9Then the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430went upוַיַּעֲל֣וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927,campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583in Judahבִּיהוּדָ֑הbi.hu.DahH3063,and deployed themselvesוַיִּנָּטְשׁ֖וּvai.yi.na.te.ShuH5203near the town of Lehiבַּלֶּֽחִי׃ba.Le.chiH3896.

10“Whyלָמָ֖הla.MahH4100have you attackedעֲלִיתֶ֣ם'a.li.TemH5927usעָלֵ֑ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921?”saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063.The Philistines repliedוַיֹּאמְר֗וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “We have comeעָלִ֔ינוּ'a.Li.nuH5927to arrestלֶאֱס֤וֹרle.'e.SorH631אֶת־'et-H853Samsonשִׁמְשׁוֹן֙shim.shOnH8123and pay him backלַעֲשׂ֣וֹתla.'a.SotH6213for whatכַּאֲשֶׁ֖רka.'a.SherH834he has doneעָ֥שָׂה'A.sahH6213to us.”

11In response, threeשְׁלֹשֶׁת֩she.lo.ShetH7969thousandאֲלָפִ֨ים'a.la.FimH505menאִ֜ישׁ'ishH376of Judahמִֽיהוּדָ֗הmi.hu.DahH3063wentוַיֵּרְד֡וּvai.ye.re.DuH3381toאֶל־'el-H413the caveסְעִיף֮se.'IfH5585at the rockסֶ֣לַעSe.la'H5553of Etamעֵיטָם֒'ei.TamH5862,and they askedוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559Samsonלְשִׁמְשׁ֗וֹןle.shim.ShonH8123, “Do you notהֲלֹ֤אha.Lo'H3808realizeיָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ya.Da'.taH3045thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430ruleמֹשְׁלִ֥יםmo.she.LimH4910over us?Whatוּמַה־ זֹּ֖אתu.mah- zotH4100 H2063have you doneעָשִׂ֣יתָ'a.Si.taH6213to us?” “I have doneעָ֣שׂוּ'A.suH6213to themwhatכֵּ֖ןkenH3651כַּאֲשֶׁר֙ka.'a.SherH834they didעָשִׂ֥יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213to me,”he repliedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559.

12But they saidוַיֹּ֤אמְרוּvai.Yo.me.ruH559to him, “We have come downיָרַ֔דְנוּya.Rad.nuH3381to arrest youלֶאֱסָרְךָ֣le.'e.sa.re.KhaH631and hand you over toלְתִתְּךָ֖ בְּיַד־le.ti.te.Kha be.yad-H5414 H3027the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑יםpe.lish.TimH6430.”Samsonשִׁמְשׁ֔וֹןshim.ShonH8123repliedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Swearהִשָּׁבְע֣וּhi.sha.ve.'UH7650to meאַתֶּֽם׃'a.TemH859thatפֶּֽן־pen-H6435you will not kill meתִּפְגְּע֥וּןtif.ge.'UnH6293yourselves.”

13“Noלֹ֚אlo'H3808,”they answeredוַיֹּ֧אמְרוּvai.Yo.me.ruH559לֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “we will notוְהָמֵ֖ת לֹ֣אve.ha.Met lo'H3808 H4191kill youנְמִיתֶ֑ךָne.mi.Te.khaH4191,butכִּֽי־ki-H3588we will tie you up securelyH631and hand you over toוּנְתַנּ֣וּךָu.ne.ta.Nu.khaH5414themבְיָדָ֔םve.ya.DamH3027.”So they bound himH631with twoבִּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙bish.Na.yimH8147newחֲדָשִׁ֔יםcha.da.ShimH2319ropesעֲבֹתִ֣ים'a.vo.TimH5688and led him upוַֽיַּעֲל֖וּהוּvai.ya.'a.Lu.huH5927fromמִן־min-H4480the rockהַסָּֽלַע׃ha.Sa.la'H5553.

14Whenהוּא־hu'-H1931Samsonarrivedבָ֣אva'H935inעַד־'ad-H5704Lehiלֶ֔חִיLe.chiH3896,the Philistinesוּפִלְשִׁתִּ֖יםu.fe.lish.TimH6430came out shoutingהֵרִ֣יעוּhe.Ri.'uH7321against himלִקְרָאת֑וֹlik.ra.ToH7122.And the Spiritר֣וּחַRu.achH7307of the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068came mightilyוַתִּצְלַ֨חva.titz.LachH6743upon himעָלָ֜יו'a.LavH5921.The ropesהָעֲבֹתִ֜יםha.'a.vo.TimH5688אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834onעַל־'al-H5921his armsזְרוֹעוֹתָ֗יוze.ro.'o.TavH2220becameוַתִּהְיֶ֨ינָהva.tih.Yei.nahH1961like burntבָּעֲר֣וּ בָאֵ֔שׁba.'a.Ru va.'EshH1197 H784flaxכַּפִּשְׁתִּים֙ka.pish.TimH6593אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834,and the bondsאֱסוּרָ֖יו'e.su.RavH612broke looseוַיִּמַּ֥סּוּvai.yim.Ma.suH4549fromמֵעַ֥לme.'AlH5921his handsיָדָֽיו׃ya.DavH3027.

15He foundוַיִּמְצָ֥אvai.yim.Tza'H4672the freshטְרִיָּ֑הte.ri.YahH2961jawboneלְחִֽי־le.chi-H3895of a donkeyחֲמ֖וֹרcha.MorH2543,reached outוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971his handיָדוֹ֙ya.DoH3027and took itוַיִּקָּחֶ֔הָvai.yi.ka.Che.haH3947,and struck downוַיַּךְ־vai.yakh-H5221a thousandאֶ֥לֶף'E.lefH505menאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376.

16Then Samsonשִׁמְשׁ֔וֹןshim.ShonH8123saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559: “With the jawboneבִּלְחִ֣יbil.ChiH3895of a donkeyהַחֲמ֔וֹרha.cha.MorH2543I have piled themחֲמ֖וֹרcha.MorH2565into heapsחֲמֹרָתָ֑יִםcha.mo.ra.Ta.yimH2565.With the jawboneבִּלְחִ֣יbil.ChiH3895of a donkeyהַחֲמ֔וֹרha.cha.MorH2543I have slainהִכֵּ֖יתִיhi.Kei.tiH5221a thousandאֶ֥לֶף'E.lefH505menאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376.”

17Andוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961when Samson had finishedכְּכַלֹּת֣וֹke.kha.lo.ToH3615speakingלְדַבֵּ֔רle.da.BerH1696,he castוַיַּשְׁלֵ֥ךְvai.yash.LekhH7993the jawboneהַלְּחִ֖יha.le.ChiH3895from his handמִיָּד֑וֹmi.ya.DoH3027;and he namedוַיִּקְרָ֛אvai.yik.Ra'H7121thatהַה֖וּאha.Hu'H1931placeלַמָּק֥וֹםla.ma.KomH4725Ramath-lehiH7437.

18And being veryמְאֹד֒me.'OdH3966thirstyוַיִּצְמָא֮vai.yitz.Ma'H6770, Samsoncried outוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָה֙ וַיֹּאמַ֔רYah.weh vai.yo.MarH3068 H559, “Youאַתָּה֙'a.TahH859have accomplishedנָתַ֣תָּna.Ta.taH5414thisהַזֹּ֑אתha.ZotH2063greatהַגְּדֹלָ֖הha.ge.do.LahH1419deliveranceהַתְּשׁוּעָ֥הha.te.shu.'AhH8668throughבְיַֽד־ve.yad-H3027Your servantעַבְדְּךָ֔'av.de.KhaH5650אֶת־'et-H853.Must I nowוְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258dieאָמ֣וּת'a.MutH4191of thirstבַּצָּמָ֔אba.tza.Ma'H6772and fallוְנָפַלְתִּ֖יve.na.fal.TiH5307into the handsבְּיַ֥דbe.YadH3027of the uncircumcisedהָעֲרֵלִֽים׃ha.'a.re.LimH6189?”

19So Godאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430אֶת־'et-H853opened upוַיִּבְקַ֨עvai.yiv.Ka'H1234the hollow placeהַמַּכְתֵּ֣שׁha.makh.TeshH4388אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834in Lehiבַּלֶּ֗חִיba.Le.chiH3895,and waterמַ֙יִם֙ma.yimH4325came outוַיֵּצְא֨וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318of itמִמֶּ֤נּוּmi.Me.nuH4480.When Samson drankוַיֵּ֔שְׁתְּvai.Ye.shetH8354,his strengthרוּח֖וֹru.ChoH7307returnedוַתָּ֥שָׁבva.Ta.shovH7725,and he was revivedוַיֶּ֑חִיvai.Ye.chiH2421.That is whyעַל־ כֵּ֣ן׀'al- kenH5921 H3651he named itקָרָ֣א שְׁמָ֗הּka.Ra' she.MahH7121 H8034En-hakkoreH5875,and it remainsאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834in Lehiבַּלֶּ֔חִיba.Le.chiH3896toעַ֖ד'adH5704thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.
