Genesis 17
Revised Version 1895
1And when AbramH87 was ninetyH8673 yearsH8141 oldH1121 and nineH8672, the LORDH3068 appearedH7200 to AbramH87, and saidH559 unto him, I am GodH410 AlmightyH7706; walkH1980 beforeH6440 meH413, and be thou perfectH8549. 2And I will makeH5414 my covenantH1285 betweenH996 meH5414 and thee, and will multiplyH7235 thee exceedinglyH3966. 3And AbramH87 fellH5307 on his faceH6440: and GodH430 talkedH1696 with him, sayingH559, 4As for meH589, beholdH2009, my covenantH1285 is with thee, and thou shalt be the fatherH1 of a multitudeH1995 of nationsH1471. 5NeitherH3808 shall thy nameH8034 anyH5750 moreH5750 be calledH7121 AbramH87, but thy nameH8034 shall be AbrahamH85; for the fatherH1 of a multitudeH1995 of nationsH1471 have I madeH5414 thee. 6And I will makeH5414 thee exceedingH3966 fruitfulH6509, and I will makeH5414 nationsH1471 of thee, and kingsH4428 shall comeH3318 outH3318 of thee. 7And I will establishH6965 my covenantH1285 betweenH996 meH310 and thee and thy seedH2233 afterH310 thee throughoutH1755 their generationsH1755 for an everlastingH5769 covenantH1285, to be a GodH430 unto thee and to thy seedH2233 afterH310 thee. 8And I will giveH5414 unto thee, and to thy seedH2233 afterH310 thee, the landH776 of thy sojourningsH4033, allH3605 the landH776 of CanaanH3667, for an everlastingH5769 possessionH272; and I will be their GodH430. 9And GodH430 saidH559 unto AbrahamH85, And as for thee, thou shalt keepH8104 my covenantH1285, thou, and thy seedH2233 afterH310 thee throughoutH1755 their generationsH1755. 10This is my covenantH1285, whichH834 ye shall keepH8104, betweenH996 meH310 and youH834 and thy seedH2233 afterH310 thee; everyH3605 maleH2145 among youH834 shall be circumcisedH4135. 11And ye shall be circumcised in the fleshH1320 of your foreskinH6190; and it shall be a token of a covenantH1285 betwixt meH1961 and youH853. 12And he that is eightH8083 daysH3117 oldH1121 shall be circumcisedH4135 among youH834, everyH3605 maleH2145 throughoutH3605 your generationsH1755, he that is bornH3211 in the houseH1004, or boughtH4736 with moneyH3701 of anyH3605 stranger, whichH834 is notH3808 of thy seedH2233. 13He that is bornH3211 in thy houseH1004, and he that is boughtH4736 with thy moneyH3701, must needsH1961 be circumcisedH4135: and my covenantH1285 shall be in your fleshH1320 for an everlastingH5769 covenantH1285. 14And the uncircumcisedH6189 maleH2145 who is notH3808 circumcisedH4135 in the fleshH1320 of his foreskinH6190, that soulH5315 shall be cutH3772 offH3772 from his peopleH5971; he hath brokenH6565 my covenantH1285. 15And GodH430 saidH559 unto AbrahamH85, As for SaraiH8297 thy wifeH802, thou shalt notH3808 callH7121 herH413 nameH8034 SaraiH8297, but SarahH8283 shall herH413 nameH8034 be. 16And I will blessH1288 herH5414, and moreoverH1571 I will giveH5414 thee a sonH1121 of herH5414: yea, I will blessH1288 herH5414, and sheH1571 shall be a mother of nationsH1471; kingsH4428 of peoplesH5971 shall be of herH5414. 17Then AbrahamH85 fellH5307 uponH5921 his faceH6440, and laughedH6711, and saidH559 in his heartH3820, Shall a childH1121 be bornH3205 unto him that is an hundredH3967 yearsH8141 oldH1121? and shall SarahH8283, that is ninetyH8673 yearsH8141 oldH1121, bearH3205? 18And AbrahamH85 saidH559 unto GodH430, OhH3863 that IshmaelH3458 might liveH2421 beforeH6440 thee! 19And GodH430 saidH559, Nay, but SarahH8283 thy wifeH802 shall bearH3205 thee a sonH1121; and thou shalt callH7121 his nameH8034 IsaacH3327: and I will establishH6965 my covenantH1285 with him for an everlastingH5769 covenantH1285 for his seedH2233 afterH310 him. 20And as for IshmaelH3458, I have heardH8085 thee: beholdH2009, I have blessedH1288 him, and will makeH5414 him fruitfulH6509, and will multiplyH7235 him exceedinglyH3966; twelveH6240 princesH5387 shall he begetH3205, and I will makeH5414 him a greatH1419 nationH1471. 21But my covenantH1285 will I establishH6965 with IsaacH3327, whichH834 SarahH8283 shall bearH3205 unto thee at this setH6965 time in the nextH312 yearH8141. 22And he leftH5927 offH5921 talkingH1696 with him, and GodH430 wentH5927 upH5927 from AbrahamH85. 23And AbrahamH85 tookH3947 IshmaelH3458 his sonH1121, and allH3605 that were bornH3211 in his houseH1004, and allH3605 that were boughtH4736 with his moneyH3701, everyH3605 maleH2145 among the menH376 of Abraham’sH85 houseH1004, and circumcisedH4135 the fleshH1320 of their foreskinH6190 in the selfsame dayH3117, as GodH430 had saidH1696 unto him. 24And AbrahamH85 was ninetyH8673 yearsH8141 oldH1121 and nineH8672, when he was circumcisedH4135 in the fleshH1320 of his foreskinH6190. 25And IshmaelH3458 his sonH1121 was thirteenH6240 yearsH8141 oldH1121, when he was circumcisedH4135 in the fleshH1320 of his foreskinH6190. 26In the selfsame dayH3117 was AbrahamH85 circumcisedH4135, and IshmaelH3458 his sonH1121. 27And allH3605 the menH376 of his houseH1004, thoseH3605 bornH3211 in the houseH1004, and thoseH3605 boughtH4736 with moneyH3701 of the stranger, were circumcisedH4135 with him.
