David Fetches the Ark

4AndH559 becauseH3588 this proposalH1697 seemedH5869 rightH3474 to allH3605 the peopleH5971, the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951 agreed to itH6213H3651. 5So DavidH1732 assembledH6950 allH3605 IsraelH3478, fromH4480 the River ShihorH78832 in EgyptH4714 to Lebo-hamathH5704H2574H935, to bringH935 the arkH727 of GodH430 from Kiriath-jearimH7157.

6DavidH1732 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 went upH5927 to BaalahH1173H413 ofH834 JudahH3063 (that is, Kiriath-jearimH7157) to bring upH5927 from thereH8033 the arkH727 of GodH430 the LORDH3068, who is enthronedH3427 between the cherubimH3742—the ark thatH834 is calledH7121 by the NameH8034.3 7So they carriedH7392 the arkH727 of GodH430 from the houseH1004 of AbinadabH41 onH5921 a newH2319 cartH5699, with UzzahH5798 and AhioH283 guidingH5090 the cartH5699.

Uzzah Touches the Ark

(2 Samuel 6:5–11)

9When they cameH935 toH5704 the threshing floorH1637 of ChidonH3592,4 UzzahH5798 reached outH7971 and took holdH270 ofH853 the arkH727, becauseH3588 the oxenH1241 had stumbledH8058. 10And the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 burnedH2734 against UzzahH5798, and He struck himH5221 downH5921 becauseH834 he had putH7971 his handH3027 onH5921 the arkH727. So he diedH4191 thereH8033 beforeH6440 GodH430.

11Then DavidH1732 became angryH2734 becauseH3588 the LORDH3068 had burst forthH6555H6556 against UzzahH5798. So he namedH7121 thatH1931 placeH4725 Perez-uzzahH6560,5 as it is called toH5704 thisH2088 dayH3117.

12ThatH1931 dayH3117 DavidH1732 fearedH3372 GodH430 and askedH559, “HowH1963 can I ever bringH935 the arkH727 of GodH430 to meH413?” 13SoH1732 he did notH3808 moveH5493 the arkH727 with himH413 to the CityH5892 of DavidH1732; instead, he tookH5186 it asideH413 toH413 the houseH1004 of Obed-edomH5654 the GittiteH1663. 14Thus the arkH727 of GodH430 remainedH3427 withH5973 the familyH1004 of Obed-edomH5654 in his houseH1004 for threeH7969 monthsH2320, and the LORDH3068 blessedH1288 his householdH1004 and everythingH3605 he owned.
