5When Kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732cameוּבָ֛אu.Va'H935toBahurimבַּֽחוּרִ֑יםba.chu.RimH980,beholdוְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009,a manאִ֨ישׁ'ishH376was comingH3318outH3318from thereמִשָּׁם֩mi.ShamH8033from the familyמִמִּשְׁפַּ֣חַתmi.mish.Pa.chatH4940of the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586, andhis nameוּשְׁמוֹ֙u.she.MoH8034was Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֣יshim.'IH8096,the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Geraגֵּרָ֔אge.Ra'H1617;he was comingH3318outH3318,cursingוּמְקַלֵּֽל׃u.me.ka.LelH7043as he cameH3318.

6He also threwוַיְסַקֵּ֤לvay.sa.KelH5619stonesבָּֽאֲבָנִים֙ba.'a.va.NimH68at Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732and allכָּל־kol-H3605the servantsעַבְדֵ֖י'av.DeiH5650of Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732;and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the warriorsהַגִּבֹּרִ֔יםha.gi.bo.RimH1368were on his rightמִימִינ֖וֹmi.mi.NoH3225and on his leftוּמִשְּׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃u.mi.se.mo.LoH8040.

7ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֖יshim.'IH8096saidאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559when he cursedבְּקַֽלְל֑וֹbe.ka.LoH7043: “GoH3318awayH3318,goH3318awayH3318,you manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of bloodshedהַדָּמִ֖יםha.da.MimH1818and worthlessהַבְּלִיָּֽעַל׃ha.be.li.Ya.'alH1100manוְאִ֥ישׁve.'IshH376!

8The Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068has broughtH7725backהֵשִׁיב֩he.ShivH7725upon you allכֹּ֣ל׀kolH3605the bloodshedדְּמֵ֣יde.MeiH1818of the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586,inH8478whoseאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834placeתַּחְתָּ֔יוtach.toH8478you have becomeH4427kingH4427;and the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has handedבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH5414 H3027the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָ֔הha.me.lu.KhahH4410overH5414to your sonבְּנֶ֑ךָbe.Ne.khaH1121Absalomאַבְשָׁל֣וֹם'av.sha.LomH53.And beholdH2009, you are caughtin your own evilH7463,for you are a manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of bloodshedדָּמִ֖יםda.MimH1818!”

9ThenAbishaiאֲבִישַׁ֤י'a.vi.ShaiH52the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zeruiahצְרוּיָה֙tze.ru.YahH6870saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, “Whyלָ֣מָּהLa.mahH4100shouldthisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088deadהַמֵּת֙ha.MetH4191dogהַכֶּ֤לֶבha.Ke.levH3611curseיְקַלֵּ֞לye.ka.LelH7043my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428?Nowנָּ֖אna'H4994let me goH5674overH5674andcutH5493offH5493his headרֹאשֽׁוֹ׃ סro.ShoH7218.”

10But the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100businessof mine is yours, you sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Zeruiahצְרֻיָ֑הtze.ru.YahH6870?IfH3588he cursesיְקַלֵּ֗לye.ka.LelH7043,and ifH3588the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has toldאָ֤מַר'A.marH559him, ‘Curseקַלֵּ֣לka.LelH7043Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732,’then whoוּמִ֣יu.MiH4310should sayיֹאמַ֔רyo.MarH559, ‘Whyמַדּ֖וּעַma.Du.a'H4069have you doneעָשִׂ֥יתָה'a.Si.tahH6213soכֵּֽן׃ סKenH3651?’”

11Then Davidדָּוִ֤דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Abishaiאֲבִישַׁי֙'a.vi.ShaiH52and to allכָּל־kol-H3605his servantsעֲבָדָ֔יו'a.va.DavH5650, “Beholdהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,my sonבְנִ֛יve.NiH1121whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834cameH3318outH3318of my own body seeksמְבַקֵּ֣שׁme.va.KeshH1245my lifeנַפְשִׁ֑יnaf.ShiH5315;howH637muchכִּֽי־ki-H637 H3588moreכִּ֥יkiH637 H3588nowעַתָּ֜ה'a.TahH6258thisBenjaminiteH1145?Leaveהַנִּ֤חוּha.Ni.chuH5117him aloneH5117and let him curseוִֽיקַלֵּ֔לvi.ka.LelH7043,for the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068has toldאָֽמַר־'a.mar-H559him.

12Perhapsאוּלַ֛י'u.LaiH194the LordH3068will lookיִרְאֶ֥הyir.'EhH7200on mymiseryH6040andreturnוְהֵשִׁ֨יבve.he.ShivH7725goodH2899to me insteadH8478ofH8478his cursingקִלְלָת֖וֹki.la.ToH7045thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.”

13So Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732and his menH376wentH1980on the roadבַּדָּ֑רֶךְ סba.Da.rekhH1870;and Shimeiוְשִׁמְעִ֡יve.shim.'IH8096keptH1980goingH1980on the hillsideבְּצֵ֨לַע הָהָ֜רbe.Tze.la' ha.HarH6763 H2022closeלְעֻמָּת֗וֹle.'u.ma.ToH5980besideלְעֻמָּת֔וֹle.'u.ma.ToH5980him, and as he wentH1980he cursedוַיְקַלֵּ֔לvay.ka.LelH7043and threwוַיְסַקֵּ֤לvay.sa.KelH5619stonesבָּֽאֲבָנִים֙ba.'a.va.NimH68and dirtבֶּעָפָֽר׃ פbe.'a.FarH6083at him.

14And the kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֥םha.'AmH5971whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834were with him arrivedוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935exhaustedעֲיֵפִ֑ים'a.ye.FimH5889,and he refreshedוַיִּנָּפֵ֖שׁvai.yi.na.FeshH5314himself thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

15Then Absalomוְאַבְשָׁל֗וֹםve.'av.sha.LomH53and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971,the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,enteredבָּ֖אוּBa.'uH935Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,and Ahithophelוַאֲחִיתֹ֖פֶלva.'a.chi.To.felH302with him.

16Now it cameH1961aboutH1961,whenH3512Hushaiחוּשַׁ֧יchu.ShaiH2365the Architeהָאַרְכִּ֛יha.'ar.KiH757,David’sדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732friendרֵעֶ֥הre.'EhH7463,cameבָּ֞אba'H935to Absalomאַבְשָׁל֑וֹם'av.sha.LomH53, thatHushaiחוּשַׁי֙chu.ShaiH2365saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Absalomאַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם'av.sha.LomH53, “Longliveיְחִ֥יye.ChiH2421the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428! Longliveיְחִ֥יye.ChiH2421the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428!”

17But Absalomאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙'av.sha.lOmH53saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Hushaiחוּשַׁ֔יchu.ShaiH2365, “Is thisזֶ֥הzehH2088yourloyaltyחַסְדְּךָ֖chas.de.KhaH2617to your friendרֵעֶ֑ךָre.'E.khaH7453?Whyלָ֥מָּהLa.mahH4100did you not goהָלַ֖כְתָּha.Lakh.taH1980with your friendרֵעֶֽךָ׃re.'E.khaH7453?”

18So Hushaiחוּשַׁי֮chu.ShaiH2365saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Absalomאַבְשָׁלֹם֒'av.sha.LomH53, “Noלֹ֕אlo'H3808!For whomeverאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068,thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088peopleוְהָעָ֥םve.ha.'AmH5971,and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478have chosenבָּחַ֧רba.CharH977,his I shall be, and with him I shall remainאֵשֵֽׁב׃'e.ShevH3427.

19Besidesוְהַשֵּׁנִ֗יתve.ha.she.NitH8145,whomלְמִי֙le.MiH4310should I serveאֶֽעֱבֹ֔ד'e.'e.VodH5647? Should I not servein the presenceלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440of his sonבְנ֑וֹve.NoH1121?JustH3512asH3512I have servedעָבַ֙דְתִּי֙'a.Vad.tiH5647in your father’sאָבִ֔יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1presenceלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440,soכֵּ֖ןkenH3651I shall be in your presenceלְפָנֶֽיךָ׃ פli.fa.Nei.khaH6440.”
