And Hiram king of Tyre sent hisservantsH5647untoSolomonH8010; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in theroomH5066of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover ofDavidH3117.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house for the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
ButnowH1961the LORD my God hath givenmeH1961restH1961oneveryH3605sideH5439; there is neither adversary, nor evil occurrent.
And, behold, I purpose to build an house for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake untoDavidH3117my father, saying, Thy son, whom I willsetH3427uponH3427thy throne in thy room, he shall build the house for my name.
NowH1961therefore command thou that they hewmeH1961cedar treesoutH8147of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants; and I willgiveH1961thee hire for thy servants according toallH505that thou shalt say: for thou knowest that there isnotH1961among usanyH1961thatcanH8147skill to hew timber like unto the Zidonians.
And itcameH413to pass, when Hiram heard thewordsH1697ofSolomonH8010, that he rejoiced greatly, andsaidH413, Blessed be the LORD thisdayH2320,whichH428hath given unto David a wise son over this greatpeopleH376.
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard the messagewhichH834thou hast sent untomeH413: I willdoH935allH376thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.
My servants shallbringH5414themdownH5414from Lebanon unto theseaH3220: and I willmakeH5414themintoH5921rafts to go byseaH3220unto theplaceH5414that thou shaltappointH5414meH5414, and willcauseH5414them to be brokenupH5921there, and thou shaltreceiveH5414them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, ingivingH5414food for my household.
So Hirah gaveSolomonH8010timber of cedar and timber of fir according toallH3605his desire.
And SolomongaveH1961Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil:thusH1961gaveH1961Solomon to Hiram year by year.
And the LORDgaveH1961Solomon wisdom, as hepromisedH1696him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they twomadeדִּבֶּר־di.ber-H1696a league together.
AndkingH5921Solomon raised a levyoutH3318ofallH5704Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months athomeH776: and Adoniram was over the levy.
AndSolomonH8010had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand that were hewers in the mountains;
besidesSolomon’sH8010chief officers that were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.
And the king commanded, and they hewedoutיָדַ֜עְתָּya.Da'.taH3045greatאֱלֹהָ֔יו'e.lo.HavH430stones, costly stones, tolayתֵּת־tet-H5414the foundation of thehouseH1004with wroughtstoneאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834.
