Jeremiah 26:7-24

7The 1priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 heardH8085 JeremiahH3414 speakingH1696 theseH428 wordsH1697 in the houseH1004 of the LordH3068. 8Yet when JeremiahH3414 finishedH3615 speakingH1696 everythingH3605 that the LordH3068 had commandedH6680 him to speakH1696 to allH3605 the peopleH5971, then the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 seizedH8610 him, sayingH559, “2You mustH4191 dieH4191! 9WhyH4069 have you prophesiedH5012 in the nameH8034 of the LordH3068, sayingH559, ‘ThisH2088 houseH1004 will be like ShilohH7887 and thisH2088 cityH5892 will be 3in ruinsH2717, withoutH369 inhabitantH3427’?” And 4allH3605 the peopleH5971 gatheredH6950 to JeremiahH3414 at the houseH1004 of the LordH3068.

10When the 5officialsH8269 of JudahH3063 heardH8085 theseH428 thingsH1697, they cameH5927 upH5927 from the king’sH4428 houseH1004 to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and satH3427 at the 6entranceH6607 of the NewH2319 GateH8179 of the Lord’sH3068 house. 11Then the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 7spokeH559 to the officialsH8269 and to allH3605 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, “A 8deathH4194 sentenceH4941 for thisH2088 manH376! For he has prophesiedH5012 9againstH413 thisH2088 cityH5892, justH3512 asH3512 you have heardH8085 with your own earsH241!”

12Then JeremiahH3414 spokeH559 to allH3605 the officialsH8269 and to allH3605 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, “10The LordH3068 sentH7971 me to prophesyH5012 againstH413 thisH2088 houseH1004 and againstH413 thisH2088 cityH5892 allH3605 the wordsH1697 that you have heardH8085. 13NowH6258 then, 11reformH3190 your waysH1870 and your deedsH4611 and obeyH8085 the voiceH6963 of the LordH3068 your GodH430; and the LordH3068 will relentH5162 of the disasterH7463 whichH834 He has pronouncedH1696 againstH5921 you. 14But as for me, beholdH2009, 12I am in your handsH3027; doH6213 with me as is goodH2896 and rightH3477 in your sightH5869. 15OnlyH389 knowH3045 forH3045 certainH3045 that ifH518 you putH4191 me toH4191 deathH4191, you will bringH5414 13innocentH5355 bloodH1818 on yourselves, and on thisH2088 cityH5892 and its inhabitantsH3427; for trulyH571 the LordH3068 has sentH7971 me to you to speakH1696 allH3605 theseH428 wordsH1697 14so that you hearH241 them.”

16Then the officialsH8269 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 15saidH559 to the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030, “NoH369 16deathH4194 sentenceH4941 for thisH2088 manH376! For he has spokenH1696 to us in the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 our GodH430.” 17Then 17someH376 of the eldersH2205 of the landH776 roseH6965 upH6965 and spokeH559 to allH3605 the assemblyH6951 of the peopleH5971, sayingH559, 18“1819MicahH4318 of MoreshethH4183 used to prophesyH5012 in the daysH3117 of HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063; and he spokeH559 to allH3605 the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063, sayingH559, ‘ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 of armiesH6635 has saidH559: “20ZionH6726 will be plowedH2790 like a fieldH7704, And JerusalemH3389 will becomeH1961 heapsH5856 ofH5856 ruinsH5856, And the 21mountainH2022 of the houseH1004 like the 22highH1116 placesH1116 of a forestH3293.”’ 19Did HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and allH3605 JudahH3063 actuallyH4191 putH4191 him toH4191 deathH4191? 20IndeedH1571, there was alsoH1571 a manH376 who used to prophesyH5012 in the nameH8034 of the LordH3068, UriahH223 the sonH1121 of ShemaiahH8098 from 26Kiriath-jearimH7157; and he prophesiedH5012 againstH5921 thisH2088 cityH5892 and againstH5921 thisH2088 landH776 wordsH1697 similar to allH3605 those of JeremiahH3414. 21When KingH4428 JehoiakimH3079 and allH3605 his warriorsH1368 and allH3605 the officialsH8269 heardH8085 his wordsH1697, then the 27kingH4428 soughtH1245 to putH4191 him toH4191 deathH4191; but UriahH223 heardH8085 about it, and he wasH3372 afraidH3372, so he 28fledH1272 and wentH935 to EgyptH4714. 22Then KingH4428 JehoiakimH3079 sentH7971 menH376 to EgyptH4714: 29ElnathanH494 the sonH1121 of AchborH5907 and certain menH376 with him, to EgyptH4714. 23And they broughtH3318 UriahH223 from EgyptH4714 and ledH935 him to KingH4428 JehoiakimH3079, who 30killedH5221 him with a swordH2719 and threwH7993 his deadH5038 bodyH5038 into the 31burialH6913 placeH6913 of the 32commonH1121 peopleH5971.

24But the handH3027 of 33AhikamH296 the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227 was with JeremiahH3414, so that he was 34not handedH5414H3027 overH5414 to the peopleH5971 to putH4191 him toH4191 deathH4191.
