Revised Version 1895
Samuel 6:4-18
Then saidH559 they, WhatH4100 shall be the guiltH817 offering whichH834 weH3588 shall returnH7725 to him? And they saidH559, FiveH2568 goldenH2091 tumours, and fiveH2568 goldenH2091 miceH5909, according to the numberH4557 of the lordsH5633 of the PhilistinesH6430: for one plagueH4046 was on youH834 allH3605, and on your lordsH5633.
Wherefore ye shall makeH5414 imagesH6754 of your tumours, and imagesH6754 of your miceH5909 that mar the landH776; and ye shall giveH5414 gloryH3519 unto the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: peradventure he will lightenH7043 his handH3027 from offH5921 youH5414, and from offH5921 your godsH430, and from offH5921 your landH776:
Wherefore then doH4100 ye hardenH3513 your heartsH3820, as the EgyptiansH4713 and PharaohH6547 hardenedH3513 their heartsH3820? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, didH4100 they notH3808 letH7971 the peopleH834 goH7971 and they departed?
NowH6258 therefore takeH3947 and prepareH6213 youH834 a newH2319 cartH5699, and twoH8147 milchH5763 kine, on whichH834 there hath comeH5927 noH3808 yokeH5923, and tieH631 the kine to the cartH5699, and bringH7725 their calvesH1121 homeH1004 from them:
and takeH3947 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068, and layH5414 it uponH413 the cartH5699; and putH5414 the jewelsH3627 of goldH2091, whichH834 ye returnH7725 him for a guiltH817 offering, in a coffer by the sideH6654 thereof; and sendH7971 it awayH7971, that it may goH1980.
And seeH7200, ifH518 it goeth upH5927 by the wayH1870 of itsH853 ownH1961 borderH1366 to Beth-shemeshH1053, then he hath doneH6213 usH3045 this greatH1419 evilH7451: but ifH518 notH3808, then weH3588 shall knowH3045 that it is notH3808 his handH3027 that smote usH3045; it was a chanceH4745 that happenedH1961 to usH3045.
And the menH376 didH6213 soH3651; and tookH3947 twoH8147 milchH5763 kine, and tiedH631 them to the cartH5699, and shutH3607 upH853 their calvesH1121 at homeH1004:
and they putH7760 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068 uponH413 the cartH5699, and the coffer with the miceH5909 of goldH2091 and the imagesH6754 of their tumours.
And the kine tookH5493 the straightH3474 wayH1870 by the wayH1870 to Beth-shemeshH1053; they wentH1980 alongH5921 the highwayH4546, lowingH1600 as they wentH1980, and turnedH5493 notH3808 asideH5493 to the rightH3225 handH3225 or to the leftH8040; and the lordsH5633 of the PhilistinesH6430 wentH1980 afterH310 them unto the borderH1366 of Beth-shemeshH1053.
And they of Beth-shemeshH1053 were reaping their wheatH2406 harvestH7105 in the valleyH6010: and they liftedH5375 upH5375 their eyesH5869, and sawH7200 the arkH727, and rejoicedH8055 to seeH7200 it.
And the cartH5699 cameH935 intoH413 the fieldH7704 of JoshuaH3091 the Beth-shemiteH1030, and stoodH5975 there, whereH8033 there was a greatH1419 stoneH68: and they clave the woodH6086 of the cartH5699, and offeredH5927 upH5927 the kine for a burntH5930 offering unto the LORDH3068.
And the LevitesH3881 tookH853 downH3381 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068, and the coffer that was with it, whereinH834 the jewelsH3627 of goldH2091 were, and putH7760 them on the greatH1419 stoneH68: and the menH376 of Beth-shemeshH1053 offeredH5927 burntH5930 offeringsH3068 and sacrificedH2076 sacrificesH2077 the sameH1931 dayH3117 unto the LORDH3068.
And when the fiveH2568 lordsH5633 of the PhilistinesH6430 had seenH7200 it, they returnedH7725 to EkronH6138 the sameH1931 dayH3117.
And theseH428 are the goldenH2091 tumours whichH834 the PhilistinesH6430 returnedH7725 for a guiltH817 offering unto the LORDH3068; for AshdodH795 one, for GazaH5804 one, for AshkelonH831 one, for GathH1661 one, for EkronH6138 one;
and the goldenH2091 miceH5909, accordingH5921 to the numberH4557 of allH3605 the citiesH5892 of the PhilistinesH6430 belonging to the fiveH2568 lordsH5633, bothH3605 of fenced citiesH5892 and of countryH7704 villagesH3724: evenH5704 unto the greatH1419 stoneH834, whereon they setH834 downH5921 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068, whichH834 stoneH834 remaineth unto this dayH3117 in the fieldH7704 of JoshuaH3091 the Beth-shemiteH1030.
