2 Kings 5:1-18

1Now 1NaamanH5283, captainH8269 of the armyH6635 of the kingH4428 of AramH758, was a greatH1419 manH376 2with his masterH113, and highly respectedH5375H6440, becauseH3588 by him the LordH3068 had givenH5414 victoryH8668 to AramH758. The manH376 was also a valiantH2428 warriorH1368, but he was a leperH6879. 2Now the ArameansH758 had goneH3318 out 3in bandsH1416 and had takenH7617 captiveH7628 a littleH6996 girlH5291 from the landH776 of IsraelH3478; and she 4waitedH1961 on Naaman’sH5283 wifeH802. 3She saidH559 to her mistressH1404, “I wishH305 that my masterH113 were 5with the prophetH5030 whoH834 is in SamariaH8111! ThenH227 he would cureH622 him of his leprosyH6883.” 46Naaman wentH935 in and toldH5046 his masterH113, sayingH559, “ThusH2088 and thusH2088 spokeH1696 the girlH5291 whoH834 is from the landH776 of IsraelH3478.” 5Then the kingH4428 of AramH758 saidH559, “GoH1980 7nowH935, and I will sendH7971 a letterH5612 to the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478.” He departedH1980 and 8tookH3947 with him tenH6235 talentsH3603 of silverH3701 and sixH8337 thousandH505 shekels of goldH2091 and tenH6235 9changesH2487 of clothesH899.

6He broughtH935 the letterH5612 to the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, “And nowH6258 as thisH2088 letterH5612 comesH935 to you, beholdH2009, I have sentH7971 NaamanH5283 my servantH5650 to you, that you may cureH622 him of his leprosyH6883.” 7When the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 readH7121 the letterH5612, 10he toreH7167 his clothesH899 and saidH559, “11Am I GodH430, to killH4191 and to makeH2421 aliveH2421, that thisH2088 man is sendingH7971 word to me to cureH622 a manH376 of his leprosyH6883? But 12considerH3045 nowH4994, and seeH7200 howH3588 he is seekingH579 13a quarrelH579 against me.”

8It happenedH1961 when ElishaH477 14the manH376 of GodH430 heardH8085 that the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 had tornH7167 his clothesH899, that he sentH7971 word to the kingH4428, sayingH559, “WhyH4100 have you tornH7167 your clothesH899? NowH4994 let him comeH935 to me, and he shall knowH3045 that thereH3426 is a prophetH5030 in IsraelH3478.” 9So NaamanH5283 cameH935 with his horsesH5483 and his chariotsH7393 and stoodH5975 at the doorwayH6607 of the houseH1004 of ElishaH477. 10ElishaH477 sentH7971 a messengerH4397 to him, sayingH559, “15GoH1980 and washH7364 in the JordanH3383 sevenH7651 timesH6471, and your fleshH1320 will be restoredH7725 to you and you will be cleanH2891.” 11But NaamanH5283 was furiousH7107 and wentH1980 away and saidH559, “BeholdH2009, I 16thoughtH559, ‘He will surelyH3318 comeH3318 out to me and standH5975 and callH7121 on the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 his GodH430, and waveH5130 his handH3027 overH413 the placeH4725 and cureH622 the leperH6879.’ 12Are not 17AbanahH71 and PharparH6554, the riversH5104 of DamascusH1834, betterH2896 thanH4480 allH3605 the watersH4325 of IsraelH3478? Could I not washH7364 in them and be cleanH2891?” So he turnedH6437 and 18wentH1980 away in a rageH2534. 1319Then his servantsH5650 cameH5066 nearH5066 and spokeH1696 to him and saidH559, “20My fatherH1, had the prophetH5030 toldH1696 you to do some greatH1419 thingH1697, would you not have doneH6213 it? HowH637 muchH637H3588 moreH637H3588 then, whenH3588 he saysH559 to you, ‘WashH7364, and be cleanH2891’?” 14So he wentH3381 downH3381 and dippedH2881 himself sevenH7651 timesH6471 in the JordanH3383, according to the wordH1697 of the manH376 of GodH430; and 21his fleshH1320 was restoredH7725 like the fleshH1320 of a littleH6996 childH5288 and 22he was cleanH2891.

15When he returnedH7725 to the manH376 of GodH430 23with allH3605 his companyH4264, and cameH935 and stoodH5975 beforeH6440 him, he saidH559, “BeholdH2009 nowH4994, 24I knowH3045 that thereH369 is noH369 GodH430 in allH3605 the earthH776, but in IsraelH3478; so pleaseH4994 25takeH3947 a 26presentH1293 from your servantH5650 nowH6258.” 16But he saidH559, “27As the LordH3068 livesH2416, beforeH6440 whomH834 I standH5975, 28I will takeH3947 nothingH518.” And he urgedH6484 him to takeH3947 it, but he refusedH3985. 17NaamanH5283 saidH559, “If not, pleaseH4994 let your servantH5650 at least be givenH5414 twoH6776 mules’H6505 loadH4853 of 29earthH127; for your servantH5650 will noH3808 longerH5750 offerH6213 burntH5930 offeringH5930 norH3808 will he sacrificeH2077 to otherH312 godsH430, but to the LordH3068. 18In thisH2088 matterH1697 may the LordH3068 pardonH5545 your servantH5650: when my masterH113 goesH935 into the houseH1004 of RimmonH7417 to worshipH7812 thereH8033, and 30he leansH8172 on my handH3027 and I bowH7812 myself in the houseH1004 of RimmonH7417, when I bowH7812 myself in the houseH1004 of RimmonH7417, the LordH3068 pardonH5545 your servantH5650 in thisH2088 matterH1697.”
