Judgment on Judah and Israel
ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “For threeH7969 transgressionsH6588 of 1MoabH4124 and for fourH702 I will not 2revokeH7725 its punishment, BecauseH5921 he 3burnedH8313 the bonesH6106 of the kingH4428 of EdomH112 to limeH7875.2So I will sendH7971 fireH784 upon MoabH4124 And it will consumeH398 the citadelsH759 of 4KeriothH7152; And MoabH4124 will dieH4191 amid 5tumultH7588, With 6warH8643 criesH8643 and the soundH6963 of a trumpetH7782.3I will also cutH3772 offH3772 the 78judgeH8199 from her midstH7130 And slayH2026 allH3605 her 9princesH8269 with him,” saysH559 the LordH3068.
ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “For threeH7969 transgressionsH6588 of 10JudahH3063 and for fourH702 I will not revokeH7725 its punishment, BecauseH5921 they 11rejectedH3988 the lawH8451 of the LordH3068 And have not keptH8104 His statutesH2706; Their 1213liesH3577 also have ledH8582 them astrayH8582, Those afterH310 whichH834 their 14fathersH1 walkedH1980.5So I will 15sendH7971 fireH784 upon JudahH3063 And it will consumeH398 the citadelsH759 of JerusalemH3389.”
ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “For threeH7969 transgressionsH6588 of 16IsraelH3478 and for fourH702 I will not revokeH7725 its punishment, BecauseH5921 they 17sellH4376 the righteousH6662 for moneyH3701 And the needyH34 for a pair of sandalsH5275.7These who 18pantH7602 afterH5921 the very dustH6083 of the earthH776 on the headH7218 of the 19helplessH1800 Also 20turnH5186 asideH5186 the wayH1870 of the humbleH6035; And a 21manH376 and his fatherH1 22resortH1980 to the same 23girlH5291 In orderH4616 to profaneH2490 My holyH6944 nameH8034.8On garmentsH899 24takenH2254 as pledgesH2254 they stretchH5186 out besideH681 25everyH3605 altarH4196, And in the houseH1004 of their GodH430 they 26drinkH8354 the wineH3196 of those who have been finedH6064.
“Yet it was I who destroyedH8045 the 27AmoriteH567 beforeH4480H6440 them, 28Though his 29heightH1363 was like the heightH1363 of cedarsH730 And he was strongH2634 as the oaksH437; I even destroyedH8045 his 30fruitH6529 aboveH4480H4605 and his rootH8328 belowH4480H8478.10It was I who 31broughtH5927 you up from the landH776 of EgyptH4714, And I ledH1980 you in the wildernessH4057 32fortyH705 yearsH8141 33That you might takeH3423 possessionH3423 of the landH776 of the 34AmoriteH567.11Then I 35raisedH6965 up someH4480 of your sonsH1121 to be prophetsH5030 And someH4480 of your youngH970 menH970 to be 36NaziritesH5139. Is thisH2088 not soH637, O sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478?” declaresH5002 the LordH3068.12“But you made the NaziritesH5139 drinkH8248 wineH3196, And you commandedH6680 the prophetsH5030 sayingH559, ‘You 37shall not prophesyH5012!’13BeholdH2009, I am 3839weightedH5781 downH5781 beneathH8478 you As a wagonH5699 40is weightedH5781 downH5781 when filledH4392 with sheavesH5995.144142FlightH4498 will perishH6 from the swiftH7031, And the stalwartH2389 will not strengthenH553 his powerH3581, NorH3808 the 43mightyH1368 manH1368 saveH4422 his 44lifeH5315.15He who 45graspsH8610 the bowH7198 will not standH5975 his ground, The swiftH7031 of footH7272 will not escapeH4422, NorH3808 will he who ridesH7392 the 46horseH5483 saveH4422 his 47lifeH5315.16Even the 48bravestH533H3820 among the warriorsH1368 will 49fleeH5127 nakedH6174 in that dayH3117,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068.
