2 Kings 3:11-27

11But JehoshaphatH3092 saidH559, “1Is thereH369 not a prophetH5030 of the LordH3068 hereH6311, that we may inquireH1875 of the LordH3068 by him?” And oneH259 of the kingH4428 of Israel’sH3478 servantsH5650 answeredH6030 and saidH559, “2ElishaH477 the sonH1121 of ShaphatH8202 is hereH6311, 3whoH834 used to pourH3332 waterH4325 on the handsH3027 of ElijahH452.” 12JehoshaphatH3092 saidH559, “The wordH1697 of the LordH3068 is with him.” So the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 and JehoshaphatH3092 and the kingH4428 of EdomH112 wentH3381 downH3381 to him.

13Now ElishaH477 saidH559 to the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, “WhatH4100 do I have to do with you? 4GoH1980 to the prophetsH5030 of your fatherH1 and to the prophetsH5030 of your motherH517.” And the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 saidH559 to him, “NoH408, for the LordH3068 has calledH7121 theseH428 threeH7969 kingsH4428 together to giveH5414 them into the handH3027 of MoabH4124.” 14ElishaH477 saidH559, “5As the LordH3068 of hostsH6635 livesH2416, beforeH6440 whomH834 I standH5975, were it not that I regardH5375 the presenceH6440 of JehoshaphatH3092 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, I would not lookH5027 at you norH518 seeH7200 you. 15But nowH6258 6bringH3947 me a minstrelH5059.” And it cameH1961 about, when the minstrelH5059 playedH5059, that 7the handH3027 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 upon him. 16He saidH559, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, ‘MakeH6213 thisH2088 valleyH5158 fullH1356 of trenchesH1356.’ 17For thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, ‘You shall not seeH7200 windH7307 norH3808 shall you seeH7200 rainH1653; yet that valleyH5158 8shall be filledH4390 with waterH4325, so that you shall drinkH8354, both you and your cattleH4735 and your beastsH929. 18ThisH2088 is but a 9slightH7043 thingH7043 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068; He will also giveH5414 the MoabitesH4124 into your handH3027. 1910Then you shall strikeH5221 everyH3605 fortifiedH4013 cityH5892 and everyH3605 choiceH4004 cityH5892, and fellH5307 everyH3605 goodH2896 treeH6086 and stopH5640 allH3605 springsH4599 of waterH4325, and marH3510 everyH3605 goodH2896 pieceH2513 of landH2513 with stonesH68.’” 20It happenedH1961 in the morningH1242 11about the time of offeringH5927 the sacrificeH4503, that beholdH2009, waterH4325 cameH935 by the wayH1870 of EdomH112, and the countryH776 was filledH4390 with waterH4325.

21Now allH3605 the MoabitesH4124 heardH8085 that the kingsH4428 had comeH5927 up to fightH3898 against them. And allH3605 who were able to 12putH2296 on armorH2290 and olderH4605 were summonedH6817 and stoodH5975 on the borderH1366. 22They roseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and the sunH8121 shoneH2224 on the waterH4325, and the MoabitesH4124 sawH7200 the waterH4325 oppositeH4480H5048 them as redH122 as bloodH1818. 23Then they saidH559, “ThisH2088 is bloodH1818; the kingsH4428 have surelyH2717 foughtH2717 togetherH2717, and they have slainH5221 oneH376 anotherH7453. NowH6258 therefore, MoabH4124, to the spoilH7998!” 24But when they cameH935 to the campH4264 of IsraelH3478, the IsraelitesH3478 aroseH6965 and struckH5221 the MoabitesH4124, so that they fledH5127 beforeH4480H6440 them; and they wentH935 forward 13into the land, 14slaughteringH5221 the MoabitesH4124. 2515Thus they destroyedH2040 the citiesH5892; and eachH376 oneH376 threwH7993 a stoneH68 on everyH3605 pieceH2513 of goodH2896 landH2513 and filledH4390 it. So they stoppedH5640 allH3605 the springsH4599 of waterH4325 and felledH5307 allH3605 the goodH2896 treesH6086, untilH5704 in 16Kir-haresethH7025 only they leftH7604 its stonesH68; however, the slingersH7051 wentH5437 aboutH5437 it and struckH5221 it. 26When the kingH4428 of MoabH4124 sawH7200 that the battleH4421 was tooH4480 fierceH2388 for him, he tookH3947 with him 700H7651H3967 menH376 who drewH8025 swordsH2719, to breakH1234 throughH1234 to the kingH4428 of EdomH112; but they couldH3201 not. 27Then he tookH3947 his oldestH1060 sonH1121 whoH834 was to reignH4427 in his placeH8478, and 17offeredH5927 him as a burntH5930 offeringH5930 on the wallH2346. And there cameH1961 greatH1419 wrathH7110 againstH5921 IsraelH3478, and they departedH5265 from him and returnedH7725 to their own landH776.
