The Descendants of Reuben

1These were the sonsH1121 of ReubenH7205 the firstbornH1060 of IsraelH3478H3588. Though heH1931 was the firstbornH1060, his birthrightH1062 was givenH5414 to the sonsH1121 of JosephH3130 sonH1121 of IsraelH3478, because Reuben defiledH2490 his father’sH1 bedH3326. So he is notH3808 reckonedH3187 according to birthrightH1062. 2And thoughH3588 JudahH3063 prevailedH1396 over his brothersH251 and a rulerH5057 came from himH4480, the birthrightH1062 belonged to JosephH3130. 3The sonsH1121 of ReubenH7205, the firstbornH1060 of IsraelH3478:

HanochH2585, PalluH6396, HezronH2696, and CarmiH3756.

4The descendantsH1121 of JoelH3100: 5ShemaiahH8098 his sonH1121, GogH1463 his sonH1121, ShimeiH8096 his sonH1121, MicahH4318 his sonH1121, ReaiahH7211 his sonH1121, BaalH1168 his sonH1121, 6and BeerahH880 his sonH1121, whomH834 Tiglath-pileserH84071 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 carried into exileH1540. 7BeerahH1931 was a leaderH5387 of the ReubenitesH7206. His relativesH251 by their clansH4940 are recordedH3187 in their genealogyH8435: 8JeielH3273 the chiefH7218, ZechariahH2148, and BelaH1106 sonH1121 of AzazH5811, the sonH1121 of ShemaH8087, the sonH1121 of JoelH3100. TheyH1931 settledH3427 in AroerH6177 and as far asH5704 NeboH5015 and Baal-meonH1186. 9They also settledH3427 in the eastH4217 as far asH5704H935 the edge of the desertH4057 that extendsH4480 to the EuphratesH6578 RiverH5104, becauseH3588 their livestockH4735 had increasedH7235 in the landH776 of GileadH1568. 10During the daysH3117 of SaulH7586 they wagedH6213 warH4421 againstH5973 the HagritesH1905, who were defeatedH5307 at their handsH3027, and they occupiedH3427 the dwellingsH168 of the Hagrites throughoutH5921H3605 the regionH6440 eastH4217 of GileadH1568.

The Descendants of Gad

11The descendantsH1121 of GadH1410 livedH3427 next toH5048 the Reubenites in the landH776 of BashanH1316, asH5704 far as SalecahH5548:

12JoelH3100 was the chiefH7218, ShaphamH8223 the secondH4932, then JaanaiH3285 and ShaphatH8202, who lived in BashanH1316. 13Their kinsmenH251 by families wereH1H1004 MichaelH4317, MeshullamH4918, ShebaH7652, JoraiH3140, JacanH3275, ZiaH2127, and EberH5677—sevenH7651 in all. 14TheseH428 were the sonsH1121 of AbihailH32 sonH1121 of HuriH2359, the sonH1121 of JaroahH3386, the sonH1121 of GileadH1568, the sonH1121 of MichaelH4317, the sonH1121 of JeshishaiH3454, the sonH1121 of JahdoH3163, the sonH1121 of BuzH938. 15AhiH277 sonH1121 of AbdielH5661, the sonH1121 of GuniH1476, was headH7218 of their familyH1H1004. 16They livedH3427 in GileadH1568, in BashanH1316 and its townsH1323, and throughoutH3605 the pasturelandsH4054 of SharonH8289H5921H8444. 17All of themH3605 were recorded in the genealogiesH3187 during the reignsH3117 of JothamH3147 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and JeroboamH3379 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478. 18The ReubenitesH1121H7205, the GaditesH1425, and the half-tribeH2677H7626 of ManassehH4519H4480 had 44,760H705H702H505H7651H3967H8346 warriorsH3318H6635—valiantH1121H2428 menH582 who carriedH5375 the shieldH4043 and swordH2719, drewH1869 the bowH7198, and were trainedH3925 for battleH4421. 19They wagedH6213 warH4421 againstH5973 the HagritesH1905, as well as JeturH3195, NaphishH5305, and NodabH5114. 20And becauseH3588 they cried outH2199 to GodH430 in battleH4421, they were helpedH5826 againstH5921 their enemies, and the HagritesH1905 and allH3605 their alliesH5973 were deliveredH5414 into their handsH3027. BecauseH3588 they put their trustH982 in God, He answered their prayersH6279. 21They seizedH7617 the livestockH4735 of the Hagrites—50,000H2572H505 camelsH1581, 250,000H3967H2572H505 sheepH6629, and 2,000H505H5315 donkeysH2543. They also took 100,000H3967H505 captivesH120, 22andH3588 many othersH7227 fellH5307 slainH2491, becauseH3588 the battleH4421 belonged to GodH430. And they occupiedH3427 the landH8478 untilH5704 the exileH1473.

The Half-Tribe of Manasseh

23Now the peopleH1121 of the half-tribeH2677H7626 of ManassehH4519 were numerousH1992H7235. They settledH3427 in the landH776 from BashanH1316 toH5704 Baal-hermon (that isH1179, SenirH8149, also known as MountH2022 HermonH2768).2 24TheseH428 were the headsH7218 of their familiesH1H1004:

EpherH6081, IshiH3469, ElielH447, AzrielH5837, JeremiahH3414, HodaviahH1938, and JahdielH3164. 25They were mightyH1368 menH582 of valorH2428, famousH8034 menH582, and headsH7218 of their familiesH1H1004. But they were unfaithfulH4603 to the GodH430 of their fathersH1, and they prostitutedH2181 themselves withH310 the godsH430 of the peoplesH5971 of the landH776, whomH834 GodH430 had destroyedH8045 before themH6440. 26So the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 stirred upH5782 the spiritH7307 of PulH6322 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 (that isH853H7307, Tiglath-pileserH8407 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804) to take the ReubenitesH7206, the GaditesH1425, and the half-tribeH2677H7626 of ManassehH4519 into exileH1540. And he brought themH935 to HalahH2477, HaborH2249, HaraH2024, and the riverH5104 of GozanH1470, where they remain toH5704 thisH2088 dayH3117.
