Genesis 6:8 in other versions
Context of Genesis 6:8
6So the Lord was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7Then the Lord said, “I will wipe out mankind whom I have created from the face of the land; mankind, and animals as well, and crawling things, and the birds of the sky. For I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 9These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God. 10And Noah fathered three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-11Verses 8-11 Noah did not find favour in the eyes of men; they hated and persecuted him, because both by his life and preaching he condemned the world: but he found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and this made him more truly honourable than the men of renown. Let this be our chief desire, let us labour that we may be accepted of him. When the rest of the world was wicked, Noah kept his integrity. God's good-will towards Noah produced this good work in him…Read the comment
