18But they criedἀνέκραγονanekragonG349out allG3826togetherG3826,sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “AwayαἶρεaireG142with thisG3778manτοῦτον,toutonG3778,and releaseἀπόλυσονapolusonG630for us BarabbasΒαραββᾶν·BarabbanG912!”

19(He was oneG3748whoG3748had been thrownβληθεὶςblētheisG906into prisonφυλακῇ.¶phulakēaG5438for an insurrectionστάσινstasinG4714madeγενομένηνgenomenēnG1096in the cityπόλειpoleiG4172,and for murderφόνονphononG5408.)

20PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091,wantingθέλωνthelōnG2309to releaseἀπολῦσαιapolusaiG630JesusἸησοῦν.IēsounG2424,addressedπροσεφώνησενprosephōnēsenG4377them againΠάλινPalinG3825,

21but they kept on callingἐπεφώνουνepephōnounG2019out, sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “CrucifyσταύρουstaurouG4717,crucifyσταύρουstaurouG4717Him!”

22And he saidG3004to them the thirdτρίτονtritonG5154timeG5154, “WhyγὰρgarG1063,whatτίtiG5101evilκακὸνkakonG2556has thisG3778manοὗτος;houtosG3778doneἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160?I have foundεὗρονheuronG2147in Him noοὐδὲνoudenG3762guiltαἴτιονaitionG159demandingdeathθανάτουthanatouG2288;thereforeοὖνounG3767I willpunishπαιδεύσαςpaideusasG3811Him and releaseἀπολύσω.apolusōG630Him.”

23But they were insistentἐπέκειντοepekeintoG1945,with loudμεγάλαιςmegalaisG3173voicesφωναῖςphōnaisG5456askingαἰτούμενοιaitoumenoiG154that He be crucifiedσταυρωθῆναι,staurōthēnaiG4717.And their voicesφωναὶphōnaiG5456beganto prevailκατίσχυονkatischuonG2729.

24And PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091pronouncedG1948sentenceG1948that their demandαἴτημαaitēmaG155be grantedγενέσθαιgenesthaiG1096.

25And he releasedἀπέλυσενapelusenG630the man they were askingᾐτοῦντο·ētountoG154for who had been thrownβεβλημένονbeblēmenonG906into prisonφυλακὴνphulakēnG5438for insurrectionστάσινstasinG4714and murderφόνονphononG5408,but he deliveredπαρέδωκενparedōkenG3860JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424to their willθελήματιthelēmatiG2307.
