2וַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961So whenכַּאֲשֶׁ֤רka.'a.SherH834אֶת־'et-H853Jacob’s sonshad eaten allכִּלּוּ֙ לֶאֱכֹ֣לki.Lu le.'e.KholH3615H398the grainהַשֶּׁ֔בֶרha.She.verH7668אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834they had broughtהֵבִ֖יאוּhe.Vi.'uH935from Egyptמִמִּצְרָ֑יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714,their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֔ם'a.vi.HemH1saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to themאֲלֵיהֶם֙'a.lei.HemH413, “Go backשֻׁ֖בוּShu.vuH7725and buyשִׁבְרוּ־shiv.ru-H7666usa little moreמְעַט־me.'at-H4592foodאֹֽכֶל׃'O.khelH400.”
3But Judahוַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוּדָ֖הvai.Yo.mer ye.hu.DahH3063H559repliedאֵלָ֛יו לֵאמֹ֑ר'e.Lav le.MorH559H413, “The manהָאִ֤ישׁ לֵאמֹר֙ha.'Ish le.MorH376H559solemnly warnedH5749us, ‘You will notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808seeתִרְא֣וּtir.'UH7200my faceפָנַ֔יfa.NaiH6440again unlessבִּלְתִּ֖יbil.TiH1115your brotherאֲחִיכֶ֥ם'a.chi.KhemH251is with youאִתְּכֶֽם׃'i.te.KhemH854.’
5But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518you will notאֵינְךָ֥'ei.ne.KhaH369send himמְשַׁלֵּ֖חַme.sha.Le.achH7971,we will notלֹ֣אlo'H3808goנֵרֵ֑דne.RedH3381;forכִּֽי־ki-H3588the manהָאִ֞ישׁha.'IshH376toldאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559usאֵלֵ֙ינוּ֙'e.Lei.nuH413, ‘You will notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808seeתִרְא֣וּtir.'UH7200my faceפָנַ֔יfa.NaiH6440again unlessבִּלְתִּ֖יbil.TiH1115your brotherאֲחִיכֶ֥ם'a.chi.KhemH251is with youאִתְּכֶֽם׃'i.te.KhemH854.’”
7They repliedוַיֹּאמְר֡וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “The manהָ֠אִישׁHa.'ishH376questionedשָׁא֣וֹלsha.'olH7592usin detailשָֽׁאַל־sha.'al-H7592about ourselves and our familyוּלְמֽוֹלַדְתֵּ֜נוּu.le.mo.lad.Te.nuH4138לֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559: ‘Is your fatherאֲבִיכֶ֥ם'a.vi.KhemH1stillהַע֨וֹדha.'odH5750aliveחַי֙chaiH2416?Do you haveהֲיֵ֣שׁha.YeshH3426another brotherאָ֔ח'AchH251?’And we answeredוַנַ֨גֶּד־va.Na.ged-H5046himaccordinglyעַל־ פִּ֖י הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה'al- pi ha.de.va.Rim ha.'E.lehH5921H6310H1697H428.How could we possibly knowH3045thatכִּ֣יkiH3588he would sayיֹאמַ֔רyo.MarH559, ‘Bringהוֹרִ֖ידוּho.Ri.duH3381אֶת־'et-H853your brother hereאֲחִיכֶֽם׃'a.chi.KhemH251’?”
8And Judahיְהוּדָ֜הye.hu.DahH3063saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413his fatherאָבִ֗יו'a.VivH1Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֣לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “Sendשִׁלְחָ֥הshil.ChahH7971the boyהַנַּ֛עַרha.Na.'arH5288with meאִתִּ֖י'i.TiH854,and we will go at onceוְנָק֣וּמָה וְנֵלֵ֑כָהve.na.Ku.mah ve.ne.Le.khahH6965H1980,so that we may liveוְנִֽחְיֶה֙ve.nich.YehH2421and notוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808dieנָמ֔וּת גַּם־na.Mut gam-H4191H1571—neither weאֲנַ֥חְנוּ גַם־'a.Nach.nu gam-H587H1571,nor youאַתָּ֖ה גַּם־'a.Tah gam-H859H1571,nor our childrenטַפֵּֽנוּ׃ta.Pe.nuH2945.
9Iאָֽנֹכִי֙'a.no.KhiH595will guarantee his safetyאֶֽעֶרְבֶ֔נּוּ'e.'er.Ve.nuH6148.You may hold meתְּבַקְשֶׁ֑נּוּte.vak.She.nuH1245personally responsibleמִיָּדִ֖יmi.ya.DiH3027.Ifאִם־'im-H518I do notלֹ֨אlo'H3808bring him backהֲבִיאֹתִ֤יוha.vi.'o.TivH935אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙'e.Lei.khaH413and set himוְהִצַּגְתִּ֣יוve.hi.tzag.TivH3322before youלְפָנֶ֔יךָle.fa.Nei.khaH6440, then may Ibear the guilt before youוְחָטָ֥אתִֽיve.cha.Ta.tiH2398all my lifeכָּל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃kol- hai.ya.MimH3605H3117.
11Then their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֗ם'a.vi.HemH1Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֣לYis.ra.'ElH3478saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to themאֲלֵהֶ֜ם'a.le.HemH413, “Ifאִם־'im-H518it must be soכֵּ֣ן׀kenH3651,thenאֵפוֹא֮'e.fO'H645doעֲשׂוּ֒'a.SuH6213thisזֹ֣אתzotH2063:Putקְח֞וּke.ChuH3947some of the best productsמִזִּמְרַ֤תmi.zim.RatH2173of the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776in your packsבִּכְלֵיכֶ֔םbikh.lei.KhemH3627and carry them downוְהוֹרִ֥ידוּve.ho.Ri.duH3381as a giftמִנְחָ֑הmin.ChahH4503for the manלָאִ֖ישׁla.'IshH376—a littleמְעַ֤טme.'AtH4592balmצֳרִי֙tzo.RiH6875and a littleוּמְעַ֣טu.me.'AtH4592honeyדְּבַ֔שׁde.VashH1706,spicesנְכֹ֣אתne.KhotH5219and myrrhוָלֹ֔טva.LotH3910,pistachiosבָּטְנִ֖יםba.te.NimH992and almondsוּשְׁקֵדִֽים׃u.she.ke.DimH8247.
12Takeקְח֣וּke.ChuH3947doubleמִשְׁנֶ֖הmish.NehH4932the silverוְכֶ֥סֶףve.Khe.sefH3701with youבְיֶדְכֶ֑םve.yed.KhemH3027so thatוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853you may returnהַמּוּשָׁ֨בha.mu.ShavH7725the silverהַכֶּ֜סֶףha.Ke.sefH3701that was put backתָּשִׁ֣יבוּ בְיֶדְכֶ֔םta.Shi.vu ve.yed.KhemH7725H3027into the mouthsבְּפִ֤יbe.FiH6310of your sacksאַמְתְּחֹֽתֵיכֶם֙'am.te.cho.tei.KhemH572.Perhapsאוּלַ֥י'u.LaiH194itהֽוּא׃Hu'H1931was a mistakeמִשְׁגֶּ֖הmish.GehH4870.

15So the menהָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ha.'a.na.ShimH582אֶת־'et-H853tookוַיִּקְח֤וּvai.yik.ChuH3947theseהַזֹּ֔אתha.ZotH2063giftsהַמִּנְחָ֣הha.min.ChahH4503,along with doubleוּמִשְׁנֶה־u.mish.neh-H4932the amount of silverכֶּ֛סֶף לָקְח֥וּ בְיָדָ֖םKe.sef la.ke.Chu ve.ya.DamH3701H3947H3027,andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853Benjamin as wellבִּנְיָמִ֑ןbin.ya.MinH1144.Then they hurried downוַיָּקֻ֙מוּ֙ וַיֵּרְד֣וּvai.ya.Ku.mu vai.ye.re.DuH6965H3381to Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714and stoodוַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּvai.ya.'am.DuH5975beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440Josephיוֹסֵֽף׃yo.SefH3130.
