2Then rose upZerubbabelזְרֻבָּבֶ֤לze.ru.ba.VelH2217thesonבַּר־bar-H1247ofShealtielשְׁאַלְתִּיאֵל֙she.'al.ti.'ElH7598, andJeshuaוְיֵשׁ֣וּעַve.ye.Shu.a'H3443thesonבַּר־bar-H1247of Jozadak, andbeganוְשָׁרִ֣יוve.sha.RivH8271to build thehouseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1005ofGodאֱלָהָ֖א'e.la.Ha'H426whichH1768is atJerusalemבִירֽוּשְׁלֶ֑םvi.ru.she.LemH3390; and with them were theprophetsנְבִיַּיָּ֥אne.vi.'ai.ya'H5029ofGodאֱלָהָ֖א'e.la.Ha'H426, helping them.

3At the same timecameאֲתָ֨א'a.Ta'H858to themTattenaiתַּ֠תְּנַיTa.te.naiH8674, thegovernorפַּחַ֧תpa.ChatH6347beyondעֲבַֽר־'a.var-H5675theriverנַהֲרָ֛הna.ha.Rah'H5103, and Shethar-bonzenai, and their companions, andsaidאָמְרִ֣ין'a.me.RinH560thusוְכֵן֙ve.KhenH3652to them, WhogaveH560youעֲלֵיה֜וֹןa.lei.HonH5922adecreeטְעֵ֗םte.'EmH2942to build thishouseבַּיְתָ֤אbay.Ta'H1005, and tofinishלְשַׁכְלָלָֽה׃ סle.shakh.la.LahH3635this wall?

4Then spakeweאֱדַ֥יִן'e.Da.yinH116unto them after this manner,Whatמַן־man-H4479are thenamesשְׁמָהָ֣תshe.ma.HatH8036of themenגֻּבְרַיָּ֔אguv.rai.Ya'H1400that make thisbuildingבָּנַֽיִן׃ba.Na.yinH1124?

5But the eye of theirGodאֱלָהֲהֹ֗ם'e.la.ha.HomH426was upon theeldersשָׂבֵ֣יsa.VeiH7868of theJewsיְהוּדָיֵ֔אye.hu.da.Ye'H3062, and they didnotוְלָא־ve.la'-H3809make themceaseבַטִּ֣לוּva.Ti.luH989, till the matter should come toDariusלְדָרְיָ֣וֶשׁle.da.re.Ya.veshH1868, and then answer should bereturnedיְתִיב֥וּןye.ti.VunH8421by letter concerning it.

8Be itknownיְדִ֣יעַ׀ye.Di.a'H3046unto thekingלְמַלְכָּ֗אle.mal.Ka'H4430, thatweH1768wentאֲזַ֜לְנָא'a.Zal.na'H236into theprovinceמְדִֽינְתָּא֙me.di.ne.Ta'H4083ofJudahלִיה֤וּדli.HudH3061, to thehouseלְבֵית֙le.VeitH1005of thegreatH7229Godאֱלָהָ֣א'e.la.Ha'H426,whichH1768is builded withgreatH7229stonesאֶ֣בֶן'E.venH69, andtimberוְאָ֖עve.'A'H636islaidמִתְּשָׂ֣םmi.te.SamH7761in thewallsבְּכֻתְלַיָּ֑אbe.khut.lai.Ya'H3797, and thisworkוַעֲבִ֥ידְתָּאva.'a.Vid.ta'H5673goeth on withdiligenceאָסְפַּ֥רְנָא'a.se.Par.na'H629and prospereth in theirhandsבְּיֶדְהֹֽם׃ סbe.yed.HomH3028.

9Thenaskedשְׁאֵ֙לְנָא֙she.'E.le.na'H7593weאֱדַ֗יִן'e.Da.yinH116thoseאִלֵּ֔ךְ'i.LekhH479eldersלְשָׂבַיָּ֣אle.sa.vai.Ya'H7868, andsaidH560unto themthusH1836, WhogaveH560you adecreeטְעֵ֗םte.'EmH2942to build thishouseבַּיְתָ֤אbay.Ta'H1005, and tofinishלְשַׁכְלָלָֽה׃le.shakh.la.LahH3635this wall?

10Weדִּ֛יdiH1768askedשְׁאֵ֥לְנָאshe.'E.le.na'H7593them theirnamesשְׁמָהָתְהֹ֛םshe.ma.ha.te.HomH8036also, to certify thee, thatweדִּ֥יdiH1768mightwriteנִכְתֻּ֥בnikh.TuvH3790thenamesשֻׁם־shum-H8036of themenגֻּבְרַיָּ֖אguv.rai.Ya'H1400that were at theheadבְרָאשֵׁיהֹֽם׃ סve.ra.shei.HomH7217of them.

11AndthusH1836theyreturnedהֲתִיב֣וּנָאha.ti.Vu.na'H8421usH5649answerפִתְגָמָ֖אfit.ga.Ma'H6600,sayingלְמֵמַ֑רle.me.MarH560,Weאֲנַ֣חְנָא'a.Nach.na'H586are theservantsעַבְדוֹהִי֩av.do.HiH5649of theGodאֱלָ֨הּ'e.LahH426ofheavenשְׁמַיָּ֜אshe.mai.Ya'H8065andearthוְאַרְעָ֗אve.'ar.'A'H772, and build thehouseבַּיְתָא֙bay.Ta'H1005that was buildedtheseH1836manyשַׂגִּיאָ֔ןsa.gi.'AnH7690yearsשְׁנִ֣יןshe.NinH8140agoמִקַּדְמַ֤תmi.kad.MatH6928,whichH1768agreatרַ֔בRavH7229kingוּמֶ֤לֶךְu.Me.lekhH4430ofIsraelלְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙le.Yis.ra.'ElH3479builded andfinishedוְשַׁכְלְלֵֽהּ׃ve.shakh.le.LehH3635.

12Butafterמִן־min-H4481that ourfathersאֲבָהֳתַ֙נָא֙'a.vo.ho.Ta.na'H2hadprovokedH7265theGodלֶאֱלָ֣הּle.'e.LahH426ofheavenשְׁמַיָּ֔אshe.mai.Ya'H8065untowrathH7265, hegaveיְהַ֣בye.HavH3052them into thehandבְּיַ֛דbe.YadH3028ofNebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֥רne.vu.khad.ne.TzarH5020kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4430ofBabylonבָּבֶ֖לba.VelH895, the Chaldean, who destroyed thishouseוּבַיְתָ֤הu.vay.Tah'H1005, and carried thepeopleוְעַמָּ֖הve.'a.Mah'H5972away intoBabylonלְבָבֶֽל׃ סle.va.VelH895.

13But in thefirstחֲדָ֔הcha.DahH2298yearבִּשְׁנַ֣תbish.NatH8140ofCyrusלְכ֥וֹרֶשׁle.Kho.reshH3567kingמַלְכָּ֖אmal.Ka'H4430ofBabylonבָבֶ֑לva.VelH895,Cyrusכּ֤וֹרֶשׁKo.reshH3567thekingמַלְכָּא֙mal.Ka'H4430madeשָׂ֣םsamH7761adecreeטְעֵ֔םte.'EmH2942to build thishouseבֵּית־beit-H1005ofGodאֱלָהָ֥א'e.la.Ha'H426.

14And thegoldדַהֲבָ֣הda.ha.Vah'H1722and slivervesselsמָאנַיָּ֣אma.nai.Ya'H3984also of thehouseבֵית־veit-H1005ofGodאֱלָהָא֮'e.la.Ha'H426,whichH1768Nebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗רne.vu.khad.ne.TzarH5020tookH5312out of thetempleH1005that was inJerusalemבִֽירוּשְׁלֶ֔םvi.ru.she.LemH3390, andbroughtוְהֵיבֵ֣לve.hei.VelH2987them into thetempleH1005ofBabylonבָבֶ֑לva.VelH895,thoseH1768didCyrusכּ֣וֹרֶשׁKo.reshH3567thekingמַלְכָּ֗אmal.Ka'H4430take out of thetempleH1005ofBabylonבָבֶ֔לva.VelH895, and they were delivered unto onewhoseH1768nameשְׁמֵ֔הּshe.MehH8036wasSheshbazzarלְשֵׁשְׁבַּצַּ֣רle.she.she.ba.TzarH8340,whomH1768he hadmadeשָׂמֵֽהּ׃sa.MehH7761governorפֶחָ֖הfe.ChahH6347;

15and hesaidוַאֲמַר־va.'a.mar-H560unto him,Takeשֵׂ֚אse'H5376theseאֵ֚ל'e.lehH412vesselsמָֽאנַיָּ֔אma.nai.Ya'H3984,goאֵֽזֶל־'e.zel-H236,putאֲחֵ֣ת'a.ChetH5182them in thetempleH1005that is inJerusalemבִירוּשְׁלֶ֑םvi.ru.she.LemH3390, and let thehouseוּבֵ֥יתu.VeitH1005ofGodאֱלָהָ֖א'e.la.Ha'H426be builded in itsplaceאַתְרֵֽהּ׃ ס'at.RehH870.

16Thencameאֲתָ֗א'a.Ta'H858the sameSheshbazzarשֵׁשְׁבַּצַּ֣רshe.she.ba.TzarH8340, andlaidיְהַ֧בye.HavH3052thefoundationsאֻשַּׁיָּ֛א'u.shai.Ya'H787of thehouseבֵ֥יתveitH1005ofGodאֱלָהָ֖א'e.la.Ha'H426whichH1768is inJerusalemבִירוּשְׁלֶ֑םvi.ru.she.LemH3390: andsinceH1768that timeevenH1768untilוְעַד־ve.'ad-H5705nowכְּעַ֛ןke.'AnH3705hath it been inbuildingמִתְבְּנֵ֖אmit.be.Ne'H1124, and yet it isnotוְלָ֥אve.La'H3809completedשְׁלִֽם׃she.LimH8000.
