1When Athaliahוַֽעֲתַלְיָה֙va.'a.tal.YahH6271the motherאֵ֣ם'emH517of Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֔הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274sawרָאֲתָ֖הra.'a.tahH7200that her sonבְּנָ֑הּbe.NahH1121was deadמֵ֣תmetH4191,she aroseוַתָּ֙קָם֙va.Ta.komH6965and eliminatedוַתְּאַבֵּ֔דva.te.'a.BedH6allכָּל־kol-H3605the royalהַמַּמְלָכָֽה׃ha.mam.la.KhahH4467childrenזֶ֥רַעZe.ra'H2233.

2But Jehoshebaיְהוֹשֶׁ֣בַעye.ho.She.va'H3089,the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ־ha.Me.lekh-H4428Joramי֠וֹרָםYo.romH3141,sisterאֲח֨וֹת'a.ChotH269of Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֜הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274,tookוַתִּקַּ֣חva.ti.KachH3947JoashH3060the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֗ה'a.chaz.YahH274and abductedוַתִּגְנֹ֤בva.tig.NoH1589him from amongמִתּ֤וֹךְmi.TokhH8432the king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121who were being putהַמּ֣וּמָתִ֔יםha.ma.mo.timH4191toH4191deathהוּמָֽת׃hu.MatH4191, and puthim and his nurseמֵינִקְתּ֖וֹmei.nik.ToH3243in the bedroomבַּחֲדַ֣ר הַמִּטּ֑וֹתba.cha.Dar ha.mi.TotH2315 H4296.So they hidוַיַּסְתִּ֧רוּvai.yas.Ti.ruH5641him from Athaliahעֲתַלְיָ֖הוּ'a.tal.Ya.huH6271,and he was not putH4191toH4191deathH4191.

3So he was kept hiddenמִתְחַבֵּ֖אmit.cha.Be'H2244with her in the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068for sixשֵׁ֣שׁsheshH8337yearsשָׁנִ֑יםsha.NimH8141,while Athaliahוַעֲתַלְיָ֖הva.'a.tal.YahH6271was reigningמֹלֶ֥כֶתmo.Le.khetH4427overעַל־'al-H5921the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ פha.'A.retzH776.

4Now in the seventhהַ֠שְּׁבִיעִיתHa.she.vi.'itH7637yearוּבַשָּׁנָ֣הu.va.sha.NahH8141Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֜עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077sentשָׁלַ֨חsha.LachH7971ordersand broughtוַיִּקַּ֣ח׀vai.yi.KachH3947the captainsשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֗וֹתha.me.yotH3967ofthe Caritesלַכָּרִי֙la.ka.RiH3746and of theguardsוְלָ֣רָצִ֔יםve.La.ra.TzimH7323,and broughtוַיָּבֵ֥אvai.ya.Ve'H935them to himself at the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.Then he madeוַיִּכְרֹת֩vai.yikh.RotH3772a covenantבְּרִ֜יתbe.RitH1285with them and putH7650them underH7650oathוַיַּשְׁבַּ֤עvai.yash.Ba'H7650at the houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and showedוַיַּ֥רְאvai.Yar'H7200them the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428sonבֶּן־ben-H1121.

5And he commandedוַיְצַוֵּ֣םvay.tza.VemH6680them, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Thisזֶ֥הzehH2088is the thingהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697that you shall doתַּעֲשׂ֑וּןta.'a.SunH6213:a thirdהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֤יתha.she.li.ShitH7992of you, who comeבָּאֵ֣יba.'EiH935inH935on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֔תha.sha.BatH7676and keepוְשֹׁ֣מְרֵ֔יve.Sho.me.ReiH8104watchמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶתmish.Me.retH4931over the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004

6(a thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙ve.ha.she.li.ShitH7992also shall beat the gateבְּשַׁ֣עַרbe.Sha.'arH8179Surס֔וּרSurH5495,and a thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֥יתve.ha.she.li.ShitH7992at the gateבַּשַּׁ֖עַרba.Sha.'arH8179behindאַחַ֣ר'a.CharH310theguardsהָרָצִ֑יםha.ra.TzimH7323),shall keepוּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֛םu.she.mar.TemH8104watchמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶתmish.Me.retH4931over the houseהַבַּ֖יִתha.Ba.yitH1004for defenseמַסָּֽח׃ma.SachH4535.

7And twoוּשְׁתֵּ֤יu.she.TeiH8147partsהַיָּדוֹת֙hai.ya.dOtH3027of you, allכֹּ֖לkolH3605who goיֹצְאֵ֣יyo.tze.'EiH3318outH3318on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676,shall also keepוְשָֽׁמְר֛וּve.sha.me.RuH8104watchמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶתmish.Me.retH4931over the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068for the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.

8Then you shall surroundוְהִקַּפְתֶּ֨ם עַל־ סָבִ֗יבve.hi.kaf.Tem 'al- sa.VivH5362 H5439 H5921the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,eachאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376with his weaponsוְכֵלָ֣יוve.khe.LavH3627in his handבְּיָד֔וֹbe.ya.DoH3027;and whoever comesH935withinאֶל־'el-H413the ranksהַשְּׂדֵר֖וֹתha.se.de.RotH7713shall be putיוּמָ֑תyu.MatH4191toH4191deathH4191. Andyou are to be with the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428when he goesH3318outH3318and when he comesH935inH935.”

9So the captainsשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֗וֹתha.me.yotH3967actedוַֽיַּעֲשׂ֞וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213in accordance with everythingכְּכֹ֣לke.KholH3605that Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֣עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵן֒ha.ko.HenH3548commandedצִוָּה֮tzi.VahH6680.And eachH376oneH376of them tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947his menH376who were to comeH935inH935on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֔תha.sha.BatH7676,alongH5973withH5973those who were to goH3318outH3318on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676,and they cameH935to Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֥עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵֽן׃ha.ko.HenH3548.

10Thenthe priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548gaveוַיִּתֵּ֨ןvai.yi.TenH5414the captainsלְשָׂרֵ֣יle.sa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֗וֹתha.me.yotH3967the spearsהַחֲנִית֙ha.cha.NitH2595and shieldsהַשְּׁלָטִ֔יםha.she.la.TimH7982that had beenKingלַמֶּ֣לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428David’sדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732,whichH834werein the houseבְּבֵ֥יתbe.VeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
