2 Kings 9:16-29
16Then JehuH3058 got into his chariotH7392 and wentH1980 to JezreelH3157, becauseH3588 JoramH3141 was laid upH7901 thereH8033. And AhaziahH274 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 had gone downH3381 to seeH7200 him.
17Now the watchmanH6822 standingH5975 onH5921 the towerH4026 in JezreelH3157 sawH7200 Jehu’sH3058 troopsH8229 approachingH935, and he called outH559, “IH589 seeH7200 a company ofH8229 troops!”
“ChooseH3947 a riderH7395,” JoramH3088 commandedH559. “Send him outH7971 to meet themH7122 and askH559, ‘Have you come in peaceH7965?’”
18So a horsemanH7392H5483 rode offH1980 to meet JehuH7122 and saidH559, “This is whatH3541 the kingH4428 asksH559: ‘Have you come in peaceH7965?’”
“WhatH4100 do you know about peaceH7965?” JehuH3058 repliedH559. “Fall inH5437H413 behind meH310.”
And the watchmanH6822H559 reportedH5046, “The messengerH4397 reachedH935H5704 themH1992, but he is notH3808 coming backH7725.”
19So the king sent outH7971 a secondH8145 horsemanH7392H5483, who wentH935 to themH413 and saidH559, “This is whatH3541 the kingH4428 asksH559: ‘Have you come in peaceH7965?’”
“WhatH4100 do you know about peaceH7965?” JehuH3058 repliedH559. “Fall inH5437H413 behind meH310.”
20Again the watchmanH6822H559 reportedH5046, “He reachedH935H5704 themH413, but he is notH3808 coming backH7725. And the charioteerH4491 is driving likeH4491 JehuH3058 sonH1121 of NimshiH5250H35881—he is drivingH5090 like a madmanH7697!”
21“HarnessH631!” JoramH3088 shoutedH559, and they harnessedH631 his chariotH7393.
Then JoramH3088 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 and AhaziahH274 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 set outH3318, eachH376 in his own chariotH7393, and metH3318H7122 JehuH3058H4672 on the propertyH2513 of NabothH5022 the JezreeliteH3158.
When JoramH3088 sawH7200 JehuH3058, he askedH559, “Have you come in peaceH7965, JehuH3058?”
“HowH4100 can there beH5704 peaceH7965,” he repliedH559, “as long asH7227 the idolatryH21832 and witchcraftH3785 of your motherH517 Jezebel aboundH348?”
23JoramH3088H3027 turned aroundH20153 and fledH5127, calling outH559 toH413 AhaziahH274, “TreacheryH4820, AhaziahH274!”
24Then JehuH3058 drewH4390H3027 his bowH7198 and shotH5221 JoramH3088 betweenH996 the shouldersH2220. The arrowH2678 piercedH3318 his heartH3820, and he slumped downH3766 in his chariotH7393.
25And Jehu saidH559 toH413 BidkarH920 his officerH7969, “Pick him upH5375 and throw himH7993 into the fieldH2513H7704 of NabothH5022 the JezreeliteH3158. ForH3588 remember thatH2142 when youH859 and IH589 were ridingH7392 togetherH6776 behindH310 his fatherH1 AhabH256, the LORDH3068 lifted upH5375 thisH2088 burdenH4853 against himH5921: 26‘As surelyH518H3808 as I sawH7200 the bloodH1818 of NabothH5022 and the bloodH1818 of his sonsH1121 yesterdayH570, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068, so will I repayH7999 you on thisH2063 plot of groundH2513, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068.’ Now thenH6258, according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, pick him upH5375 and throw himH7993 on the plotH2513 of ground.”
27When KingH4428 AhaziahH274 of JudahH3063 sawH7200 this, he fledH5127 up the roadH1870 toward Beth-hagganH1004H1588.
And JehuH3058 pursued himH7291H310, shoutingH559, “ShootH5221 himH853 tooH1571!”
So they shot Ahaziah inH413 his chariotH4818 on the AscentH4608 of GurH1483,4 near IbleamH2991, and he fledH5127 to MegiddoH4023 and diedH4191 thereH8033. 28Then his servantsH5650 carried him by chariotH7392 to JerusalemH3389 and buriedH6912 himH853 with his fathersH1 in his tombH6900H5973 in the CityH5892 of DavidH1732.
29(In the eleventhH259H6240H8141 yearH8141 of JoramH3141 sonH1121 of AhabH256, AhaziahH274 had become kingH4427 overH5921 JudahH3063.)
