Vision of the Four Beasts
1In the firstH2298 yearH8140 of BelshazzarH1113 kingH4430 of BabylonH895 DanielH1841 sawH2370 a 1dreamH2493 and visionsH2376 2in his mindH7217 as he lay on his bedH4903; thenH116 he 3wroteH3790 the dreamH2493 downH3790 and relatedH560 the 4following summaryH7217 of 5it. 2DanielH1841 6saidH6032H560, “I was 7lookingH2370 in my visionH2376 by nightH3916, and beholdH718, the 8fourH703 windsH7308 of heavenH8065 were stirringH1519 up the greatH7229 seaH3221. 3And fourH703 greatH7229 9beastsH2423 were comingH5559 up from the seaH3221, differentH8133 from oneH1668 anotherH1668. 4The firstH6933 was 10like a lionH744 and had the wingsH1611 of an eagleH5403. I keptH1934 lookingH2370 untilH5705H1768 its wingsH1611 were pluckedH4804, and it was liftedH5191 up from the groundH772 and madeH6966 to standH6966 on two feetH7271 like a manH606; a humanH606 11mindH3825 also was givenH3052 to it. 5And beholdH718, anotherH321 beastH2423, a secondH8578 one, resemblingH1821 a bearH1678. And it was raisedH6966 up on oneH2298 sideH7859, and threeH8532 ribsH5967 were in its mouthH6433 betweenH997 its teethH8128; and thusH3652 they saidH560 to it, ‘AriseH6966, devourH399 muchH7690 meatH1321!’ 6AfterH870 thisH1836 I keptH1934 lookingH2370, and beholdH718, anotherH321 one, 12like a leopardH5245, whichH1768 had on its 13backH1355 fourH703 wingsH1611 of a birdH5776; the beastH2423 also had 14fourH703 headsH7217, and dominionH7985 was givenH3052 to it. 7AfterH870 thisH1836 I keptH1934 lookingH2370 in the nightH3916 visionsH2376, and beholdH718, a 15fourthH7244 beastH2423, dreadfulH1763 and terrifyingH368 and extremelyH3493 strongH8624; and it had largeH7229 ironH6523 teethH8128. It devouredH399 and crushedH1855 and trampledH7512 downH7512 the remainderH7606 with its feetH7271; and it was differentH8133 from allH3606 the beastsH2423 that were beforeH6925 it, and it had 16tenH6236 hornsH7162. 8While I was contemplatingH7920 the hornsH7162, beholdH431, 17anotherH321 hornH7162, a littleH2192 oneH2192, cameH5559 up amongH997 them, and threeH8532 of the firstH6933 hornsH7162 were pulledH6132 out by the rootsH6132 beforeH4481H6925 it; and beholdH431, 18thisH1668 hornH7162 possessed eyesH5870 like the eyesH5870 of a manH606 and 19a mouthH6433 utteringH4449 greatH7229 boasts.
The Ancient of Days Reigns
9“I keptH1934 lookingH2370 UntilH5705H1768 20thronesH3764 were setH7412 up, And the AncientH6268 of DaysH3118 tookH3488 His seatH3488; His 21vestureH3831 was like whiteH2358 snowH8517 And the 22hairH8177 of His headH7217 like pureH5343 woolH6015. His 23throneH3764 was 24ablazeH7631 with flamesH7631, Its 25wheelsH1535 were a burningH1815 fireH5135.10A riverH5103 of 26fireH5135 was flowingH5047 And comingH5312 out from beforeH6925 Him; 27ThousandsH506 upon thousandsH506 were attendingH8120 Him, And myriadsH7240 upon myriadsH7240 were standingH6966 beforeH6925 Him; The 28courtH1780 satH3488, And 29the booksH5609 were openedH6606. 11ThenH116 I keptH1934 lookingH2370 becauseH4481 of the soundH7032 of the 30boastfulH7229 wordsH4406 whichH1768 the hornH7162 was speakingH4449; I keptH1934 lookingH2370 untilH5705H1768 the beastH2423 was slainH6992, and its bodyH1655 was destroyedH7 and givenH3052 to the 31burningH3346 32fireH785. 12As for the restH7606 of the beastsH2423, their dominionH7985 was takenH5709 awayH5709, but an extensionH754 of lifeH2417 was grantedH3052 to them for an appointedH2166 periodH2166 of timeH5732.
The Son of Man Presented
13“I keptH1934 lookingH2370 in the nightH3916 visionsH2376, And beholdH718, with the cloudsH6050 of heavenH8065 One like a 33SonH1247 of ManH606 was comingH858, And He cameH4291 up to the AncientH6268 of DaysH3118 And was presentedH7127 beforeH6925 Him.14And to Him was givenH3052 34dominionH7985, GloryH3367 and 3536a kingdomH4437, 37That allH3606 the peoplesH5972, nationsH524 and men of every 38languageH3961 Might serveH6399 Him. 39His dominionH7985 is an everlastingH5957 dominionH7985 WhichH1768 will not passH5709 awayH5709; 40And His kingdomH4437 is one WhichH1768 will not be destroyedH2255.
The Vision Interpreted
15“As for me, DanielH1841, my spiritH7308 was distressedH3735 41withinH1459 me, and the 42visionsH2376 43in my mindH7217 kept 44alarmingH927 me. 16I approachedH7127 oneH2298 of those who were 45standingH6966 by and began askingH1156 him the 46exactH3330 meaningH3330 of allH3606 thisH1836. So he 47toldH560 me and madeH3046 knownH3046 to me the interpretationH6591 of these thingsH4406: 17‘TheseH459 greatH7229 beastsH2423, whichH1768 are fourH703 in number, are fourH703 kingsH4430 who will ariseH6966 from the earthH772. 18But the 4849saintsH6922 of the HighestH5946 OneH5946 will 50receiveH6902 the kingdomH4437 and possessH2631 the kingdomH4437 foreverH5957, 51for allH5957 agesH5957 to comeH5957.’
19“ThenH116 I desiredH6634 to knowH3321 the 52exactH3321 meaningH3321 of the 53fourthH7244 beastH2423, whichH1768 was differentH8133 from allH3606 54the others, exceedinglyH3493 dreadfulH1763, with its teethH8128 of ironH6523 and its clawsH2953 of bronzeH5174, and which devouredH399, crushedH1855 and trampledH7512 downH7512 the remainderH7606 with its feetH7271, 20and the meaning of the tenH6236 hornsH7162 that were on its headH7217 and the otherH321 horn whichH1768 cameH5559 up, and beforeH4481H6925 which threeH8532 of them fellH5308, namely, that hornH7162 which had eyesH5870 and a mouthH6433 utteringH4449 greatH7229 boasts and 55which was largerH7229 in appearanceH2376 thanH4481 its associatesH2273. 21I keptH1934 lookingH2370, and that hornH7162 was 56wagingH5648 warH7129 with the 57saintsH6922 and overpoweringH3202 them 22untilH5705H1768 the AncientH6268 of DaysH3118 cameH858 and 58judgmentH1780 was 59passedH3052 in favor of the 60saintsH6922 of the HighestH5946 OneH5946, and the timeH2166 arrivedH4291 when the 61saintsH6922 tookH2631 possessionH2631 of the kingdomH4437.
23“ThusH3652 he saidH560: ‘The fourthH7244 beastH2423 will be a fourthH7244 kingdomH4437 on the earthH772, whichH1768 will be differentH8133 from allH3606 the other kingdomsH4437 and will devourH399 the wholeH3606 earthH772 and treadH1759 it downH1759 and crushH1855 it. 24As for the 62tenH6236 hornsH7162, out of this kingdomH4437 tenH6236 kingsH4430 will ariseH6966; and anotherH321 will ariseH6966 afterH311 them, and he will be differentH8133 from the previousH6933 onesH6933 and will subdueH8214 threeH8532 kingsH4430. 25He will 63speakH4449 64out againstH6655 the 65MostH5943 HighH5943 and 66wearH1080 downH1080 the 67saintsH6922 of the HighestH5946 OneH5946, and he will intendH5452 to makeH8133 68alterationsH8133 in timesH2166 and in lawH1882; and 69they will be givenH3052 into his handH3028 for a 7071timeH5732, 72timesH5732, and halfH6387 a 73timeH5732. 26But the courtH1780 will sitH3488 for judgment, and his dominionH7985 will be 74takenH5709 awayH5709, 75annihilatedH8046 and destroyedH7 76foreverH5491. 27Then the 7778sovereigntyH4437, the dominionH7985 and the greatnessH7238 of all the kingdomsH4437 underH8460 the wholeH3606 heavenH8065 will be givenH3052 to the peopleH5972 of the 79saintsH6922 of the HighestH5946 OneH5946; His kingdomH4437 will be an 80everlastingH5957 kingdomH4437, and allH3606 the dominionsH7985 will 81serveH6399 and obeyH8086 Him.’
28“82At thisH3542 pointH3542 the revelationH4406 endedH5491. As for me, DanielH1841, my thoughtsH7476 were 83greatlyH7690 alarmingH927 me and my 84faceH2122 grewH8133 paleH8133, but I 85keptH5202 the matterH4406 86to myselfH3821.”
