Genesis 30:1-8

1When Rachelרָחֵ֗לra.ChelH7354sawוַתֵּ֣רֶאva.Te.re'H7200thatכִּ֣יkiH3588she was notלֹ֤אlo'H3808bearingיָֽלְדָה֙yal.DahH3205any childrenרָחֵ֖לra.ChelH7354for Jacobלְיַעֲקֹ֔בle.ya.'a.KoH3290,she enviedוַתְּקַנֵּ֥אva.te.ka.Ne'H7065her sisterבַּאֲחֹתָ֑הּba.'a.cho.TahH269. “Giveהָֽבָה־ha.vah-H3051mechildrenבָנִ֔יםva.NimH1121,orוְאִם־ אַ֖יִןve.'im- 'A.yinH518 H369Iאָנֹֽכִי׃'a.No.khiH595will dieמֵתָ֥הme.TahH4191!”she saidוַתֹּ֤אמֶרva.To.merH559toאֶֽל־'el-H413Jacobיַעֲקֹב֙ya.'a.KoH3290.

2Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290became angryוַיִּֽחַר־ אַ֥ףvai.yi.char- 'afH2734 H639with Rachelבְּרָחֵ֑לbe.ra.ChelH7354and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Am Iאָנֹ֔כִי'a.No.khiH595in the placeהֲתַ֤חַתha.Ta.chatH8478of Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430,whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834has withheldמָנַ֥עma.Na'H4513childrenפְּרִי־ בָֽטֶן׃pe.ri- Va.tenH6529 H990from youמִמֵּ֖ךְmi.MekhH4480?”

3Then she saidוַתֹּ֕אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Hereהִנֵּ֛הhi.NehH2009is my maidservantאֲמָתִ֥י'a.ma.TiH519Bilhahבִלְהָ֖הvil.HahH1090.Sleep withבֹּ֣אbo'H935herאֵלֶ֑יהָ'e.Lei.haH413,that she may bear childrenוְתֵלֵד֙ve.te.LedH3205for meעַל־ בִּרְכַּ֔י'al- bir.KaiH5921 H1290,so that through herמִמֶּֽנָּה׃mi.Me.nahH4480Iאָנֹכִ֖י'a.no.KhiH595tooגַם־gam-H1571can build a familyוְאִבָּנֶ֥הve.'i.ba.NehH1129.”

4So Rachel gaveוַתִּתֶּן־va.ti.ten-H5414Jacobאֶת־'et-H853her servantשִׁפְחָתָ֖הּshif.cha.TahH8198Bilhahבִּלְהָ֥הbil.HahH1090as a wifeלְאִשָּׁ֑הle.'i.ShahH802,andיַעֲקֹֽב׃ya.'a.KoH3290heslept withוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935herאֵלֶ֖יהָ'e.Lei.haH413,

5and Bilhahבִּלְהָ֔הbil.HahH1090conceivedוַתַּ֣הַרva.Ta.harH2029and boreוַתֵּ֥לֶדva.Te.ledH3205himלְיַעֲקֹ֖בle.ya.'a.KoH3290a sonבֵּֽן׃BenH1121.

6Then Rachelרָחֵל֙ra.ChelH7354saidוַתֹּ֤אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430has vindicated meדָּנַ֣נִּיda.Na.niH1777וְגַם֙ve.GamH1571;He has heardשָׁמַ֣עsha.Ma'H8085my pleaבְּקֹלִ֔יbe.ko.LiH6963and givenוַיִּתֶּן־vai.yi.ten-H5414mea sonבֵּ֑ן עַל־ כֵּ֛ןBen 'al- kenH1121 H5921 H3651.”So she named himקָרְאָ֥ה שְׁמ֖וֹka.re.'Ah she.MoH7121 H8034Danדָּֽן׃DanH1835.

7And Rachel’sרָחֵ֑לra.ChelH7354servantשִׁפְחַ֣תshif.ChatH8198Bilhahבִּלְהָ֖הbil.HahH1090conceivedוַתַּ֣הַרva.Ta.harH2029againע֔וֹדodH5750and boreוַתֵּ֕לֶדva.Te.ledH3205Jacobלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃le.ya.'a.KoH3290a secondשֵׁנִ֖יshe.NiH8145sonבֵּ֥ןbenH1121.

8Then Rachelרָחֵ֗לra.ChelH7354saidוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559, “In my great strugglesנַפְתּוּלֵ֨י אֱלֹהִ֧ים׀naf.tu.Lei 'E.lo.HimH5319 H430,I have wrestledנִפְתַּ֛לְתִּיnif.Tal.tiH6617withעִם־'im-H5973my sisterאֲחֹתִ֖י'a.cho.TiH269andגַּם־gam-H1571wonיָכֹ֑לְתִּיya.Kho.le.tiH3201.”So she namedוַתִּקְרָ֥אva.tik.Ra'H7121himשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034Naphtaliנַפְתָּלִֽי׃naf.ta.LiH5321.
