Daniel 8
Vision of the Ram and Goat
1In the thirdH7969 yearH8141 of the reignH4438 of BelshazzarH1112 the kingH4428 a visionH2377 appearedH7200 to me, 1DanielH1840, subsequentH310 to the one which appearedH7200 to me 2previouslyH8462. 2I 3lookedH7200 in the visionH2377, and while I was lookingH7200 I was in the citadelH1002 of 4SusaH7800, whichH834 is in the provinceH4082 of 5ElamH5867; and I lookedH7200 in the visionH2377 and I myselfH589 was besideH5921 the UlaiH195 6CanalH180. 3Then I liftedH5375 my eyesH5869 and lookedH7200, and beholdH2009, a 7ramH352 which had two hornsH7161 was standingH5975 in frontH6440 of the 8canalH180. Now the two hornsH7161 were 9longH1364, but oneH259 was 10longerH1364 thanH4480 the otherH8145, with the 11longerH1364 oneH1364 comingH5927 up lastH314. 4I sawH7200 the ramH352 12buttingH5055 westwardH3220, northwardH6828, and southwardH5045, and noH3808 other beastsH2421 could standH5975 beforeH6440 him norH369 was thereH369 anyone to rescueH5337 from his 13powerH3027, but 14he didH6213 as he pleasedH7522 and magnifiedH1431 himself.
5While I was observingH995, beholdH2009, a maleH6842 goatH6842 was comingH935 from the westH4628 overH5921 the surfaceH6440 of the wholeH3605 earthH776 withoutH369 touchingH5060 the groundH776; and the 15goatH6842 had a 16conspicuousH2380 hornH7161 betweenH996 his eyesH5869. 6He cameH935 up to the ramH352 that had the two hornsH7161, whichH834 I had seenH7200 standingH5975 in frontH6440 of the 17canalH180, and rushedH7323 at him in his mightyH3581 wrathH2534. 7I sawH7200 him comeH5060 besideH681 the ramH352, and he was enragedH4843 at him; and he struckH5221 the ramH352 and shatteredH7665 his twoH8147 hornsH7161, and the ramH352 hadH1961 noH3808 strengthH3581 to withstandH5975 him. So he hurledH7993 him to the groundH776 and trampledH7429 on him, and there was noneH3808 to rescueH5337 the ramH352 from his 18powerH3027. 8Then the maleH6842 goatH5795 magnifiedH1431 himself exceedinglyH5704H3966. But as soon as 19he was mightyH6105, the 20largeH1419 hornH7161 was brokenH7665; and in its placeH8478 there cameH5927 up fourH702 conspicuousH2380 horns toward the 21fourH702 windsH7307 of heavenH8064.
The Little Horn
9Out of oneH259 of them cameH3318 forthH3318 a rather 22smallH6810 hornH7161 which grewH1431 exceedinglyH3499 greatH1431 towardH413 the southH5045, towardH413 the eastH4217, and towardH413 the 2324BeautifulH6643 Land. 10It grewH1431 up to the hostH6635 of heavenH8064 and caused someH4480 of the hostH6635 and someH4480 of the 25starsH3556 to fallH5307 to the earthH776, and it 26trampledH7429 them downH7429. 11It evenH5704 27magnifiedH1431 itself 28to be equalH5704 with the 29CommanderH8269 of the hostH6635; and it removedH7311 the 30regularH8548 sacrificeH8548 from Him, and the placeH4349 of His sanctuaryH4720 was thrownH7993 downH7993. 12And on account of transgressionH6588 the hostH6635 will be givenH5414 over to the horn alongH5921 with the regularH8548 sacrificeH8548; and it will 31flingH7993 truthH571 to the groundH776 and performH6213 its will and prosperH6743. 13Then I heardH8085 a 32holyH6918 oneH6918 speakingH1696, and anotherH259 holyH6918 oneH6918 saidH559 to that particularH6423 oneH6423 who was speakingH1696, “33HowH4970 longH5704H4970 will the visionH2377 about the regularH8548 sacrificeH8548 apply, 34while the transgressionH6588 causesH8074 horrorH8074, so as to allowH5414 both the holyH6944 place and the hostH6635 35to be 36trampledH4823?” 14He saidH559 to me, “For 372,300H505H7969H3967 eveningsH6153 and morningsH1242; then the holyH6944 place will be 38properlyH6663 restoredH6663.”
Interpretation of the Vision
15When 39I, DanielH1840, had seenH7200 the visionH2377, I soughtH1245 40to understandH998 it; and beholdH2009, standingH5975 beforeH5048 me was one 41whoH4758 lookedH4758 like a 42manH1397. 16And I heardH8085 the voiceH6963 of a manH120 betweenH996 the banks of UlaiH195, and he calledH7121 out and saidH559, “43GabrielH1403, giveH995 thisH1975 man an understandingH995 of the visionH4758.” 17So he cameH935 nearH681 to whereH5977 I was standingH5977, and when he cameH935 I was frightenedH1204 and 44fellH5307 on my faceH6440; but he saidH559 to me, “SonH1121 of manH120, understandH995 that the visionH2377 pertains to the 45timeH6256 of the endH7093.”
18Now while he was talkingH1696 with me, I 46sankH7290 into a deepH7290 sleepH7290 with my faceH6440 to the groundH776; but he 47touchedH5060 me and made me standH5975 48uprightH5921H5977. 19He saidH559, “BeholdH2009, I am going to 49let you knowH3045 whatH834 will occurH1961 at the finalH319 periodH319 of the indignationH2195, for it pertains to the appointedH4150 timeH4150 of the endH7093.
The Ram’s Identity
20The 50ramH352 whichH834 you sawH7200 with the two hornsH7161 represents the kingsH4428 of MediaH4074 and PersiaH6539.
The Goat
21The shaggyH8163 51goatH5795 represents the 52kingdomH4428 of GreeceH3120, and the largeH1419 hornH7161 that is betweenH996 his eyesH5869 is the firstH7223 kingH4428. 22The 53brokenH7665 horn and the fourH702 horns that aroseH5975 in its placeH8478 represent fourH702 kingdomsH4438 which will ariseH5975 from his nationH1471, although not with his powerH3581.23In the latterH319 periodH319 of their 54ruleH4438, When the transgressorsH6586 have 55runH8552 their course, A kingH4428 will ariseH5975, 56InsolentH5794H6440 and skilledH995 in 57intrigueH2420.24His powerH3581 will be mightyH6105, but not by his own powerH3581, And he will 5859destroyH7843 to an extraordinaryH6381 degreeH6381 And prosperH6743 and performH6213 his will; He will 60destroyH7843 mightyH6099 menH6099 and 61the holyH6918 peopleH5971.25And throughH5921 his shrewdnessH7922 He will cause deceitH4820 to succeedH6743 by his 62influenceH3027; And he will magnifyH1431 himself in his heartH3824, And he will 63destroyH7843 manyH7227 while they are 64at easeH7962. He will even 6566opposeH5975 the PrinceH8269 of princesH8269, But he will be brokenH7665 67withoutH657 68humanH3027 agencyH3027.26The visionH4758 of the eveningsH6153 and morningsH1242 WhichH834 has been toldH559 is 69trueH571; But 70keepH5640 the visionH2377 secretH5640, For it pertains to manyH7227 71daysH3117 in the future.”
27Then I, DanielH1840, was 7273exhaustedH1961 and sickH2470 for daysH3117. Then I gotH6965 up again and 74carriedH6213 on the king’sH4428 businessH4399; but I was astoundedH8074 at the visionH4758, and thereH369 was noneH369 to 75explainH995 it.
