21Then Joabיוֹאָב֙yo.'AvH3097saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the Cushiteלַכּוּשִׁ֔יla.ku.ShiH3569, “Goלֵ֛ךְlekhH1980,tellהַגֵּ֥דha.GedH5046the kingלַמֶּ֖לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428whatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you have seenרָאִ֑יתָהra.'I.tahH7200.”So the Cushiteכוּשִׁ֛יkhu.ShiH3569bowedH2331to Joabלְיוֹאָ֖בle.yo.'AvH3097and ranוַיָּרֹֽץ׃vai.ya.RotzH7323.

22However, Ahimaazאֲחִימַ֤עַץ'a.chi.Ma.'atzH290the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zadokצָדוֹק֙tza.dOkH6659saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559onceH3254 H5750moreH3254 H5750to Joabיוֹאָ֔בyo.'AvH3097, “But whateverמָ֔הMahH4100happensוִ֣יהִיVi.hiH1961,pleaseנָּ֥אna'H4994let me alsoגַם־gam-H1571runאָרֻֽצָה־'a.ru.tzah-H7323afterאַחֲרֵ֣י'a.cha.ReiH310the Cushiteהַכּוּשִׁ֑יha.ku.ShiH3569.”And Joabיוֹאָ֗בyo.'AvH3097saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whyלָֽמָּה־ זֶּ֞הla.mah- zehH4100 H2088would you runרָץ֙ratzH7323,my sonבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121, sinceyou will haveH369noH369messenger’sH1309rewardH1309for goingH3318?”

23“But whateverמָ֣הmahH4100happensוִיהִי־vi.hi-H1961,” he said, “I will runאָר֔וּץ'a.RutzH7323.”So he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Runר֑וּץRutzH7323.”Then Ahimaazאֲחִימַ֙עַץ֙'a.chi.Ma.'atzH290ranוַיָּ֤רָץvai.Ya.rotzH7323by wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the plainהַכִּכָּ֔רha.ki.KarH3603and passedH5674byH5674the Cushiteהַכּוּשִֽׁי׃ha.ku.ShiH3569.

24NowDavidוְדָוִ֥דve.da.VidH1732was sittingיוֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427betweenבֵּין־bein-H996the twoשְׁנֵ֣יshe.NeiH8147gatesהַשְּׁעָרִ֑יםha.she.'a.RimH8179; andthe watchmanהַצֹּפֶ֜הha.tzo.PehH6822wentוַיֵּ֨לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to the roofגַּ֤גgagH1406of the gateהַשַּׁ֙עַר֙ha.Sha.'arH8179by the wallהַ֣חוֹמָ֔הha.cho.MahH2346,and raisedוַיִּשָּׂ֤אvai.yi.Sa'H5375his eyesעֵינָיו֙'ei.NavH5869and lookedוַיַּ֔רְאvai.Yar'H7200;and beholdוְהִנֵּה־ve.hi.neh-H2009,a manאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376was runningרָ֥ץratzH7323byH905himselfH905.

25So the watchmanהַצֹּפֶה֙ha.tzo.PehH6822calledוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121outH7121and toldוַיַּגֵּ֣דvai.ya.GedH5046the kingלַמֶּ֔לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428.And the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518he is byH905himselfH905there is goodH1309newsבְּשׂוֹרָ֣הbe.so.RahH1309in his mouthבְּפִ֑יוbe.FivH6310.”And he cameוַיֵּ֥לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980nearerהָל֖וֹךְha.LokhH7131 H1980and nearerH7131.

26Then the watchmanהַצֹּפֶה֮ha.tzo.PehH6822sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200anotherאַחֵ֣ר'a.CherH312manאִישׁ־'ish-H376runningרָץ֒ratzH7323;and the watchmanהַצֹּפֶה֙ha.tzo.PehH6822calledוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121to the gatekeeperהַשֹּׁעֵ֔רha.sho.'ErH7778and saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Beholdהִנֵּה־hi.neh-H2009, anothermanאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376is runningרָ֣ץratzH7323byH905himselfH905.”And the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “ThisH2088oneזֶ֥הzehH2088alsoגַּם־gam-H1571is bringingH1319goodH1319newsמְבַשֵּֽׂר׃me.va.SerH1319.”

27The watchmanהַצֹּפֶ֔הha.tzo.PehH6822saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “Ithinkרֹאֶה֙ro.'EhH7200the runningמְרוּצַ֣תme.ru.TzatH4794formH4794of the firstהָרִאשׁ֔וֹןha.ri.ShonH7223oneH7223is like the runningכִּמְרֻצַ֖תkim.ru.TzatH4794formH4794of Ahimaazאֲחִימַ֣עַץ'a.chi.Ma.'atzH290the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zadokצָד֑וֹקtza.DokH6659.”And the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Thisזֶ֔הZehH2088is a goodט֣וֹבTovH2896manאִֽישׁ־'ish-H376,and he is comingיָבֽוֹא׃ya.Vo'H935with goodטוֹבָ֖הto.VahH2896newsבְּשׂוֹרָ֥הbe.so.RahH1309.”

28Then Ahimaazאֲחִימַ֗עַץ'a.chi.Ma.'atzH290calledוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121outH7121and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428, “All is wellשָׁל֔וֹםsha.LomH7965.” Andhe prostratedH2331himself before the kingלַמֶּ֛לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428with his faceלְאַפָּ֖יוle.'a.PavH639to the groundאָ֑רְצָה ס'A.re.tzahH776.And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Blessedבָּרוּךְ֙ba.ruKhH1288is the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834has turnedH5462overH5462the menH376whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834raisedנָשְׂא֥וּna.se.'UH5375their handsיָדָ֖םya.DamH3027against my lordבַּֽאדֹנִ֥יba.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.”

29But the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Is it wellשָׁל֥וֹםsha.LomH7965with the youngלַנַּ֖עַרla.Na.'arH5288manH5288Absalomלְאַבְשָׁל֑וֹםle.'av.sha.LomH53?”And Ahimaazאֲחִימַ֡עַץ'a.chi.Ma.'atzH290answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “When Joabיוֹאָב֙yo.'AvH3097sentלִ֠שְׁלֹחַLish.lo.achH7971the king’sהַמֶּ֤לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428servantעֶ֨בֶד'E.vedH5650,and your servantעַבְדֶּ֔ךָ'av.De.khaH5650,I sawרָאִיתִי֩ra.'i.TiH7200a greatהַגָּד֜וֹלha.ga.DolH1419commotionהֶהָמ֨וֹןhe.ha.MonH1995, butI did not knowיָדַ֖עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045whatמָֽה׃MahH4100it was.”

30Then the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “TurnH5437asideH5437and standהִתְיַצֵּ֣בhit.ya.TzevH3320hereכֹּ֑הKohH3541.”So he turnedH5437asideH5437and stoodH5975stillH5975.

31Then beholdוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009,the Cushiteהַכּוּשִׁ֖יha.ku.ShiH3569arrivedבָּ֑אBa'H935,and the Cushiteהַכּוּשִׁ֗יha.ku.ShiH3569saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Let my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428receiveH1319goodH1319newsיִתְבַּשֵּׂר֙yit.ba.SerH1319, forthe Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068hasfreedשְׁפָטְךָ֤she.fa.te.KhaH8199you this dayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117from the handמִיַּ֖דmi.YadH3027of allכָּל־kol-H3605those who roseH6965upH6965againstעָלֶֽיךָ׃ ס'a.Lei.khaH5921you.”

32Then the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the Cushiteהַכּוּשִׁ֔יha.ku.ShiH3569, “Is it wellהֲשָׁל֥וֹםha.sha.LomH7965with the youngלַנַּ֖עַרla.Na.'arH5288manכַנַּ֙עַר֙kha.Na.'arH5288Absalomלְאַבְשָׁל֑וֹםle.'av.sha.LomH53?”And the Cushiteהַכּוּשִׁ֗יha.ku.ShiH3569answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “May the enemiesH340of my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,and allוְכֹ֛לve.KholH3605whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834riseH6965upH6965againstעָלֶ֖יךָ'a.Lei.khaH5921you for evilH7463, be like thatyoungH5288manH5288!”
