1Now it cameH1961aboutH1961when Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010had finishedכְּכַלּ֣וֹתke.kha.LotH3615buildingלִבְנ֥וֹתliv.NotH1129the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068andthe king’sהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004, andallכָּל־kol-H3605that Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010desiredחֵ֣שֶׁק חָפֵ֖ץChe.shek cha.FetzH2837 H2654to doלַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ פla.'a.SotH6213,

2thatthe Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068appearedוַיֵּרָ֧אvai.ye.Ra'H7200to Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֖הshe.lo.MohH8010a secondשֵׁנִ֑יתshe.NitH8145timeH8145,as He had appearedנִרְאָ֥הnir.'AhH7200to him at Gibeonבְּגִבְעֽוֹן׃be.giv.'onH1391.

3And the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “I have heardשָׁ֠מַעְתִּיSha.ma'.tiH8085your prayerתְּפִלָּתְךָ֣te.fi.la.te.KhaH8605and your pleaתְּחִנָּתְךָ֮te.chi.na.te.KhaH8467whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you have offeredהִתְחַנַּ֣נְתָּהhit.cha.Nan.tahH2603beforeלְפָנַי֒le.fa.NaiH6440Me; I have consecratedהִקְדַּ֗שְׁתִּיhik.Dash.tiH6942thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088houseהַבַּ֤יִתha.Ba.yitH1004whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you have builtבָּנִ֔תָהba.Ni.tahH1129,by puttingלָשֽׂוּם־la.sum-H7760My nameשְׁמִ֥יshe.MiH8034thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033foreverעַד־ עוֹלָ֑ם'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769, andMy eyesעֵינַ֧י'ei.NaiH5869and My heartוְלִבִּ֛יve.li.BiH3820will be thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033alwaysכָּל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃kol- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117.

6“But ifאִם־'im-H518you or your sonsוּבְנֵיכֶם֙u.ve.nei.KhemH1121indeedH7725turnH7725awayH7725from followingמֵֽאַחֲרַ֔יme.'a.cha.RaiH310Me, and do not keepתִשְׁמְרוּ֙tish.me.RuH8104My commandmentsמִצְוֹתַ֣יmitz.vo.TaiH4687and My statutesחֻקֹּתַ֔יchu.ko.TaiH2708whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834I have placedנָתַ֖תִּיna.Ta.tiH5414beforeלִפְנֵיכֶ֑םlif.nei.KhemH6440you, but you goוַהֲלַכְתֶּ֗םva.ha.lakh.TemH1980and serveוַעֲבַדְתֶּם֙va.'a.vad.TemH5647otherאֲחֵרִ֔ים'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֣ים'E.lo.HimH430and worshipH2331them,

7then I will cutוְהִכְרַתִּ֣יve.hikh.ra.TiH3772Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478offH3772from the landהָאֲדָמָה֙ha.'a.da.MahH127whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I have givenנָתַ֣תִּיna.Ta.tiH5414them, andthe houseהַבַּ֙יִת֙ha.Ba.yitH1004whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I have consecratedהִקְדַּ֣שְׁתִּיhik.Dash.tiH6942for My nameלִשְׁמִ֔יlish.MiH8034, I willexpelאֲשַׁלַּ֖ח'a.sha.LachH7971from My sightH6440. SoIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478will becomeוְהָיָ֧הve.ha.YahH1961a sayingלְמָשָׁ֥לle.ma.ShalH4912and an objectH8148ofH8148derisionH8148among allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605peoplesהָעַמִּֽים׃ha.'a.MimH5971.

8And thisH2088houseוְהַבַּ֤יִתve.ha.Ba.yitH1004will becomeיִהְיֶ֣הyih.YehH1961a heapH5856ofH5856ruinsH5856;everyoneכָּל־kol-H3605who passesעֹבֵ֥ר'o.VerH5674by it will beH8074appalledH8074andhissוְשָׁרָ֑קve.sha.RakH8319and sayוְאָמְר֗וּve.'a.me.RuH559, ‘Whyמֶ֨הmehH5921 H4100has the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068doneעָשָׂ֤ה'a.SahH6213suchH3602aH3602thingH3602to thisH2088landלָאָ֥רֶץla.'A.retzH776and thisH2088houseוְלַבַּ֥יִתve.la.Ba.yitH1004?’

9And they will sayוְאָמְר֗וּve.'a.me.RuH559, ‘Becauseאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH5921 H834they abandonedעָזְב֜וּ'a.ze.VuH5800the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֗ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430,whoאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834broughtH3318their fathersאֲבֹתָם֮'a.vo.TamH1outH3318of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַיִם֒mitz.ra.YimH4714, and theyadoptedוַֽיַּחֲזִ֙קוּ֙vai.ya.cha.Zi.kuH2388otherאֲחֵרִ֔ים'a.che.RimH312godsבֵּאלֹהִ֣יםbe.lo.HimH430and worshipedH2331and servedוַיַּעַבְדֻ֑םvai.ya.'av.DumH5647them, for thatH3651reasonH3651the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has broughtהֵבִ֤יאhe.Vi'H935allכָּל־kol-H3605thisH2088adversityH7463on them.’”

11(Hiramחִירָ֣םchi.RamH2438kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Tyreצֹ֠רtzorH6865had suppliedנִשָּׂ֨אni.Sa'H5375Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֜הshe.lo.MohH8010with cedarאֲרָזִ֨ים'a.ra.ZimH730and juniperבְרוֹשִׁ֛יםve.ro.ShimH1265timberH6086and goldוּבַזָּהָ֖בu.va.za.HavH2091,satisfying allלְכָל־le.kholH3605his desireחֶפְצ֑וֹchef.TzoH2656),that Kingהַמֶּ֨לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֤הshe.lo.MohH8010thenאָ֡ז'azH227gaveיִתֵּן֩yi.TenH5414Hiramלְחִירָם֙le.chi.RamH2438twentyעֶשְׂרִ֣ים'es.RimH6242citiesעִ֔יר'IrH5892in the landבְּאֶ֖רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Galileeהַגָּלִֽיל׃ha.ga.LilH1551.

12So Hiramחִירָם֙chi.RamH2438leftוַיֵּצֵ֤אvai.ye.Tze'H3318Tyreמִצֹּ֔רmi.TzorH6865to seeלִרְאוֹת֙lir.'OtH7200the citiesהֶ֣עָרִ֔יםhe.'a.RimH5892whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֑הshe.lo.MohH8010had givenנָתַן־na.tan-H5414him, and theydid not pleaseיָשְׁר֖וּ בְּעֵינָֽיו׃ya.she.Ru be.'ei.NavH3474 H5869him.

13And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whatמָ֚הmahH4100are theseהָאֵ֔לֶּהha.'E.lehH428citiesהֶעָרִ֣יםhe.'a.RimH5892whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you have givenנָתַ֥תָּהna.Ta.tahH5414me, my brotherאָחִ֑י'a.ChiH251?” Sothey have been calledוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776ofCabulכָּב֔וּלka.VulH3521to thisהַזֶּֽה׃ פha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.

17So Solomonשְׁלֹמֹה֙she.lo.MohH8010rebuiltוַיִּ֤בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129Gezerגָּ֔זֶרGa.zerH1507and the lowerתַּחְתּֽוֹן׃tach.TonH8481Beth-horonH1032,

18andBaalathבַּעֲלָ֛תba.'a.LatH1191and TamarH8559in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֖רba.mid.BarH4057,in the landבָּאָֽרֶץ׃ba.'A.retzH776of Judah,

22But Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֖הshe.lo.MohH8010did not makeנָתַ֥ןna.TanH5414slavesעָ֑בֶד'A.vedH5650of the sonsוּמִבְּנֵי֙u.mi.be.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;for they were menH376of warהַמִּלְחָמָ֗הha.mil.cha.MahH4421,his servantsוַעֲבָדָיו֙va.'a.va.DavH5650,his commandersוְשָׂרָ֣יוve.sa.RavH8269,his charioteersוְשָׁלִשָׁ֔יוve.sha.li.ShavH7991,his chariotרִכְבּ֖וֹrikh.BoH7393commandersוְשָׂרֵ֥יve.sa.ReiH8269,and his horsemenוּפָרָשָֽׁיו׃ סu.fa.ra.ShavH6571.
