Revised Version 1895

Genesis 4:3-15

And in process of time it cameH935 to passH935, that CainH7014 broughtH935 of the fruitH6529 of the groundH127 an offering unto the LORDH3068.

And AbelH1893, he also broughtH935 of the firstlings of his flockH6629 and of the fatH2459 thereof. And the LORDH3068 had respect unto AbelH1893 and to his offering:

but unto CainH7014 and to his offering he had notH3808 respectH6440. And CainH7014 was veryH3966 wroth, and his countenanceH6440 fellH5307.

And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto CainH7014, WhyH4100 art thou wroth? and whyH4100 is thy countenanceH6440 fallenH5307?

IfH518 thou doest wellH3190, shalt thou notH3808 be accepted? and ifH518 thou doest notH3808 wellH3190, sinH2403 coucheth at the doorH6607: and unto thee shall be his desireH8669, and thou shalt ruleH4910 over him.

And CainH7014 toldH559 AbelH1893 his brotherH251. And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when they were in the fieldH7704, that CainH7014 roseH6965 upH6965 againstH413 AbelH1893 his brotherH251, and slewH2026 him.

And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto CainH7014, WhereH335 is AbelH1893 thy brotherH251? And he saidH559, I knowH3045 notH3808: am I my brother’sH251 keeperH8104?

And he saidH559, WhatH4100 hast thou doneH6213? the voiceH6963 of thy brother’sH251 bloodH1818 crieth unto meH413 from the groundH127.

And nowH6258 cursedH779 art thou from the groundH127, whichH834 hath openedH6475 herH3947 mouthH6310 to receiveH3947 thy brother’sH251 bloodH1818 from thy handH3027;

when thou tillest the groundH776, it shall notH3808 henceforth yieldH5414 unto thee herH5414 strengthH3581; a fugitive and a wandererH5110 shalt thou be in the earthH776.

And CainH7014 saidH559 unto the LORDH3068, My punishmentH5771 is greaterH1419 thanH1419 I can bearH5375.

BeholdH2005, thou hast drivenH1644 meH6440 outH1644 this dayH3117 from the faceH6440 of the groundH776; and from thy faceH6440 shall I be hidH5641; and I shall be a fugitive and a wandererH5110 in the earthH776; and it shall comeH1961 to passH1961, that whosoever findeth meH6440 shall slayH2026 meH6440.

And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth CainH7014, vengeanceH5358 shall be takenH5358 on him sevenfoldH7659. And the LORDH3068 appointedH7760 a signH226 for CainH7014, lest anyH3605 findingH4672 him should smiteH5221 him.
