9And thechildrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121ofAmmonעַמּ֔וֹןa.MonH5983cameבָּ֔אוּBa.'uH935outוַיֵּצְאוּ֙vai.ye.tze.'UH3318, andputH935thebattleמִלְחָמָ֖הmil.cha.MahH4421inarrayH4421at thegateפֶּ֣תַחPe.tachH6607of thecityהָעִ֑ירha.'IrH5892: and thekingsוְהַמְּלָכִ֣יםve.ha.me.la.KhimH4428that werecomeH935were bythemselvesלְבַדָּ֖םle.va.DamH905in thefieldבַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ba.sa.DehH7704.

10Nowהָיְתָ֧הha.ye.TahH1961whenJoabיוֹאָ֗בyo.'AvH3097sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200that thebattleהַמִּלְחָמָ֛הha.mil.cha.MahH4421was setagainstH413himbeforeH6440andbehindוְאָח֑וֹרve.'a.ChorH268, hechoseוַיִּבְחַ֗רvai.yiv.CharH977ofallמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605thechoiceבָּחוּר֙ba.ChurH977menH970ofIsraelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478, and put them inarrayH4421againstH413the Syrians.

11And therestיֶ֣תֶרYe.terH3499of thepeopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971hecommittedH5414intoH3027thehandבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027ofAbishaiאַבְשַׁ֣י'av.ShaiH52hisbrotherאָחִ֑יו'a.ChivH251, and theyputנָתַ֕ןna.TanH5414themselves in arrayagainstH7125thechildrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121ofAmmonעַמּֽוֹן׃a.MonH5983.

12And hesaidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Ifאִם־'im-H518the Syrians betooH4480strongתֶּחֱזַ֤קte.che.ZakH2388formeH4480, then thou shalthelpH3467meH4480: butifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518thechildrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121ofAmmonעַמּ֛וֹןa.MonH5983betooH4480strongיֶֽחֶזְק֥וּye.chez.KuH2388for thee, then I willhelpH3467thee.

13Be ofgoodהַטּ֥וֹבha.TovH2896courageH2388, and letusH5869play themenH5971for ourpeopleעַמֵּ֔נוּ'a.Me.nuH5971, and for thecitiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of ourGodאֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430: and theLORDוַֽיהוָ֔הva.Yah.wehH3068doיַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ya.'a.SehH6213thatwhichH5869seemeth himgoodH2896.

14Soאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834Joabיוֹאָ֜בyo.'AvH3097and thepeopleוְהָעָ֧םve.ha.'AmH5971that were with himdrewוַיִּגַּ֨שׁvai.yi.GashH5066nighbeforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Syrians unto thebattleלַמִּלְחָמָ֑הla.mil.cha.MahH4421; and theyfledוַיָּנ֖וּסוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127beforeמִפָּנָֽיו׃mi.pa.NavH6440him.

15And when thechildrenוּבְנֵ֨יu.ve.NeiH1121ofAmmonעַמּ֤וֹןa.MonH5983sawרָאוּ֙ra.'UH7200that the Syrians werefledנָ֣סnasH5127, they likewisefledוַיָּנ֣וּסוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127beforeמִפְּנֵי֙mi.pe.NeiH6440Abishaiאַבְשַׁ֣י'av.ShaiH52hisbrotherאָחִ֔יו'a.ChivH251, andenteredH935intoH935thecityהָעִ֑ירָהha.'I.rahH5892. ThenJoabיוֹאָ֖בyo.'AvH3097cameH935toJerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ פye.ru.sha.LimH3389.

16And when the Syrianssawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200that they wereputH7971to the worsebeforeH6440Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478, theysentH7971messengersמַלְאָכִ֔יםmal.'a.KhimH4397, and drewforthוַיּוֹצִ֣יאוּvai.yo.Tzi.'uH3318the Syrians that werebeyondמֵעֵ֣בֶרme.'E.verH5676theRiverהַנָּהָ֑רha.na.HarH5104, withShophachוְשׁוֹפַ֛ךְve.sho.FakhH7780thecaptainH8269of thehostצְבָ֥אtze.Va'H6635of Hadarezer at theirheadH8269.
