Revised Version 1895
Ezekiel 16:1-8
AgainH1961 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 unto meH413, sayingH559,
SonH1121 of manH120, cause JerusalemH3389 to knowH3045 herH3045 abominationsH8441,
and sayH559, ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 GODH136 unto JerusalemH3389: Thy birthH4138 and thy nativity is of the landH776 of the CanaaniteH3669; the AmoriteH567 was thy fatherH1, and thy motherH517 was an HittiteH2850.
And as for thy nativity, in the dayH3117 thou wast bornH3205 thy navelH8270 was notH3808 cutH3772, neitherH3808 wast thou washedH7364 in waterH4325 to cleanse thee; thou wast notH3808 salted at allH3117, norH3808 swaddled at allH3117.
NoneH3808 eyeH5869 pitied thee, to doH6213 anyH259 of theseH428 unto thee, to have compassionH2550 uponH5921 thee; but thou wast castH7993 outH6440 in the openH6440 fieldH7704, for that thy personH5315 was abhorredH1604, in the dayH3117 that thou wast bornH3205.
And when I passedH5674 by thee, and sawH7200 thee weltering in thy bloodH1818, I saidH559 unto thee, Though thou art in thy bloodH1818, liveH2421; yea, I saidH559 unto thee, Though thou art in thy bloodH1818, liveH2421.
I causedH5414 thee to multiplyH7235 as the bud of the fieldH7704, and thou didst increaseH7235 and wax greatH1431, and thou attainedst to excellent ornament; thy breastsH7699 were fashionedH3559, and thine hairH8181 was grownH1431; yet thou wast nakedH5903 and bareH6181.
NowH1961 when I passedH5674 by thee, and lookedH7200 uponH5921 thee, beholdH2009, thy time was the time of loveH1730; and I spreadH6566 my skirtH3671 over thee, and coveredH3680 thy nakednessH6172: yea, I sware unto thee, and enteredH935 intoH935 a covenantH1285 with thee, saith the LordH136 GODH136, and thou becamest mine.
