Numbers 21:8-30
8Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “1MakeH6213 a 2fieryH8314 serpent, and setH7760 it on a standardH5251; and it shall comeH1961 about, that everyoneH3605 who is bittenH5391, when he looksH7200 at it, he will liveH2421.” 9And MosesH4872 madeH6213 a 3bronzeH5178 serpentH5175 and setH7760 it on the standardH5251; and it cameH1961 about, that ifH518 a serpentH5175 bitH5391 anyH376 manH376, when he lookedH5027 to the bronzeH5178 serpentH5175, he livedH2421.
104Now the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 movedH5265 out and campedH2583 in ObothH88. 11They journeyedH5265 from ObothH88 and campedH2583 at Iye-abarimH5863, in the wildernessH4057 whichH834 is oppositeH5921H6440 MoabH4124, to the 5eastH4217H8121. 126From thereH8033 they setH5265 out and campedH2583 in 7WadiH5158 ZeredH2218. 13From thereH8033 they journeyedH5265 and campedH2583 on the otherH5676 sideH5676 of the ArnonH769, whichH834 is in the wildernessH4057 that comesH3318 out of the borderH1366 of the AmoritesH567, 8for the ArnonH769 is the borderH1366 of MoabH4124, betweenH996 MoabH4124 and the AmoritesH567. 14ThereforeH5921H3651 it is saidH559 in the BookH5612 of the WarsH4421 of the LordH3068, “WahebH2052 in SuphahH5492, And the wadisH5158 of the ArnonH769,15And the slopeH793 of the wadisH5158 That extendsH5186 to the siteH7675 of 9ArH6144, And leansH8172 to the borderH1366 of MoabH4124.”
1610From thereH8033 they continued to 11BeerH876, that is the wellH875 whereH834 the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “AssembleH622 the peopleH5971, that I may giveH5414 them waterH4325.”
1712ThenH227 IsraelH3478 sangH7891 thisH2088 songH7892: “SpringH5927 up, O wellH875! SingH6031 to it!18The wellH875, which the leadersH8269 sankH2658, Which the noblesH5081 of the peopleH5971 dugH3738, With the scepterH2710 and with their staffsH4938.” And from the wildernessH4057 they continued to MattanahH4980, 19and from MattanahH4980 to NahalielH5160, and from NahalielH5160 to BamothH1120, 20and from BamothH1120 to the valleyH1516 that is in the landH7704 of MoabH4124, at the topH7218 of PisgahH6449 which overlooksH5921H6440H8259 the 13wastelandH3452.
2114Then IsraelH3478 sentH7971 messengersH4397 to SihonH5511, kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, sayingH559, 22“15Let me passH5674 throughH5674 your landH776. We will not turnH5186 off into fieldH7704 or vineyardH3754; we will not drinkH8354 waterH4325 from wellsH875. We will goH1980 by the king’sH4428 highwayH1870 untilH5704H834 we have passedH5674 throughH5674 your borderH1366.” 2316But SihonH5511 would not permitH5414 IsraelH3478 to passH5674 throughH5674 his borderH1366. So SihonH5511 gatheredH622 allH3605 his peopleH5971 and wentH3318 out againstH7122 IsraelH3478 in the wildernessH4057, and cameH935 to 17JahazH3096 and foughtH3898 against IsraelH3478. 24Then 18IsraelH3478 19struckH5221 him with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and tookH3423 possessionH3423 of his landH776 from the ArnonH769 to the JabbokH2999, as farH5704 as the sonsH1121 of AmmonH5983; for the 20borderH1366 of the sonsH1121 of AmmonH5983 was 21JazerH3270. 25IsraelH3478 tookH3947 allH3605 theseH428 citiesH5892 and 22IsraelH3478 livedH3427 in allH3605 the citiesH5892 of the AmoritesH567, in HeshbonH2809, and in allH3605 her 23villagesH1323. 26For HeshbonH2809 was the cityH5892 of SihonH5511, kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, whoH1931 had foughtH3898 against the formerH7223 kingH4428 of MoabH4124 and had takenH3947 allH3605 his landH776 out of his handH3027, as farH5704 as the ArnonH769. 27ThereforeH5921H3651 those who useH4911 proverbsH4911 sayH559, “ComeH935 to HeshbonH2809! Let it be builtH1129! So let the cityH5892 of SihonH5511 be establishedH3559.2824For a fireH784 wentH3318 forthH3318 from HeshbonH2809, A flameH3852 from the townH7151 of SihonH5511; It devouredH398 25ArH6144 of MoabH4124, The 2627dominantH1167 28heightsH1181 of the ArnonH769.2929WoeH188 to you, O MoabH4124! You are ruinedH6, O peopleH5971 of 30ChemoshH3645! 31He has givenH5414 his sonsH1121 as fugitivesH6412, 32And his daughtersH1323 into captivityH7622, To an AmoriteH567 kingH4428, SihonH5511.30But we have castH3384 them downH3384, HeshbonH2809 is ruinedH6 as farH5704 as 33DibonH1769, Then we have laidH8074 wasteH8074 evenH5704 to NophahH5302, WhichH834 reaches to MedebaH4311.”
