10Now when Joabיוֹאָ֗בyo.'AvH3097sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200that thebattleהַמִּלְחָמָ֛הha.mil.cha.MahH4421was set againstאֵלָ֖יו'e.LavH413him at the frontH6440and at the rearוְאָח֑וֹרve.'a.ChorH268,he selectedH977warriorsfrom allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605the choiceH970menH970in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478and linedH6186themupH6186againstלִקְרַ֥אתlik.RatH7122the Arameansאֲרָֽם׃'a.RamH758.

11But the remainderיֶ֣תֶרYe.terH3499of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971he placedנָתַ֕ןna.TanH5414under the commandבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027ofAbshaiאַבְשַׁ֣י'av.ShaiH52his brotherאָחִ֑יו'a.ChivH251;and they linedH6186upH6186againstלִקְרַ֖אתlik.RatH7122the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּֽוֹן׃a.MonH5983.

12He saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518the Arameansאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758are tooמִמֶּ֙נִּי֙mi.Me.niH4480strongתֶּחֱזַ֤קte.che.ZakH2388for me, then you shall helpוְהָיִ֥יתָ לִתְשׁוּעָ֑ה סve.ha.Yi.ta lit.shu.'AhH1961 H8668me; but ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּ֛וֹןa.MonH5983are tooמִמְּךָ֖mi.me.KhaH4480strongיֶֽחֶזְק֥וּye.chez.KuH2388for you, then I will helpוְהוֹשַׁעְתִּֽיךָ׃ve.ho.sha'.Ti.khaH3467you.

13Be strongH2388,and let’s showH2388ourselves courageousH2388for the benefitH1157of our peopleעַמֵּ֔נוּ'a.Me.nuH5971and the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of our Godאֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430;and may the Lordוַֽיהוָ֔הva.Yah.wehH3068doיַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ya.'a.SehH6213whatH2896isH2896goodהַטּ֥וֹבha.TovH2896in His sightבְּעֵינָ֖יוbe.'ei.NavH5869.”

14So Joabיוֹאָ֜בyo.'AvH3097and the peopleוְהָעָ֧םve.ha.'AmH5971whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834were with him advancedוַיִּגַּ֨שׁvai.yi.GashH5066to battleלַמִּלְחָמָ֑הla.mil.cha.MahH4421againstH6440the Arameansאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758,and they fledוַיָּנ֖וּסוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127from him.

15When the sonsוּבְנֵ֨יu.ve.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּ֤וֹןa.MonH5983sawרָאוּ֙ra.'UH7200that the Arameansאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758had fledנָ֣סnasH5127,they alsoגַם־gam-H1571fledוַיָּנ֣וּסוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127from his brotherאָחִ֔יו'a.ChivH251Abshaiאַבְשַׁ֣י'av.ShaiH52and enteredוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935the cityהָעִ֑ירָהha.'I.rahH5892.Then Joabיוֹאָ֖בyo.'AvH3097cameוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935to Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ פye.ru.sha.LimH3389.
