26ThenJeroboamוְיָרָבְעָם֩ve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֨טne.VatH5028,an Ephraimiteאֶפְרָתִ֜י'ef.ra.TiH673of Zeredahהַצְּרֵדָ֗הha.tze.re.DahH6868,Solomon’sלִשְׁלֹמֹ֑הlish.lo.MohH8010servantעֶ֖בֶד'E.vedH5650,whose mother’sאִמּוֹ֙'i.MoH517nameוְשֵׁ֤םve.ShemH8034was Zeruahצְרוּעָה֙tze.ru.'AhH6871,a widowאַלְמָנָ֔ה'al.ma.NahH490, alsorebelledוַיָּ֥רֶם יָ֖דvai.Ya.rem yadH7311 H3027against the kingבַּמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ba.Me.lekhH4428.

27Now thisוְזֶ֣הve.ZehH2088was the reasonהַדָּבָ֔רha.da.VarH1697whyאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834herebelledהֵרִ֥ים יָ֖דhe.Rim yadH7311 H3027against the kingבַּמֶּ֑לֶךְba.Me.lekhH4428:Solomonשְׁלֹמֹה֙she.lo.MohH8010builtבָּנָ֣הba.NahH1129theMilloהַמִּלּ֔וֹאha.mi.Lo'H4407, andclosedH5462upH5462the breachפֶּ֕רֶץPe.retzH6556of the cityעִ֖יר'irH5892of his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1Davidדָּוִ֥דda.VidH1732.

28Now the manוְהָאִ֥ישׁve.ha.'IshH376Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379was a valiantחָ֑יִלCha.yilH2428warriorגִּבּ֣וֹרgi.BorH1368, and whenSolomonשְׁלֹמֹ֜הshe.lo.MohH8010sawוַיַּ֨רְאvai.Yar'H7200that the youngהַנַּ֗עַרha.Na.'arH5288manH5288wasindustriousעֹשֵׂ֤ה מְלָאכָה֙'o.Seh me.la.KhahH4399 H6213,he appointedוַיַּפְקֵ֣דvai.yaf.KedH6485him over allלְכָל־le.kholH3605theforcedH5447laborH5447of the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Josephיוֹסֵֽף׃ סyo.SefH3130.

29And it cameH1961aboutH1961at that timeבָּעֵ֣תba.'EtH6256,when Jeroboamוְיָֽרָבְעָ֖םve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379wentH3318outH3318of Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִָ֑םmi.ru.sha.LimH3389, thatthe prophetהַנָּבִ֜יאha.na.Vi'H5030Ahijahאֲחִיָּה֩'a.chi.YahH281the Shiloniteהַשִּׁילֹנִ֨יha.shi.lo.NiH7888foundוַיִּמְצָ֣אvai.yim.Tza'H4672him on the roadבַּדֶּ֗רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870. NowAhijah had clothedמִתְכַּסֶּה֙mit.ka.SehH3680himself with a newחֲדָשָׁ֔הcha.da.ShahH2319cloakבְּשַׂלְמָ֣הbe.sal.MahH8008;and bothוּשְׁנֵיהֶ֥םu.she.nei.HemH8147of them were aloneלְבַדָּ֖םle.va.DamH905in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ba.sa.DehH7704.

30ThenAhijahאֲחִיָּ֔ה'a.chi.YahH281tookH8610holdH8610of the newהַחֲדָשָׁ֖הha.cha.da.ShahH2319cloakבַּשַּׂלְמָ֥הba.sal.MahH8008whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834was on him and toreוַיִּ֨קְרָעֶ֔הָvai.Yik.ra.'E.haH7167it into twelveשְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖רshe.Neim 'a.SarH8147 H6240piecesקְרָעִֽים׃ke.ra.'ImH7168.

31And he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to Jeroboamלְיָֽרָבְעָ֔םle.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379, “Takeקַח־kach-H3947for yourself tenעֲשָׂרָ֣ה'a.sa.RahH6235piecesקְרָעִ֑יםke.ra.'ImH7168;for thisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559: ‘BeholdH2009,I am going to tearקֹרֵ֤עַko.Re.a'H7167the kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָה֙ha.mam.la.KhahH4467awayH7167from the handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010and giveוְנָתַתִּ֣יve.na.ta.TiH5414you tenעֲשָׂרָ֥ה'a.sa.RahH6235tribesהַשְּׁבָטִֽים׃ha.she.va.TimH7626

32(but he shall haveיִֽהְיֶה־yih.yeh-H1961oneהָאֶחָ֖דha.'e.ChadH259tribeוְהַשֵּׁ֥בֶטve.ha.She.vetH7626,for the sakeלְמַ֣עַן׀le.Ma.'anH4616of My servantעַבְדִּ֣י'av.DiH5650Davidדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732and for the sakeוּלְמַ֙עַן֙u.le.Ma.'anH4616of Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389,the cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I have chosenבָּחַ֣רְתִּיba.Char.tiH977from allמִכֹּ֖לmi.KolH3605the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֥יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478),

33becauseיַ֣עַן׀ אֲשֶׁ֣רYa.'an 'a.SherH3282 H834they have abandonedעֲזָב֗וּנִי'a.za.Vu.niH5800Me, andhave worshipedH2331AshtorethH6252the goddessאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of the Sidoniansצִֽדֹנִין֒tzi.do.NinH6722,Chemoshלִכְמוֹשׁ֙likh.mo.VoshH3645the godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124,and Milcomוּלְמִלְכֹּ֖םu.le.mil.KomH4445the godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Ammonעַמּ֑וֹןa.MonH5983;and they have not walkedהָלְכ֣וּha.le.KhuH1980in My waysבִדְרָכַ֗יvid.ra.KhaiH1870,doingלַעֲשׂ֨וֹתla.'a.SotH6213whatH3477isH3477rightהַיָּשָׁ֧רhai.ya.SharH3477in My sightבְּעֵינַ֛יbe.'ei.NaiH5869and keepingMy statutesוְחֻקֹּתַ֥יve.chu.ko.TaiH2708and My ordinancesוּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖יu.mish.pa.TaiH4941,as his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1Davidכְּדָוִ֥דke.da.VidH1732did.

34Nevertheless I will not takeאֶקַּ֥ח'e.KachH3947the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָ֖הha.mam.la.KhahH4467out of his handמִיָּד֑וֹmi.ya.DoH3027,but I will makeאֲשִׁתֶ֗נּוּ'a.shi.Te.nuH7896him rulerנָשִׂ֣יאna.Si'H5387allכֹּ֚לkolH3605the daysיְמֵ֣יye.MeiH3117of his lifeH2425,for the sakeלְמַ֨עַןle.Ma.'anH4616of My servantעַבְדִּי֙'av.DiH5650Davidדָּוִ֤דda.VidH1732whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I choseבָּחַ֣רְתִּיba.Char.tiH977,whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834keptשָׁמַ֖רsha.MarH8104My commandmentsמִצְוֹתַ֥יmitz.vo.TaiH4687and My statutesוְחֻקֹּתָֽי׃ve.chu.ko.TaiH2708;

35butI will takeוְלָקַחְתִּ֥יve.la.kach.TiH3947the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָ֖הha.me.lu.KhahH4410from his son’sבְּנ֑וֹbe.NoH1121handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027and giveוּנְתַתִּ֣יהָu.ne.ta.Ti.haH5414it to you; that is,tenעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת'a.Se.retH6235tribesהַשְּׁבָטִֽים׃ha.she.va.TimH7626.

36Butto his sonוְלִבְנ֖וֹve.liv.NoH1121I will giveאֶתֵּ֣ן'e.TenH5414oneאֶחָ֑ד'e.ChadH259tribeשֵֽׁבֶט־she.vet-H7626,soלְמַ֣עַןle.Ma.'anH4616thatH4616My servantעַ֠בְדִּי'Av.diH5650Davidלְדָֽוִיד־le.da.vid-H1732may alwaysכָּֽל־ הַיָּמִ֤ים׀kal- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117haveהֱיֽוֹת־he.yot-H1961a lampH5215beforeלְפָנַי֙le.fa.NaiH6440Me in Jerusalemבִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.Ru.sha.LimH3389,the cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892whereאֲשֶׁ֣ר שָֽׁם׃'a.Sher ShamH834 H8033I have chosenבָּחַ֣רְתִּיba.Char.tiH977for Myself to putלָשׂ֥וּםla.SumH7760My nameשְׁמִ֖יshe.MiH8034.

37However I will takeאֶקַּ֔ח'e.KachH3947you, and you shall reignוּמָ֣לַכְתָּ֔u.Ma.lakh.taH4427over allבְּכֹ֥לbe.KholH3605thatyou desireתְּאַוֶּ֖הte.'a.VehH183,and you shall be kingמֶּ֖לֶךְMe.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

38Then it shall be, that ifאִם־'im-H518you listenתִּשְׁמַע֮tish.Ma'H8085to allכָּל־kol-H3605that I commandאֲצַוֶּךָ֒'a.tza.ve.KhaH6680you and walkוְהָלַכְתָּ֣ve.ha.lakh.TaH1980in My waysבִדְרָכַ֗יvid.ra.KhaiH1870,and doוְעָשִׂ֨יתָve.'a.Si.taH6213whatH3477isH3477rightהַיָּשָׁ֤רhai.ya.SharH3477in My sightבְּעֵינַי֙be.'ei.NaiH5869by keepingלִשְׁמ֤וֹרlish.MorH8104My statutesחֻקּוֹתַי֙chu.ko.TaiH2708and My commandmentsוּמִצְוֹתַ֔יu.mitz.vo.TaiH4687,as My servantעַבְדִּ֑י'av.DiH5650Davidדָּוִ֣דda.VidH1732didעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213, then I will be with you andbuildוּבָנִ֨יתִיu.va.Ni.tiH1129you an enduringנֶאֱמָן֙ne.'e.ManH539houseבַֽיִת־va.yit-H1004as I builtבָּנִ֣יתִיba.Ni.tiH1129for Davidלְדָוִ֔דle.da.VidH1732,and I will giveוְנָתַתִּ֥יve.na.ta.TiH5414Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478to you.

39So I will oppressוַֽאעַנֶּ֛הva.'a.NehH6031thedescendantsזֶ֥רַעZe.ra'H2233of Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732for thisH2088,but not alwaysכָל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃ סkhol- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117.’”

40Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֖הshe.lo.MohH8010soughtוַיְבַקֵּ֥שׁvay.va.KeshH1245therefore to putלְהָמִ֣יתle.ha.MitH4191Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֑םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379toH4191deathH4191;but Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֗םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379setH6965outH6965and fledוַיִּבְרַ֤חvai.yiv.RachH1272to Egyptמִצְרַ֙יִם֙mitz.Ra.yimH4714toShishakשִׁישַׁ֣קshi.ShakH7895kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,and he was in Egyptבְמִצְרַ֖יִםve.mitz.Ra.yimH4714untilעַד־'ad-H5704the deathמ֥וֹתMotH4194of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃she.lo.MohH8010.
