Genesis 21
Revised Version 1895
1And the LORDH3068 visitedH6485 SarahH8283 as he had saidH559, and the LORDH3068 didH6213 unto SarahH8283 as he had spokenH1696. 2And SarahH8283 conceivedH2029, and bare AbrahamH85 a sonH1121 in his oldH1121 ageH1121, at the setH834 time of whichH834 GodH430 had spokenH1696 to him. 3And AbrahamH85 calledH7121 the nameH8034 of his sonH1121 that was bornH3205 unto him, whomH834 SarahH8283 bare to him, IsaacH3327. 4And AbrahamH85 circumcisedH4135 his sonH1121 IsaacH3327 when he was eightH8083 daysH3117 oldH1121, as GodH430 had commandedH6680 him. 5And AbrahamH85 was an hundredH3967 yearsH8141 oldH1121, when his sonH1121 IsaacH3327 was bornH3205 unto him. 6And SarahH8283 saidH559, GodH430 hath madeH6213 meH3605 to laughH6711; everyH3605 one that heareth will laughH6711 with meH3605. 7And sheH3588 saidH559, Who would have saidH559 unto AbrahamH85, that SarahH8283 should giveH3205 childrenH1121 suckH3243? for I have borneH3205 him a sonH1121 in his oldH1121 ageH1121. 8And the childH3206 grewH1431, and was weanedH1580: and AbrahamH85 madeH6213 a greatH1419 feastH4960 on the dayH3117 that IsaacH3327 was weanedH1580. 9And SarahH8283 sawH7200 the sonH1121 of HagarH1904 the EgyptianH4713, whichH834 sheH834 had borneH3205 unto AbrahamH85, mockingH6711. 10Wherefore sheH3588 saidH559 unto AbrahamH85, CastH3423 outH3423 this bondwoman and herH559 sonH1121: for the sonH1121 of this bondwoman shall notH3808 be heirH3423 with my sonH1121, evenH3588 with IsaacH3327. 11And the thingH1697 was veryH3966 grievous in Abraham’sH85 sightH5869 on accountH5921 of his sonH1121. 12And GodH430 saidH559 unto AbrahamH85, LetH408 it notH408 be grievous in thy sightH5869 becauseH3588 of the ladH5288, and becauseH3588 of thy bondwoman; in allH3605 that SarahH8283 saith unto thee, hearken unto herH3605 voiceH6963; for in IsaacH3327 shall thy seedH2233 be calledH7121. 13And also of the sonH1121 of the bondwoman will I makeH7760 a nationH1471, becauseH3588 he is thy seedH2233. 14And AbrahamH85 roseH7925 upH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and tookH3947 breadH3899 and a bottle of waterH4325, and gaveH5414 it unto HagarH1904, puttingH5414 it on herH413 shoulderH7926, and the childH3206, and sentH7971 herH413 awayH7971: and she departed, and wanderedH8582 in the wildernessH4057 of Beer-sheba. 15And the waterH4325 in the bottle was spentH3615, and she castH7993 the childH3206 underH8478 one of the shrubs. 16And sheH3588 wentH7368, and satH3427 herH7200 downH3427 over againstH5048 him a goodH7368 way offH5375, as it were a bowshot: for sheH3588 saidH559, LetH408 meH6963 notH408 lookH7200 uponH3427 the deathH4194 of the childH3206. And sheH3588 satH3427 over againstH5048 him, and liftH5375 upH5375 herH7200 voiceH6963, and weptH1058. 17And GodH430 heardH8085 the voiceH6963 of the ladH5288; and the angelH4397 of GodH430 calledH7121 to HagarH1904 outH4480 of heavenH8064, and saidH559 unto herH413, WhatH4100 aileth thee, HagarH1904? fearH3372 notH408; for GodH430 hath heardH8085 the voiceH6963 of the ladH5288 whereH834 he is. 18AriseH6965, liftH5375 upH6965 the ladH5288, and holdH2388 him in thine handH3027; for I will makeH7760 him a greatH1419 nationH1471. 19And GodH430 openedH6491 herH7200 eyesH5869, and sheH8248 sawH7200 a wellH875 of waterH4325; and sheH8248 went, and filledH4390 the bottle with waterH4325, and gaveH8248 the ladH5288 drinkH8248. 20And GodH430 was with the ladH5288, and he grewH1431; and he dweltH3427 in the wildernessH4057, and becameH1961 an archer. 21And he dweltH3427 in the wildernessH4057 of ParanH6290: and his motherH517 tookH3947 him a wifeH802 outH3427 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 22And it cameH1961 to passH1961 at that time, that AbimelechH40 and PhicolH6369 the captainH8269 of his hostH6635 spake unto AbrahamH85, sayingH559, GodH430 is with thee in allH3605 that thou doest: 23nowH6258 therefore swearH7650 unto meH5978 hereH2008 by GodH430 that thou wilt notH518 dealH6213 falselyH8266 with meH5978, norH518 with my son, norH518 with my son’s son: but according to the kindnessH2617 that I have doneH6213 unto thee, thou shalt doH6213 unto meH5978, and to the landH776 whereinH834 thou hast sojourned. 24And AbrahamH85 saidH559, I will swearH7650. 25And AbrahamH85 reprovedH3198 AbimelechH40 becauseH5921 of the wellH875 of waterH4325, whichH834 Abimelech’sH40 servantsH5650 had violently takenH1497 awayH1497. 26And AbimelechH40 saidH559, I knowH3045 notH3808 who hath doneH6213 this thingH1697: neitherH3808 didst thou tellH5046 meH5046, neitherH3808 yet heardH8085 I of it, but todayH3117. 27And AbrahamH85 tookH3947 sheepH6629 and oxenH1241, and gaveH5414 them unto AbimelechH40; and they twoH8147 madeH3772 a covenantH1285. 28And AbrahamH85 setH5324 sevenH7651 eweH3535 lambsH3535 of the flockH6629 by themselvesH905. 29And AbimelechH40 saidH559 unto AbrahamH85, WhatH4100 mean theseH428 sevenH7651 eweH3535 lambsH3535 whichH834 thou hast setH5324 by themselvesH905? 30And he saidH559, TheseH2063 sevenH7651 eweH3535 lambsH3535 shalt thou takeH3947 of my handH3027, that it may be a witness unto meH3947, that I have digged this wellH875. 31Wherefore he calledH7121 that placeH4725 Beer-sheba; becauseH3588 there they sware bothH8147 of them. 32SoH6965 they madeH3772 a covenantH1285 at Beer-sheba: and AbimelechH40 roseH6965 upH6965, and PhicolH6369 the captainH8269 of his hostH6635, and they returnedH7725 intoH413 the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430. 33And AbrahamH5193 plantedH5193 a tamariskH815 treeH815 in Beer-sheba, and calledH7121 there on the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, the EverlastingH5769 GodH410. 34And AbrahamH85 sojourned in the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430 manyH7227 daysH3117.
