2The leadersפִּנּ֣וֹתpi.NotH6438of allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971and allכֹּ֚לkolH3605the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֣יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478presented themselvesוַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֞וּvai.yit.ya.tze.VuH3320in the assemblyבִּקְהַ֖לbik.HalH6951of God’sהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430peopleעַ֣ם'amH5971:400,000אַרְבַּ֨ע מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֛לֶף'ar.Ba' me.'ot 'E.lefH702 H3967 H505menאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376on footרַגְלִ֖יrag.LiH7273,armedשֹׁ֥לֵֽףSho.lefH8025with swordsחָֽרֶב׃ פCha.revH2719.

3(Meanwhile the Benjamitesבְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֔ןbe.Nei vin.ya.MinH1121 H1144heardוַֽיִּשְׁמְעוּ֙vai.yish.me.'UH8085thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Israelitesבְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖לve.nei- Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478had gone upעָל֥וּ'a.LuH5927to Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֑הha.mitz.PahH4709.)And the Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478askedוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559, “Tellדַּבְּר֕וּda.be.RuH1696us, howאֵיכָ֥ה'ei.KhahH349did thisהַזֹּֽאת׃ha.ZotH2063wicked thingהָרָעָ֥הha.ra.'AhH7451happenנִהְיְתָ֖הnih.ye.TahH1961?”

4So the Leviteהָאִ֣ישׁ הַלֵּוִ֗יha.'Ish ha.le.ViH3881 H376,the husbandאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376of the murderedהַנִּרְצָחָ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑רha.nir.tza.Chah vai.yo.MarH7523 H559womanהָאִשָּׁ֥הha.'i.ShahH802,answeredוַיַּ֜עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030: “Iאֲנִ֥י'a.NiH589and my concubineוּפִֽילַגְשִׁ֖יu.fi.lag.ShiH6370cameבָּ֛אתִיBa.tiH935to Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֙תָה֙ha.giv.'A.tahH1390אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834in Benjaminלְבִנְיָמִ֔ןle.vin.ya.MinH1144to spend the nightלָלֽוּן׃la.LunH3885.

5And during the nightלָ֑יְלָהLa.ye.lahH3915,the menבַּעֲלֵ֣יba.'a.LeiH1167of Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֔הha.giv.'AhH1390rose upוַיָּקֻ֤מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965against meעָלַי֙'a.LaiH5921and surroundedוַיָּסֹ֧בּוּ עָלַ֛יvai.ya.So.bu 'a.LaiH5437 H5921אֶת־'et-H853the houseהַבַּ֖יִתha.Ba.yitH1004אוֹתִי֙'o.TiH853.They intendedדִּמּ֣וּdi.MuH1819to kill meלַהֲרֹ֔גla.ha.RogH2026וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,but they abusedעִנּ֖וּ'i.NuH6031my concubineפִּילַגְשִׁ֥יpi.lag.ShiH6370,and she diedוַתָּמֹֽת׃va.ta.MotH4191.

6Then I tookוָֽאֹחֵ֤זva.'o.ChezH270my concubineבְּפִֽילַגְשִׁי֙be.fi.lag.ShiH6370,cut her into piecesוָֽאֲנַתְּחֶ֔הָva.'a.na.te.Che.haH5408,and sent herוָֽאֲשַׁלְּחֶ֔הָva.'a.sha.le.Che.haH7971throughoutבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the landשְׂדֵ֖הse.DehH7704of Israel’sיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478inheritanceנַחֲלַ֣תna.cha.LatH5159,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588they had committedעָשׂ֛וּ'a.SuH6213a lewdזִמָּ֥הzi.MahH2154and disgraceful actוּנְבָלָ֖הu.ne.va.LahH5039in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

7Beholdהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,allכֻלְּכֶ֖םkhu.le.KhemH3605you Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478,giveהָב֥וּha.VuH3051youradviceדָּבָ֥רda.VarH1697and verdictוְעֵצָ֖הve.'e.TzahH6098here and nowהֲלֹֽם׃ha.LomH1988.”

8Then allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971stoodוַיָּ֙קָם֙vai.Ya.komH6965as oneאֶחָ֖ד'e.ChadH259manכְּאִ֥ישׁke.'IshH376and saidלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Not oneלֹ֤א אִ֣ישׁlo' 'ishH3808 H376of us will returnנֵלֵךְ֙ne.leKhH1980to his tentלְאָהֳל֔וֹ וְלֹ֥אle.'o.ho.Lo ve.Lo'H168 H3808orנָס֖וּר אִ֥ישׁna.Sur 'ishH5493 H376to his houseלְבֵיתֽוֹ׃le.vei.ToH1004.
