2 Kings 1:9-18
9Then King Ahaziah sentH7971 to ElijahH413 a captainH8269 with his company of fifty menH2572. So the captain went upH5927 toH413H2009 Elijah, who was sittingH3427 onH5921 topH7218 of a hillH2022, and saidH1696 to himH413, “ManH376 of GodH430, the kingH4428 declaresH1696, ‘Come downH3381!’”
10ElijahH452H1696 answeredH6030H413 the captainH8269H2572, “IfH518 IH589 am a manH376 of GodH430, may fireH784 come downH3381 fromH4480 heavenH8064 and consumeH398 youH853 andH853 your fiftyH2572 men.”
And fireH784 came downH3381 fromH4480 heavenH8064 and consumedH398 the captain andH853 his fifty menH2572.
So the king sentH7971 to ElijahH413 anotherH312 captainH8269H2572 with his fiftyH2572 men. AndH6030 the captain saidH1696 toH413 Elijah, “ManH376 of GodH430, the kingH4428 declaresH559, ‘Come downH3381 at onceH4120!’”
12Again ElijahH452H1696H413 repliedH6030, “IfH518 IH589 am a manH376 of GodH430, may fireH784 come downH3381 fromH4480 heavenH8064 and consumeH398 youH853 andH853 your fiftyH2572 men.”
And the fireH784 of GodH430 came downH3381 fromH4480 heavenH8064 and consumedH398 the captain andH853 his fifty menH2572.
13SoH7725 the king sentH7971 a thirdH7992 captainH8269 with his fifty menH2572. And the thirdH7992 captainH8269 went upH5927H935, fellH3766 onH5921 his kneesH1290 beforeH5048 ElijahH452, and begged himH2603H413H1696, “ManH376 of GodH430, may my lifeH5315 and the livesH5315 of theseH428 fiftyH2572 servants of yoursH5650 pleaseH4994 be preciousH3365 in your sightH5869. 14BeholdH2009, fireH784 has come downH3381 fromH4480 heavenH8064 and consumedH398 the firstH7223 twoH8147 captainsH8269 of fiftyH2572, with all their menH2572. But nowH6258 may my lifeH5315 be preciousH3365 in your sightH5869.”
15Then the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 saidH1696 toH413 ElijahH452, “Go downH3381 with himH854. Do notH408 be afraidH3372 of himH6440.”
So Elijah got upH6965 and went downH3381 with himH854 toH413 the kingH4428.
16And Elijah saidH1696 to King AhaziahH413, “This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: Is there really noH1097H369 GodH430 in IsraelH3478 for you to inquireH1875 of His wordH1697? Is that whyH3282 you have sentH7971 messengersH4397 to inquireH1875 of Baal-zebubH1176, the godH430 of EkronH6138? ThereforeH3651 you will notH3808 get up fromH3381 the bedH4296 on whichH834 you are lyingH5927H8033. You will surely dieH4191.”
17So Ahaziah diedH4191 according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 thatH834 ElijahH452 had spokenH1696. And sinceH3588 he hadH1961 noH3808 sonH1121, JehoramH30881 succeeded himH4427 in the secondH8147 yearH8141 of the reignH4428 of JehoramH3088 sonH1121 of JehoshaphatH3092 over JudahH3063.
18As for the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of AhaziahH274, along with his accomplishmentsH834H6213, are theyH1992 notH3808 writtenH3789 inH5921 the BookH5612 of the ChroniclesH1697H3117 of the KingsH4428 of IsraelH3478?
