11But Danielדָּנִיֵּ֖אלda.ni.YelH1840saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the overseerהַמֶּלְצַ֑רha.mel.TzarH4453whomאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834the commanderשַׂ֣רsarH8269of the officialsהַסָּֽרִיסִ֔יםha.sa.ri.SimH5631had appointedמִנָּה֙mi.NahH4487overעַל־'al-H5921Danielדָּנִיֵּ֣אלda.ni.YelH1840,Hananiahחֲנַנְיָ֔הcha.nan.YahH2608,Mishaelמִֽישָׁאֵ֖לmi.sha.'ElH4332,and Azariahוַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃va.'a.zar.YahH5838,

12“Pleaseנָ֥אna'H4994putנַס־nas-H5254your servantsעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650toH5254theH5254testH5254for tenעֲשָׂרָ֑ה'a.sa.RahH6235daysיָמִ֣יםya.MimH3117, and let us begivenוְיִתְּנוּ־ve.yi.te.nu-H5414someמִן־min-H4480vegetablesהַזֵּרֹעִ֛יםha.ze.ro.'ImH2235to eatוְנֹאכְלָ֖הve.no.khe.LahH398and waterוּמַ֥יִםu.Ma.yimH4325to drinkוְנִשְׁתֶּֽה׃ve.nish.TehH8354.

13Then let our appearanceמַרְאֵ֔ינוּmar.'Ei.nuH4758beexaminedוְיֵרָא֤וּve.ye.ra.'UH7200in your presenceלְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙le.fa.Nei.khaH6440and the appearanceוּמַרְאֵה֙u.mar.'EhH4758of the youthsהַיְלָדִ֔יםhay.la.DimH3206whoוְכַאֲשֶׁ֣רve.kha.'a.SherH834are eatingהָאֹ֣כְלִ֔יםha.'O.khe.LimH398the king’sהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428choiceH6598foodH6598;and dealעֲשֵׂ֖ה'a.SehH6213with your servantsעֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃'a.va.Dei.khaH5650according to whatH3512you seeתִּרְאֵ֔הtir.'EhH7200.”

14So he listenedוַיִּשְׁמַ֥עvai.yish.Ma'H8085to them in thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088matterלַדָּבָ֣רla.da.VarH1697,and putוַיְנַסֵּ֖םvay.na.SemH5254them toH5254theH5254testH5254for tenעֲשָׂרָֽה׃'a.sa.RahH6235daysיָמִ֥יםya.MimH3117.

15And at the endוּמִקְצָת֙u.mik.TzatH7117of tenעֲשָׂרָ֔ה'a.sa.RahH6235daysיָמִ֣יםya.MimH3117their appearanceמַרְאֵיהֶם֙mar.'ei.HemH4758seemedנִרְאָ֤הnir.'AhH7200betterט֔וֹבTovH2896, andthey were fatterוּבְרִיאֵ֖י בָּשָׂ֑רu.ve.ri.'Ei ba.SarH1277 H1320thanמִן־min-H4480allכָּל־kol-H3605the youthsהַיְלָדִ֔יםhay.la.DimH3206whoH834had been eatingהָאֹ֣כְלִ֔יםha.'O.khe.LimH398the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428choiceH6598foodH6598.

16So the overseerהַמֶּלְצַ֗רha.mel.TzarH4453continuedוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961towithholdנֹשֵׂא֙no.Se'H5375their choiceH6598foodH6598and the wineוְיֵ֖יןve.YeinH3196they were to drinkמִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֑םmish.tei.HemH4960,and keptH5414givingH5414them vegetablesזֵרְעֹנִֽים׃ze.re.'o.NimH2235.

17And as for theseהָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ha.'E.lehH428fourאַרְבַּעְתָּ֔ם'ar.ba'.TamH702youthsוְהַיְלָדִ֤יםve.hay.la.DimH3206,Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֛יםha.'E.lo.HimH430gaveנָתַ֨ןna.TanH5414them knowledgeמַדָּ֥עma.Da'H4093and intelligenceוְהַשְׂכֵּ֖לve.has.KelH7919in everyבְּכָל־be.kholH3605kind ofliteratureסֵ֣פֶרSe.ferH5612and expertiseוְחָכְמָ֑הve.cha.khe.MahH2451;Danielוְדָנִיֵּ֣אלve.da.ni.YelH1840even understoodהֵבִ֔יןhe.VinH995allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605kinds ofvisionsחָז֖וֹןcha.ZonH2377and dreamsוַחֲלֹמֽוֹת׃va.cha.lo.MotH2472.
