Samuel 13:4-15
AllH3605 IsraelH3478 heardH8085 1the newsH559 that SaulH7586 had smittenH5221 the garrisonH5333 of the PhilistinesH6430, and alsoH1571 that IsraelH3478 2had becomeH887 odiousH887 to the PhilistinesH6430. The peopleH5971 were then summonedH6817 3to SaulH7586 at GilgalH1537.
Now the PhilistinesH6430 assembledH622 to fightH3898 with IsraelH3478, 30,000H7970H505 chariotsH7393 and 6,000H8337H505 horsemenH6571, and 4peopleH5971 like the sandH2344 whichH834 is on the seashoreH3220H8193 in abundanceH7230; and they cameH5927 up and campedH2583 in MichmashH4363, eastH6926 of 5Beth-avenH1007. 6When the menH376 of IsraelH3478 sawH7200 that they were in a straitH6862 (for the peopleH5971 were hard-pressedH5065), then 6the peopleH5971 hidH2244 themselves in cavesH4631, in thicketsH2336, in cliffsH5553, in cellarsH6877, and in pitsH953. 7Also some of the HebrewsH5680 crossedH5674 the JordanH3383 into the landH776 of 7GadH1410 and GileadH1568. But as for SaulH7586, he was stillH5750 in GilgalH1537, and allH3605 the peopleH5971 followedH310 him tremblingH2729.
Now 8he waitedH3176 sevenH7651 daysH3117, according to the appointedH4150 timeH4150 setH834 by SamuelH8050, but SamuelH8050 did not comeH935 to GilgalH1537; and the peopleH5971 were scatteringH6327 from him. 9So SaulH7586 saidH559, “BringH5066 to me the burntH5930 offeringH5930 and the peaceH8002 offeringsH8002.” And 9he offeredH5927 the burntH5930 offeringH5930. 10As soon as he finishedH3615 offeringH5927 the burntH5930 offeringH5930, beholdH2009, SamuelH8050 cameH935; and 10SaulH7586 wentH3318 out to meetH7122 him and to 11greetH1288 him. 11But SamuelH8050 saidH559, “WhatH4100 have you doneH6213?” And SaulH7586 saidH559, “BecauseH3588 I sawH7200 that the peopleH5971 were scatteringH5310 from me, and that you did not comeH935 within the appointedH4150 daysH3117, and that 12the PhilistinesH6430 were assemblingH622 at MichmashH4363, 12therefore I saidH559, ‘NowH6258 the PhilistinesH6430 will comeH3381 downH3381 againstH413 me at GilgalH1537, and I have not askedH2470 the favorH6440 of the LordH3068.’ So I forcedH662 myself and offeredH5927 the burntH5930 offeringH5930.” 13SamuelH8050 saidH559 to SaulH7586, “13You have actedH5528 foolishlyH5528; 14you have not keptH8104 the commandmentH4687 of the LordH3068 your GodH430, whichH834 He commandedH6680 you, for nowH6258 the LordH3068 would have establishedH3559 your kingdomH4467 15overH413 IsraelH3478 16foreverH5704H5769. 14But 17nowH6258 your kingdomH4467 shall not endureH6965. 18The LordH3068 has soughtH1245 out for Himself a manH376 after His own heartH3824, and the LordH3068 has appointedH6680 him as rulerH5057 overH5921 His peopleH5971, becauseH3588 you have not keptH8104 whatH834 the LordH3068 commandedH6680 you.”
Then SamuelH8050 aroseH6965 and wentH5927 up from GilgalH1537 to 19GibeahH1390 of BenjaminH1144. And SaulH7586 20numberedH6485 the peopleH5971 who were presentH4672 with him, 21about sixH8337 hundredH3967 menH376.
