Daniel 9
In the firstH259 yearH8141 of DariusH1867 sonH1121 of XerxesH325,1 a MedeH4074 by descentH2233, whoH834 was made rulerH4427 overH5921 the kingdomH4438 of the ChaldeansH37782— 2in the firstH259 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, IH589, DanielH1841, understoodH995 from the sacred booksH5612, according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 toH413 JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030, that the desolationH2723 of JerusalemH3389 would lastH4390 seventyH7657 yearsH8141.3 3So I turned my attentionH5414 toH413 the LordH136 GodH430 to seek HimH1245 by prayerH8605 and petitionH8469, with fastingH6685, sackclothH8242, and ashesH665.
And I prayedH6419 to the LORDH3068 my GodH430 and confessedH3034H559, “OH577, LordH136, the greatH1419 and awesomeH3372 GodH410, who keepsH8104 His covenantH1285 of loving devotionH26174 to those who love HimH157 and keepH8104 His commandmentsH4687, 5we have sinnedH2398 and done wrongH5753. We have acted wickedlyH7561 and rebelledH4775. We have turned awayH5493 from Your commandmentsH4687 and ordinancesH4941. 6We have notH3808 listenedH8085 toH413 Your servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, whoH834 spokeH1696 in Your nameH8034 toH413 our kingsH4428, leadersH8269, fathersH1, andH413 allH3605 the peopleH5971 of the landH776.
To You, O LordH136, belongs righteousnessH6666, but thisH2088 dayH3117 we are coveredH6440 with shameH1322—the menH376 of JudahH3063, the peopleH3427 of JerusalemH3389, and allH3605 IsraelH3478 nearH7138 and farH7350, in allH3605 the countriesH776 to whichH834 You have driven usH5080H8033 because of our unfaithfulnessH4604 to You. 8O LORDH3068, we are coveredH6440 with shameH1322—our kingsH4428, our leadersH8269, and our fathersH1—becauseH834 we have sinnedH2398 against You.
To the LordH136 our GodH430 belong compassionH7356 and forgivenessH5547, even thoughH3588 we have rebelledH4775 against Him 10and have notH3808 obeyedH8085 the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430 to walkH1980 in His lawsH8451, whichH834 He setH5414 before usH6440 throughH3027 His servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030.
AllH3605 IsraelH3478 has transgressedH5674 Your lawH8451 and turned awayH5493, refusingH1115 to obeyH8085 Your voiceH6963; so the oathH423 and the curseH7621 writtenH3789 in the LawH8451 of MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of GodH430 has been poured outH5413 on usH5921, becauseH3588 we have sinnedH2398 against You. 12You have carried outH6965 the wordsH1697 spokenH1696 against usH5921 and againstH5921 our rulersH8199 by bringingH935 upon usH5921 a greatH1419 disasterH7451. For underH8478 allH3605 of heavenH8064, nothingH3808 has ever been doneH6213 like whatH834 has been doneH6213 to JerusalemH3389.
Just asH834 it is writtenH3789 in the LawH8451 of MosesH4872, allH3605 thisH2063 disasterH7451 has comeH935 upon usH5921, yet we have notH3808 sought the favorH2470H854H6440 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430 by turningH7725 from our iniquitiesH5771 and giving attentionH7919 to Your truthH571. 14Therefore the LORDH3068 has kept the calamityH7451 in storeH8245 and brought itH935 upon usH5921. ForH3588 the LORDH3068 our GodH430 is righteousH6662 inH5921 allH3605H4639 He doesH6213; yet we have notH3808 obeyedH8085 His voiceH6963.
NowH6258, O LordH136 our GodH430, whoH834 broughtH3318 Your peopleH5971 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 with a mightyH2389 handH3027, and who madeH6213 for Yourself a nameH8034 renowned to thisH2088 dayH3117, we have sinnedH2398; we have acted wickedlyH7561. 16O LordH136, in keeping with allH3605 Your righteous actsH6666, I prayH4994 that Your angerH639 and wrathH2534 may turn awayH7725 from Your cityH5892 JerusalemH3389, Your holyH6944 mountainH2022; forH3588 because of our sinsH2399 and the iniquitiesH5771 of our fathersH1, JerusalemH3389 and Your peopleH5971 are a reproachH2781 to allH3605 around usH5439.
So nowH6258, our GodH430H413, hearH8085 the prayersH8605 andH413 petitionsH8469 of Your servantH5650. For Your sakeH4616, O LordH136, cause Your faceH6440 to shineH215 uponH5921 Your desolateH8076 sanctuaryH4720. 18InclineH5186 Your earH241, O my GodH430, and hearH8085; openH6491 Your eyesH5869 and seeH7200 the desolationH8074 of the cityH5892 that bearsH7121 Your nameH8034. ForH3588 weH587 are notH3808 presentingH5307 our petitionsH8469 before YouH6440 because ofH5921 our righteous actsH6666, butH3588 because ofH5921 Your greatH7227 compassionH7356.
O LordH136, listenH8085! O LordH136, forgiveH5545! O LordH136, hearH7181 and actH6213! For Your sakeH4616, O my GodH430, do notH408 delayH309, becauseH3588 Your cityH5892H5921 and Your peopleH5971 bearH7121H5921 Your nameH8034.”
Gabriel’s Prophecy of the Seventy Weeks
WhileH5750 IH589 was speakingH1696, prayingH6419, confessingH3034 my sinH2403 andH2403 that of my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and presentingH5307 my petitionH8467 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 my GodH430 concerningH5921 His holyH6944 mountainH2022— 21whileH5750 IH589 was still prayingH1696H8605, GabrielH1403, the manH376 I had seenH7200 in the earlierH8462H3286 visionH2377, cameH5060 to meH413 in swift flightH3288 about the timeH6256 of the eveningH6153 sacrificeH4503. 22He instructedH995 me and spokeH1696 with meH5973, sayingH559: “O DanielH1841, I have comeH3318 nowH6258 to give you insightH7919 and understandingH998. 23At the beginningH8462 of your petitionsH8469, an answerH1697 went outH3318, and IH589 have comeH935 to tellH5046 you, forH3588 youH859 are highly preciousH2530. So considerH995 the messageH1697 and understandH995 the visionH4758:
SeventyH7657 weeksH76205 are decreedH2852 forH5921 your peopleH5971H5921 and your holyH6944 cityH5892 to stopH3615 their transgressionH6588, to put an endH2856 to sinH2403, to make atonementH3722 for iniquityH5771, to bring inH935 everlastingH5769 righteousnessH6664, to seal upH2856 visionH2377 and prophecyH5030, and to anointH4886 the Most HolyH6944 Place.6
KnowH3045 and understand thisH7919: FromH4480 the issuanceH4161 of the decreeH1697 to restoreH7725 and rebuildH1129 JerusalemH3389 untilH5704 the MessiahH4899,7 the PrinceH5057, there will be sevenH7651 weeksH7620 and sixty-twoH8346H8147 weeksH7620. It will be rebuiltH7725H1129 with streetsH7339 and a trenchH2742, but in timesH6256 of distressH6695.
Then afterH310 the sixty-twoH8346H8147 weeksH76208 the MessiahH4899 will be cut offH3772 and will have nothingH369.
Then the peopleH5971 of the princeH5057 who is to comeH935 will destroyH7843 the cityH5892 and the sanctuaryH6944. The endH7093 will come like a floodH7858, and untilH5704 the endH7093 there will be warH4421; desolationsH8074 have been decreedH2782. 27And he will confirmH1396 a covenantH1285 with manyH7227 for oneH259 weekH7620,9 but in the middleH2677 of the weekH7620 he will put an endH7673 to sacrificeH2077 and offeringH4503. And onH5921 the wingH3671 of the temple will come the abominationH8251 that causes desolationH8074,10 untilH5704 the decreedH2782 destructionH3617 is poured outH5413 uponH5921 him.11”
