10Meanwhile Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290leftוַיֵּצֵ֥אvai.ye.Tze'H3318מִבְּאֵ֣רmi.be.'ErH884Beershebaשָׁ֑בַעSha.va'H884and set out forוַיֵּ֖לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980Haranחָרָֽנָה׃cha.Ra.nahH2771.

11On reachingוַיִּפְגַּ֨עvai.yif.Ga'H6293a certain placeבַּמָּק֜וֹםba.ma.KomH4725,he spent the nightוַיָּ֤לֶןvai.Ya.lenH3885thereשָׁם֙shamH8033becauseכִּי־ki-H3588the sunהַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁha.She.meshH8121had setבָ֣אva'H935.And takingוַיִּקַּח֙vai.yi.KachH3947one of the stonesמֵאַבְנֵ֣יme.'av.NeiH68from that placeהַמָּק֔וֹםha.ma.KomH4725,he putוַיָּ֖שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760it under his headמְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֑יוme.ra.'a.sho.TavH4763and lay downוַיִּשְׁכַּ֖בvai.yish.KavH7901to sleepבַּמָּק֥וֹם הַהֽוּא׃ba.ma.Kom ha.Hu'H1931 H4725.

12And Jacob had a dreamוַֽיַּחֲלֹ֗םvai.ya.cha.LomH2492aboutוְהִנֵּ֤הve.hi.NehH2009a ladderסֻלָּם֙su.LamH5551that restedמֻצָּ֣בmu.TzavH5324on the earthאַ֔רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776with its topוְרֹאשׁ֖וֹve.ro.ShoH7218reachingמַגִּ֣יעַma.Gi.a'H5060up to heavenהַשָּׁמָ֑יְמָה וְהִנֵּה֙ha.sha.Ma.ye.mah ve.hi.NehH8064 H2009,and God’sאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430angelsמַלְאֲכֵ֣יmal.'a.KheiH4397were going upעֹלִ֥ים'o.LimH5927and downוְיֹרְדִ֖יםve.yo.re.DimH3381the ladder.

13And thereוְהִנֵּ֨הve.hi.NehH2009at the topעָלָיו֮'a.LavH5921the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068was standingנִצָּ֣בni.TzavH5324and sayingוַיֹּאמַר֒vai.yo.MarH559, “Iאֲנִ֣י'a.NiH589am the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵי֙'e.lo.HeiH430of your fatherאָבִ֔יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֣ם'av.ra.HamH85and the Godוֵאלֹהֵ֖יve.lo.HeiH430of Isaacיִצְחָ֑קyitz.ChakH3327.I will give youאֶתְּנֶ֖נָּה'et.te.Ne.nahH5414and your descendantsוּלְזַרְעֶֽךָ׃u.le.zar.'E.khaH2233the landהָאָ֗רֶץha.'A.retzH776on whichאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834youאַתָּה֙'a.TahH859now lieשֹׁכֵ֣ב עָלֶ֔יהָsho.Khev 'a.Lei.haH7901 H5921.

14Your descendantsזַרְעֲךָ֙zar.'a.KhaH2233will beוְהָיָ֤הve.ha.YahH1961like the dustכַּעֲפַ֣רka.'a.FarH6083of the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776,and you will spread outוּפָרַצְתָּ֛u.fa.ratz.TaH6555to the westיָ֥מָּהYa.mahH3220and eastוָקֵ֖דְמָהva.Ke.de.mahH6924and northוְצָפֹ֣נָהve.tza.Fo.nahH6828and southוָנֶ֑גְבָּהva.Neg.bahH5045.Allכָּל־kol-H3605the familiesמִשְׁפְּחֹ֥תmish.pe.ChotH4940of the earthהָאֲדָמָ֖הha.'a.da.MahH127will be blessedוְנִבְרֲכ֥וּve.niv.ra.KhuH1288through youand your offspringוּבְזַרְעֶֽךָ׃u.ve.zar.'E.khaH2233.

15Lookוְהִנֵּ֨הve.hi.NehH2009,Iאָנֹכִ֜י'a.no.KhiH595am with youעִמָּ֗ךְ'i.MakhH5973,and I will watch over youוּשְׁמַרְתִּ֙יךָ֙u.she.mar.Ti.khaH8104whereverבְּכֹ֣לbe.KholH3605אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you goתֵּלֵ֔ךְte.LekhH1980,and I will bring you backוַהֲשִׁ֣בֹתִ֔יךָva.ha.Shi.vo.Ti.khaH7725toאֶל־'el-H413thisהַזֹּ֑אתha.ZotH2063landהָאֲדָמָ֖הha.'a.da.MahH127.Forכִּ֚יkiH3588I will notלֹ֣אlo'H3808leaveאֶֽעֱזָבְךָ֔'e.'e.za.ve.KhaH5800you untilעַ֚ד'adH5704אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834אִם־'im-H518I have doneעָשִׂ֔יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213אֵ֥ת'etH853whatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I have promisedדִּבַּ֖רְתִּיdi.Bar.tiH1696you.”

16When Jacobיַעֲקֹב֮ya.'a.KoH3290woke upוַיִּיקַ֣ץ מִשְּׁנָתוֹ֒vai.yi.Katz mi.she.na.ToH3364 H8142,he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Surelyאָכֵן֙'a.KhenH403the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068isיֵ֣שׁyeshH3426in thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088placeבַּמָּק֖וֹםba.ma.KomH4725,and Iוְאָנֹכִ֖יve.'a.no.KhiH595was unaware of itלֹ֥א יָדָֽעְתִּי׃lo' ya.Da.'e.tiH3808 H3045.”

17And he was afraidוַיִּירָא֙vai.yi.Ra'H3372and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559, “Howמַה־mah-H4100awesomeנּוֹרָ֖אno.Ra'H3372isthisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088placeהַמָּק֣וֹםha.ma.KomH4725!Thisזֶ֗הZehH2088is noneאֵ֣ין'einH369other thanכִּ֚י אִם־ki 'im-H3588 H518the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430;thisוְזֶ֖הve.ZehH2088is the gateשַׁ֥עַרSha.'arH8179of heavenהַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ha.sha.Ma.yimH8064!”

18Earlyוַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨םvai.yash.KemH7925the next morningבַּבֹּ֗קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242,Jacobיַעֲקֹ֜בya.'a.KoH3290tookוַיִּקַּ֤חvai.yi.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853the stoneהָאֶ֙בֶן֙ha.'E.venH68thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he had placedשָׂ֣םsamH7760under his headמְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֔יוme.ra.'a.sho.TavH4763אֹתָ֖הּ'o.TahH853,and he set it upוַיָּ֥שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760as a pillarמַצֵּבָ֑הma.tze.VahH4676.He pouredוַיִּצֹ֥קvai.yi.TzokH3332oilשֶׁ֖מֶןShe.menH8081onעַל־'al-H5921top of itרֹאשָֽׁהּ׃ro.ShahH7218,

19and he calledוַיִּקְרָ֛אvai.yik.Ra'H7121אֶת־'et-H853שֵֽׁם־shem-H8034thatהַה֖וּאha.Hu'H1931placeהַמָּק֥וֹםha.ma.KomH4725BethelH1008,thoughוְאוּלָ֛םve.'u.LamH199previouslyלָרִאשֹׁנָֽה׃la.ri.sho.NahH7223the cityהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892had been namedשֵׁם־shem-H8034Luzל֥וּזluzH3870.

20Then Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290madeוַיִּדַּ֥רvai.yi.DarH5087a vowנֶ֣דֶרNe.derH5088,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518Godאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430will beיִהְיֶ֨הyih.YehH1961with meעִמָּדִ֗י'i.ma.DiH5978and watch over meוּשְׁמָרַ֙נִי֙u.she.ma.Ra.niH8104on thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834אָנֹכִ֣י'a.no.KhiH595הוֹלֵ֔ךְho.LekhH1980journeyבַּדֶּ֤רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870,and if He will provideוְנָֽתַן־ve.na.tan-H5414mewith foodלֶ֛חֶםLe.chemH3899to eatלֶאֱכֹ֖לle.'e.KholH398and clothesוּבֶ֥גֶדu.Ve.gedH899to wearלִלְבֹּֽשׁ׃lil.BoshH3847,

21so that I may returnוְשַׁבְתִּ֥יve.shav.TiH7725safelyבְשָׁל֖וֹםve.sha.LomH7965toאֶל־'el-H413my father’sאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004,then the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068will beוְהָיָ֧הve.ha.YahH1961myGodלֵאלֹהִֽים׃le.lo.HimH430.

22And thisהַזֹּ֗אתha.ZotH2063stoneוְהָאֶ֣בֶןve.ha.'E.venH68אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I have set upשַׂ֙מְתִּי֙sam.tiH7760as a pillarמַצֵּבָ֔הma.tze.VahH4676will beיִהְיֶ֖הyih.YehH1961God’sאֱלֹהִ֑ים'E.lo.HimH430houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004,and of allוְכֹל֙ve.KholH3605thatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834You giveתִּתֶּן־ti.ten-H5414meI will surely give You a tenthH6237.”
