2And a centurion’sἑκατοντάρχουhekatontarchouG1543slaveδοῦλοςdoulosG1401,whoὃςhosG3739was highlyG1784regardedG1784by him, was sickκακῶςkakōsG2560and aboutἤμελλενēmellenG3195to dieτελευτᾶνteleutanG5053.

3When he heardἀκούσαςakousasG191aboutπερὶperiG4012JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424,he sentἀπέστειλενapesteilenG649someJewishἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnG2453eldersπρεσβυτέρουςpresbuterousG4245askingἐρωτῶνerōtōnG2065Him to comeἐλθὼνelthōnG2064andsaveδιασώσῃdiasōsēG1295the lifeG1295of his slaveδοῦλονdoulonG1401.

4When they cameπαραγενόμενοιparagenomenoiG3854to JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424,they earnestlyσπουδαίωςspoudaiōsG4709imploredπαρεκάλουνparekalounG3870Him, sayingλέγοντεςlegontesG3004, “He is worthyἄξιόςaxiosG514for You to grantπαρέξῃparexēG3930thisτοῦτο·toutoG3778to him;

5for he lovesἀγαπᾷagapaG25our nationἔθνοςethnosG1484and it was he who builtᾠκοδόμησενōkodomēsenG3618us our synagogueσυναγωγὴνsunagōgēnG4864.”

6NowG1161JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424startedon His wayἐπορεύετοeporeuetoG4198with them; and when He was not farμακρὰνmakranG3112from the houseοἰκίαςoikiasG3614,the centurionἑκατοντάρχηςhekatontarchēsG1543sentἔπεμψενepempsenG3992friendsφίλουςphilousG5384,sayingλέγωνlegōnG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,do not troubleσκύλλου·skullouG4660Yourself further, for I amεἰμιeimiG1510not worthyἱκανόςhikanosG2425for You to comeεἰσέλθῃς,eiselthēsG1525underὑπὸhupoG5259my roofστέγηνstegēnG4721;

7for thisG1352reasonG1352I did not evenοὐδὲoudeG3761considerG515myselfG1683worthyἠξίωσαēxiōsaG515to comeἐλθεῖν.eltheinG2064to You, but justsayG3004the wordλόγῳ,logōG3056, and myservantπαῖςpaisG3816will be healedἰαθήτωiathētōG2390.

8For I alsoG2532amεἰμιeimiG1510a manἄνθρωπόςanthrōposG444placed underὑπὸhupoG5259authorityἐξουσίανexousianG1849,with soldiersστρατιώτας.stratiōtasG4757underὑπ᾽hup᾽G5259me; and I sayλέγωlegōG3004to thisG3778oneG3778, ‘Goπορεύθητι,poreuthētiG4198!’and he goesπορεύεται,poreuetaiG4198,and to anotherἄλλῳ·allōG243, ‘Comeἔρχου,erchouG2064!’and he comesἔρχεται,erchetaiG2064,and to my slaveδούλῳdoulōG1401, ‘DoποίησονpoiēsonG4160thisG3778!’and he doesποιεῖ.poieiG4160it.”

9NowδὲdeG1161when JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424heardἀκούσαςakousasG191thisταῦταtautaG3778,He marveledἐθαύμασενethaumasenG2296at him, and turnedστραφεὶςstrapheisG4762and saidλέγωlegōG3004to the crowdὄχλῳochlōG3793that was followingἀκολουθοῦντιakolouthountiG190Him,“I sayG3004to you,not evenοὐδὲoudeG3761in IsraelἸσραὴλIsraēlG2474have I foundεὗρον.heuronG2147suchτοσαύτηνtosautēnG5118greatG5118faithπίστινpistinG4102.”
