31The Benjamitesבְנֵֽי־ בִנְיָמִן֙ve.nei- vin.ya.MinH1121H1144came outוַיֵּצְא֤וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318againstלִקְרַ֣אתlik.RatH7122themהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971and were drawn awayהָנְתְּק֖וּha.ne.te.KuH5423fromמִן־min-H4480the cityהָעִ֑ירha.'IrH5892.They beganוַיָּחֵ֡לּוּvai.ya.Che.luH2490to attackלְהַכּוֹת֩le.ha.kOtH5221the peopleמֵהָעָ֨םme.ha.'AmH5971as beforeH6471,killingחֲלָלִ֜יםcha.la.LimH2491about thirtyכִּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥יםkish.lo.ShimH7970menאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376of Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Yis.ra.'ElH3478in the fieldsבַּשָּׂדֶ֔הba.sa.DehH7704and on the roadsבַּֽמְסִלּוֹת֙bam.si.lOtH4546,oneאַחַ֜ת'a.ChatH259of whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834led upעֹלָ֣ה'o.LahH5927toבֵֽית־veit-H1008Bethelאֵ֗ל'ElH1008and the otherוְאַחַ֤תve.'a.ChatH259to Gibeahגִּבְעָ֙תָה֙giv.'A.tahH1390.
32“We are defeating themנִגָּפִ֥יםni.ga.FimH5062as beforeהֵ֛ם לְפָנֵ֖ינוּ כְּבָרִאשֹׁנָ֑הhem le.fa.Nei.nu ke.va.ri.sho.NahH1992H6440H7223,”saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559the Benjamitesבְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֔ןbe.Nei vin.ya.MinH1121H1144.But the Israelitesוּבְנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֣לu.ve.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478saidאָמְר֗וּ'a.me.RuH559, “Let us retreatנָנ֙וּסָה֙na.Nu.sahH5127and draw them awayוּֽנְתַקְּנֻ֔הוּu.ne.ta.ke.Nu.huH5423fromמִן־min-H4480the cityהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892ontoאֶל־'el-H413the roadsהַֽמְסִלּֽוֹת׃Ham.si.LotH4546.”
33So allוְכֹ֣ל׀ve.KholH3605the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478got upקָ֚מוּKa.muH6965from their placesמִמְּקוֹמ֔וֹmi.me.ko.MoH4725and arrayed themselvesוַיַּעַרְכ֖וּvai.ya.'ar.KhuH6186at Baal-tamarH1193,and the Israelitesיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478in ambushוְאֹרֵ֧בve.'o.RevH693chargedמֵגִ֥יחַme.Gi.achH1518from their positionsמִמְּקֹמ֖וֹmi.me.ko.MoH4725westמִמַּֽעֲרֵה־mi.ma.'a.reh-H4629of Gibeahגָֽבַע׃Ga.va'H1387.
34Then 10,000עֲשֶׂרֶת֩ אֲלָפִ֨ים'a.se.Ret 'a.la.FimH6235H505selectבָּחוּר֙ba.ChurH977menאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376from allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478made a frontalמִנֶּ֨גֶדmi.Ne.gedH5048assaultוַיָּבֹאוּ֩vai.ya.vo.'UH935against Gibeahלַגִּבְעָ֜הla.giv.'AhH1390,and the battleוְהַמִּלְחָמָ֖הve.ha.mil.cha.MahH4421was fierceכָּבֵ֑דָהka.Ve.dahH3513.But the Benjamitesוְהֵם֙ve.HemH1992did notלֹ֣אlo'H3808realizeיָדְע֔וּya.de.'UH3045thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588disasterהָרָעָֽה׃ פha.ra.'AhH7451wasuponנֹגַ֥עַתno.Ga.'atH5060themעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם'a.lei.HemH5921.
35The LORDיְהוָ֥ה׀Yah.wehH3068אֶֽת־'et-H853defeatedוַיִּגֹּ֨ףvai.yi.GofH5062Benjaminבִּנְיָמִן֮bin.ya.MinH1144in the presenceלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and on thatהַה֔וּאha.Hu'H1931dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117the Israelitesבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֤לve.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478slaughteredוַיַּשְׁחִיתוּ֩vai.yash.chi.TuH784325,100עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וַחֲמִשָּׁ֥ה אֶ֛לֶף וּמֵאָ֖ה'es.Rim va.cha.mi.Shah 'E.lef u.me.'AhH6242H2568H505H3967Benjamitesבְּבִנְיָמִן֙ אִ֑ישׁbe.vin.ya.Min 'IshH376H1144,allכָּל־ אֵ֖לֶּהkol- 'E.lehH3605H428armedשֹׁ֥לֵףSho.lefH8025with swordsחָֽרֶב׃Cha.revH2719.
36Then the Benjamitesבְנֵֽי־ בִנְיָמִ֖ןve.nei- vin.ya.MinH1121H1144realizedוַיִּרְא֥וּvai.yir.'UH7200כִּ֣יkiH3588they had been defeatedנִגָּ֑פוּni.Ga.fuH5062.Now the menאִֽישׁ־'ish-H376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לYis.ra.'ElH3478had retreatedוַיִּתְּנ֨וּ מָקוֹם֙vai.yi.te.Nu ma.kOmH5414H4725before Benjaminלְבִנְיָמִ֔ןle.vin.ya.MinH1144becauseכִּ֤יkiH3588they were relyingבָֽטְחוּ֙va.te.ChuH982onאֶל־'el-H413the ambushהָ֣אֹרֵ֔בha.'o.RevH693אֲשֶׁר'a.SherH834they had setשָׂ֖מוּSa.muH7760againstאֶל־'el-H413Gibeahהַגִּבְעָֽה׃ha.giv.'AhH1390.
37The men in ambushוְהָאֹרֵ֣בve.ha.'o.RevH693rushedוַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּvai.yif.she.TuH6584suddenlyהֵחִ֔ישׁוּhe.Chi.shuH2363againstאֶל־'el-H413Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֑הha.giv.'AhH1390;theyהָאֹרֵ֔בha.'o.RevH693advancedוַיִּמְשֹׁךְ֙vai.yim.shoKhH4900and putוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221אֶת־'et-H853the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605cityהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892to the swordלְפִי־ חָֽרֶב׃le.fi- Cha.revH6310H2719.
38The menלְאִ֥ישׁle.'IshH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478had arrangedהָיָ֛הha.YahH1961a signalוְהַמּוֹעֵ֗דve.ha.mo.'EdH4150withעִם־'im-H5973the men in ambushהָאֹרֵ֑בha.'o.RevH693:When they sent upלְהַעֲלוֹתָ֛םle.ha.'a.lo.TamH5927a greatהֶ֕רֶבHe.revH7235cloudמַשְׂאַ֥תmas.'AtH4864of smokeהֶעָשָׁ֖ןhe.'a.ShanH6227fromמִן־min-H4480the cityהָעִֽיר׃ha.'IrH5892,
39the menאִֽישׁ־'ish-H376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478would turnוַיַּהֲפֹ֥ךְvai.ya.ha.FokhH2015in the battleבַּמִּלְחָמָ֑הba.mil.cha.MahH4421.When the Benjamitesוּבִנְיָמִ֡ןu.vin.ya.MinH1144had begunהֵחֵל֩he.ChelH2490to strike them downלְהַכּ֨וֹתle.ha.KotH5221,killingחֲלָלִ֤יםcha.la.LimH2491about thirtyבְּאִֽישׁ־ כִּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים כִּ֣יbe.'ish- kish.lo.Shim kiH7970H376H3588menאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478,they saidאָמְר֔וּ אַךְ֩'a.me.Ru 'aKhH559H389, “They areהוּא֙hu'H1931defeatedH5062before usלְפָנֵ֔ינוּle.fa.Nei.nuH6440as in the firstהָרִאשֹׁנָֽה׃ha.ri.sho.NahH7223battleכַּמִּלְחָמָ֖הka.mil.cha.MahH4421.”
40וְהַמַּשְׂאֵ֗תve.ha.mas.'EtH4864But when the columnעַמּ֣וּד'a.MudH5982of smokeעָשָׁ֑ן'a.ShanH6227beganהֵחֵ֛לָּהhe.Che.lahH2490to go upלַעֲל֥וֹתla.'a.LotH5927fromמִן־min-H4480the cityהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892,the Benjamitesבִּנְיָמִן֙bin.ya.MinH1144lookedוַיִּ֤פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437behind themאַחֲרָ֔יו'a.cha.RavH310and sawוְהִנֵּ֛הve.hi.NehH2009the wholeכְלִיל־khe.lil-H3632cityהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892going upעָלָ֥ה'a.LahH5927in smokeהַשָּׁמָֽיְמָה׃ha.sha.Ma.ye.mahH8064.
41Then the menוְאִ֤ישׁve.'IshH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478turned back on themהָפַ֔ךְha.FakhH2015,and the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Benjaminבִּנְיָמִ֑ןbin.ya.MinH1144were terrifiedוַיִּבָּהֵ֖לvai.yi.ba.HelH926whenכִּ֣יkiH3588they realizedרָאָ֔הra.'AhH7200thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588disasterהָרָעָֽה׃ha.ra.'AhH7451had comeנָגְעָ֥הna.ge.'AhH5060upon themעָלָ֖יו'a.LavH5921.
42So they fledוַיִּפְנ֞וּvai.yif.NuH6437beforeלִפְנֵ֨יlif.NeiH6440the menאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478towardאֶל־ דֶּ֣רֶךְ'el- De.rekhH413H1870the wildernessהַמִּדְבָּ֔רha.mid.BarH4057,but the battleוְהַמִּלְחָמָ֖הve.ha.mil.cha.MahH4421overtook themהִדְבִּיקָ֑תְהוּhid.bi.Ka.te.huH1692,and the menוַאֲשֶׁר֙va.'a.SherH834coming out of the citiesמֵהֶ֣עָרִ֔יםme.He.'a.RimH5892struck them downמַשְׁחִיתִ֥יםmash.chi.TimH7843אוֹת֖וֹ'o.ToH853thereבְּתוֹכֽוֹ׃be.to.KhoH8432.
43They surroundedכִּתְּר֤וּki.te.RuH3803אֶת־'et-H853the Benjamitesבִּנְיָמִן֙bin.ya.MinH1144,pursued themהִרְדִיפֻ֔הוּhir.di.Fu.huH7291,and easilyמְנוּחָ֖הme.nu.ChahH4496overtook themהִדְרִיכֻ֑הוּhid.ri.Khu.huH1869in the vicinityעַ֛ד נֹ֥כַח'ad No.khachH5704H5227of Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֖הha.giv.'AhH1390on the eastמִמִּזְרַח־ שָֽׁמֶשׁ׃mi.miz.rach- Sha.meshH4217H8121.
45Then the Benjamites turnedוַיִּפְנ֞וּvai.yif.NuH6437and fledוַיָּנֻ֤סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127toward the wildernessהַמִּדְבָּ֙רָה֙ha.mid.Ba.rahH4057toאֶל־'el-H413the rockסֶ֣לַעSe.la'H5553of Rimmonהָֽרִמּ֔וֹןha.ri.MonH7417,and Israel cut downוַיְעֹֽלְלֻ֙הוּ֙vay.'o.le.Lu.huH59535,000חֲמֵ֥שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֖יםcha.Me.shet 'a.la.FimH2568H505menאִ֑ישׁ'IshH376on the roadsבַּֽמְסִלּ֔וֹתbam.si.LotH4546.And they overtook themוַיַּדְבִּ֤יקוּ אַחֲרָיו֙vai.yad.Bi.ku 'a.cha.RavH1692H310atעַד־'ad-H5704Gidomגִּדְעֹ֔םgid.'OmH1440and struck downוַיַּכּ֥וּ מִמֶּ֖נּוּvai.ya.Ku mi.Me.nuH5221H44802,000 moreאַלְפַּ֥יִם אִֽישׁ׃'al.Pa.yim 'IshH505H376.
