, and he was strongH2634 as the oaksH437; yet I destroyedH8045 his fruitH6529 from above, and his rootsH8328 from beneath. 10Also I broughtH5927 you up out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and led you fortyH705 yearsH8141 in the wildernessH4057, to possessH3423 the landH776 of the AmoriteH567. 11And I raisedH6965 up of your sonsH1121 for prophetsH5030, and of your youngH1121 menH970 for NaziritesH5139. Is it not evenH637 thus, O ye children of IsraelH3478? saith Jehovah. 12But ye gave the NaziritesH5139 wineH3196 to drinkH8248, and commandedH6680 the prophetsH5030, sayingH559, ProphesyH5012 not.

13Behold, I will press you in your placeH8478, as a cartH5699 presseth that is fullH4395 of sheaves. 14And flight shall perishH6 from the swiftH7031; and the strongH2389 shall not strengthenH553 his force; neither shall the mightyH1368 deliverH4422 himself; 15neither shall he standH5975 that handleth the bowH7198; and he that is swiftH7031 of footH7272 shall not deliverH4422 himself; neither shall he that rideth the horseH5483 deliverH4422 himself; 16and he that is courageous among the mightyH1368 shall fleeH5127 away nakedH6174 in that dayH3117, saith Jehovah.
