1In the firstH259 yearH8141 of 1DariusH1867 the sonH1121 of AhasuerusH325, of MedianH4074 descentH2233, whoH834 was madeH4427 kingH4427 overH5921 the kingdomH4438 of the ChaldeansH3778-- 2in the firstH259 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, I, DanielH1840, observedH995 in the booksH5612 the numberH4557 of the yearsH8141 whichH834 was revealed as the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 to 2JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030 for the completionH4390 of the desolationsH2723 of JerusalemH3389, namely, 3seventyH7657 yearsH8141. 3So I 4gaveH5414 my attentionH6440 to the LordH136 GodH430 to seekH1245 Him by prayerH8605 and supplicationsH8469, with fastingH6685, sackclothH8242 and ashesH665. 4I prayedH6419 to the LordH3068 my GodH430 and confessedH3034 and saidH559, “AlasH577, O LordH136, the 5greatH1419 and awesomeH3372 GodH410, who 6keepsH8104 His covenantH1285 and lovingkindnessH2617 for those who loveH157 Him and keepH8104 His commandmentsH4687, 57we have sinnedH2398, committedH5753 iniquityH5753, actedH7561 wickedlyH7561 and 8rebelledH4775, even 9turningH5493 asideH5493 from Your commandmentsH4687 and ordinancesH4941. 6Moreover, we have not 10listenedH8085 to Your servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, whoH834 spokeH1696 in Your nameH8034 to our kingsH4428, our princesH8269, our fathersH1 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 of the landH776.

15“And nowH6258, O LordH136 our GodH430, whoH834 have 35broughtH3318 Your peopleH5971 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 with a mightyH2389 handH3027 and have 36madeH6213 a nameH8034 for Yourself, as it is thisH2088 dayH3117--we have sinnedH2398, we have beenH7561 wickedH7561. 16O LordH136, in accordance with allH3605 Your 37righteousH6666 actsH6666, let nowH4994 Your 38angerH639 and Your wrathH2534 turnH7725 awayH7725 from Your cityH5892 JerusalemH3389, Your 39holyH6944 mountainH2022; for becauseH3588 of our sinsH2399 and the iniquitiesH5771 of our fathersH1, JerusalemH3389 and Your peopleH5971 have become a 40reproachH2781 to allH3605 those aroundH5439 us. 17So nowH6258, our GodH430, listenH8085 to the prayerH8605 of Your servantH5650 and to his supplicationsH8469, and for 41Your sakeH4616, O LordH136, 42let Your faceH6440 shineH215 on Your 43desolateH8076 sanctuaryH4720. 18O my GodH430, 44inclineH5186 Your earH241 and hearH8085! 20Now whileH5750 I was 51speakingH1696 and prayingH6419, and 52confessingH3034 my sinH2403 and the sinH2403 of my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and 53presentingH5307 my supplicationH8467 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 my GodH430 in behalfH5921 of the holyH6944 mountainH2022 of my GodH430, 21whileH5750 I was stillH5750 speakingH1696 in prayerH8605, then the manH376 54GabrielH1403, whomH834 I had seenH7200 in the visionH2377 55previouslyH8462, 56cameH5060 to me 57in my extremeH3286 wearinessH3288 about the timeH6256 of the 58eveningH6153 offeringH4503. 22He gaveH995 me instructionH995 and talkedH1696 with me and saidH559, “O DanielH1840, I have nowH6258 comeH3318 forthH3318 to giveH7919 you insightH7919 with 59understandingH998. 23At the 60beginningH8462 of your supplicationsH8469 the 61commandH1697 was issuedH3318, and I have comeH935 to tellH5046 you, for you are 6263highlyH2536 esteemedH2536; so giveH995 heedH995 to the messageH1697 and gainH995 64understandingH995 of the visionH4758.

Seventy Weeks and the Messiah

24“SeventyH7657 6566weeksH7620 have been decreedH2852 for your peopleH5971 and your holyH6944 cityH5892, to 67finishH3615 the transgressionH6588, to 68makeH8552 an endH8552 of sinH2403, to 69makeH3722 atonementH3722 for iniquityH5771, to bringH935 in 70everlastingH5769 righteousnessH6664, to sealH2856 up visionH2377 and 71prophecyH5030 and to anointH4886 the mostH6944 holyH6944 place. 25So you are to knowH3045 and discernH7919 that from the issuingH4161 of a 7273decreeH1697 to restoreH7725 and rebuildH1129 JerusalemH3389 untilH5704 7475MessiahH4899 the 76PrinceH5057 there will be sevenH7655 weeksH7620 and sixty-twoH8346H8147 weeksH7620; it will be builtH1129 againH7725, with 77plazaH7339 and moatH2742, even in timesH6256 of distressH6695. 26Then afterH310 the sixty-twoH8346H8147 weeksH7620 the 78MessiahH4899 will be 79cutH3772 offH3772 and haveH369 80nothingH369, and the peopleH5971 of the princeH5057 who is to comeH935 will 81destroyH7843 the cityH5892 and the sanctuaryH6944. And 82its endH7093 will come with a 83floodH7858; even to the endH7093 84there will be warH4421; desolationsH8074 are determinedH2782. 27And he will makeH1396 a firmH1396 covenantH1285 with the manyH7227 for oneH259 weekH7620, but in the middleH2677 of the weekH7620 he will putH7673 a stopH7673 to sacrificeH2077 and grain offeringH4503; and on the wingH3671 of 8586abominationsH8251 will come one who 87makesH8074 desolateH8074, even untilH5704 a 88completeH3617 destructionH3617, one that is decreedH2782, is pouredH5413 out on the one who 89makesH8074 desolateH8074.”
