2“Lookהִנֵּה־hi.neh-H2009,”saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Isaac, “I am nowנָ֖אna'H4994oldזָקַ֑נְתִּיza.Kan.tiH2204,and I do notלֹ֥אlo'H3808knowיָדַ֖עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045the dayי֥וֹםYomH3117of my deathמוֹתִֽי׃mo.TiH4194.

3וְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258Takeשָׂא־ נָ֣אsa'- na'H5375 H4994your weaponsכֵלֶ֔יךָkhe.Lei.khaH3627—your quiverתֶּלְיְךָ֖tel.ye.KhaH8522and bowוְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָve.kash.Te.chaH7198—and go outוְצֵא֙ve.Tze'H3318into the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704to huntוְצ֥וּדָהve.Tzu.dahH6679some gameצָֽיִד׃tzeidH6718for me.

4Then prepareוַעֲשֵׂה־va.'a.seh-H6213a tasty dishמַטְעַמִּ֜יםmat.'a.MimH4303thatכַּאֲשֶׁ֥רka.'a.SherH834I loveאָהַ֛בְתִּי'a.Hav.tiH157and bringוְהָבִ֥יאָהve.ha.Vi.'ahH935it to meto eatוְאֹכֵ֑לָהve.'o.Khe.lahH398,so thatבַּעֲב֛וּרba.'a.VurH5668Iנַפְשִׁ֖יnaf.ShiH5315may blessתְּבָרֶכְךָ֥te.va.rekh.KhaH1288you beforeבְּטֶ֥רֶםbe.Te.remH2962I dieאָמֽוּת׃'a.MutH4191.”

5Now Rebekahוְרִבְקָ֣הve.riv.KahH7259was listeningשֹׁמַ֔עַתsho.Ma.'atH8085to what Isaacיִצְחָ֔קyitz.ChakH3327toldבְּדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־be.da.Ber 'el-H1696 H413his sonבְּנ֑וֹbe.NoH1121Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215.So when Esauעֵשָׂו֙'e.SavH6215wentוַיֵּ֤לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980into the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704to huntלָצ֥וּדla.TzudH6679gameצַ֖יִדTza.yidH6718andbringלְהָבִֽיא׃le.ha.Vi'H935it back,

7‘Bringהָבִ֨יאָהha.Vi.'ahH935mesome gameצַ֛יִדTza.yidH6718and prepareוַעֲשֵׂה־va.'a.seh-H6213mea tasty dishמַטְעַמִּ֖יםmat.'a.MimH4303to eatוְאֹכֵ֑לָהve.'o.Khe.lahH398,so that I may bless youוַאֲבָרֶכְכָ֛הva.'a.va.rekh.KhahH1288in the presenceלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440I dieמוֹתִֽי׃mo.TiH4194.’

8Nowוְעַתָּ֥הve.'a.TahH6258,my sonבְנִ֖יve.NiH1121,listen toשְׁמַ֣עshe.Ma'H8085my voiceבְּקֹלִ֑יbe.ko.LiH6963and do exactly asלַאֲשֶׁ֥רla.'a.SherH834Iאֲנִ֖י'a.NiH589tellמְצַוָּ֥הme.tza.VahH6680youאֹתָֽךְ׃'o.TakhH853.

9Go outלֶךְ־ נָא֙lekh- na'H1980 H4994toאֶל־'el-H413the flockהַצֹּ֔אןha.TzonH6629and bringוְקַֽח־ve.kach-H3947meמִשָּׁ֗םmi.ShamH8033twoשְׁנֵ֛יshe.NeiH8147choiceטֹבִ֑יםto.VimH2896young goatsגְּדָיֵ֥י עִזִּ֖יםge.da.Yei 'i.ZimH1423 H5795,so that I can makeוְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨הve.'e.'e.SehH6213themאֹתָ֧ם'o.TamH853into a tasty dishמַטְעַמִּ֛יםmat.'a.MimH4303for your fatherלְאָבִ֖יךָle.'a.Vi.khaH1—the kindכַּאֲשֶׁ֥רka.'a.SherH834he lovesאָהֵֽב׃'a.HevH157.

10Then takeוְהֵבֵאתָ֥ve.he.ve.TaH935it to your fatherלְאָבִ֖יךָle.'a.Vi.khaH1to eatוְאָכָ֑לve.'a.KhalH398,so thatבַּעֲבֻ֛רba.'a.VurH5668אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he may blessיְבָרֶכְךָ֖ye.va.rekh.KhaH1288you beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440he diesמוֹתֽוֹ׃mo.ToH4194.”

11Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔ב אֶל־ya.'a.Ko 'el-H3290 H413answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559his motherאִמּ֑וֹ'i.MoH517Rebekahרִבְקָ֖הriv.KahH7259, “Lookהֵ֣ןhenH2005,my brotherאָחִי֙'a.ChiH251Esauעֵשָׂ֤ו'e.SavH6215is a hairyשָׂעִ֔רsa.'IrH8163manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376,but I amוְאָנֹכִ֖י אִ֥ישׁve.'a.no.Khi 'ishH595 H376smooth-skinnedחָלָֽק׃cha.LakH2509.

12What ifאוּלַ֤י'u.LaiH194my fatherאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1touches meיְמֻשֵּׁ֙נִי֙ye.mu.She.niH4959?Then I would be revealedוְהָיִ֥יתִיve.ha.Yi.tiH1961to himבְעֵינָ֖יוve.'ei.NavH5869as a deceiverכִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַkim.ta'.Te.a'H8591,and I would bringוְהֵבֵאתִ֥יve.he.ve.TiH935upon myselfעָלַ֛י'a.LaiH5921a curseקְלָלָ֖הke.la.LahH7045rather thanוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808a blessingבְרָכָֽה׃ve.ra.KhahH1293.”

13His motherאִמּ֔וֹ'i.MoH517repliedוַתֹּ֤אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Your curseקִלְלָתְךָ֖ki.la.te.ChaH7045be on meעָלַ֥י'a.LaiH5921,my sonבְּנִ֑יbe.NiH1121.Justאַ֛ךְ'akhH389obeyשְׁמַ֥עshe.Ma'H8085my voiceבְּקֹלִ֖יbe.ko.LiH6963and goוְלֵ֥ךְve.LekhH1980get themקַֽח־kach-H3947for me.”

14So Jacob wentוַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙vai.Ye.lekhH1980and gotוַיִּקַּ֔חvai.yi.KachH3947two goatsand brought themוַיָּבֵ֖אvai.ya.Ve'H935to his motherלְאִמּ֑וֹle.'i.MoH517,whoאִמּוֹ֙'i.MoH517madeוַתַּ֤עַשׂva.Ta.'asH6213the tasty foodמַטְעַמִּ֔יםmat.'a.MimH4303כַּאֲשֶׁ֖רka.'a.SherH834his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1lovedאָהֵ֥ב'a.HevH157.

15And Rebekahרִ֠בְקָהRiv.kahH7259אֶת־'et-H853tookוַתִּקַּ֣חva.ti.KachH3947the finestהַחֲמֻדֹ֔תha.cha.mu.DotH2532clothesבִּגְדֵ֨יbig.DeiH899in the houseבַּבָּ֑יִתba.Ba.yitH1004thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834belongedאִתָּ֖הּ'i.TahH854to her olderהַגָּדֹל֙ha.ga.DolH1419sonבְּנָ֤הּbe.NahH1121Esauעֵשָׂ֜ו'e.SavH6215,and she put them onוַתַּלְבֵּ֥שׁva.tal.BeshH3847her youngerהַקָּטָֽן׃ha.ka.TanH6996sonבְּנָ֥הּbe.NahH1121Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290אֶֽת־'et-H853.

16She also putוְאֵ֗ת הִלְבִּ֖ישָׁהve.'Et hil.Bi.shahH853 H3847the skinsעֹרֹת֙'o.RotH5785of the youngגְּדָיֵ֣יge.da.YeiH1423goatsהָֽעִזִּ֔יםha.'i.ZimH5795onעַל־'al-H5921his handsיָדָ֑יוya.DavH3027and onוְעַ֖לve.'AlH5921the smooth partחֶלְקַ֥תchel.KatH2513of his neckצַוָּארָֽיו׃tza.va.RavH6677.

17Thenאֶת־'et-H853she handedוַתִּתֵּ֧ן בְּיַ֖דva.ti.Ten be.YadH5414 H3027her sonבְּנָֽהּ׃be.NahH1121Jacobיַעֲקֹ֥בya.'a.KoH3290the tasty foodהַמַּטְעַמִּ֛יםha.mat.'a.MimH4303וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and breadהַלֶּ֖חֶםha.Le.chemH3899אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834she had madeעָשָׂ֑תָה'a.Sa.tahH6213.

18So Jacob wentוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “My fatherאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1.” “Here I amהִנֶּ֔נִּיhi.Ne.niH2009!”he answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “Which oneמִ֥יmiH4310are youאַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH859,my sonבְּנִֽי׃be.NiH1121?”

19Jacobיַעֲקֹ֜בya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413his fatherאָבִ֗יו'a.VivH1, “Iאָנֹכִי֙'a.no.KhiH595am Esauעֵשָׂ֣ו'e.SavH6215,your firstbornבְּכֹרֶ֔ךָbe.kho.Rekh.khaH1060.I have doneעָשִׂ֕יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213asכַּאֲשֶׁ֥רka.'a.SherH834you told meדִּבַּ֖רְתָּ אֵלָ֑יdi.Bar.ta 'e.LaiH1696 H413.Pleaseקֽוּם־ נָ֣אkum- na'H4994 H6965sit upשְׁבָ֗הshe.VahH3427and eatוְאָכְלָה֙ve.'a.khe.LahH398some of my gameמִצֵּידִ֔יmi.tzei.DiH6718,so thatבַּעֲב֖וּרba.'a.VurH5668youנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃naf.She.khaH5315may bless meתְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּיte.va.ra.Kha.niH1288.”

20But Isaacיִצְחָק֙yitz.ChakH3327askedוַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֶל־vai.Yo.mer 'el-H559 H413his sonבְּנ֔וֹbe.NoH1121, “Howמַה־mah-H4100did you ever findלִמְצֹ֖אlim.Tzo'H4672it soזֶּ֛הzehH2088quicklyמִהַ֥רְתָּmi.Har.taH4116,my sonבְּנִ֑יbe.NiH1121?” “Becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588the LORDיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430broughtהִקְרָ֛הhik.RahH7136itto meלְפָנָֽי׃le.fa.NaiH6440,”he repliedוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559.

21Then Isaacיִצְחָק֙yitz.ChakH3327saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶֽל־'el-H413Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290, “Pleaseנָּ֥אna'H4994come closerגְּשָׁה־ge.shah-H5066so I can touch youוַאֲמֻֽשְׁךָ֖va.'a.mush.KhaH4184,my sonבְּנִ֑יbe.NiH1121.Are youהַֽאַתָּ֥הha.'a.TahH859reallyזֶ֛הzehH2088my sonבְּנִ֥יbe.NiH1121Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215,orאִם־'im-H518notלֹֽא׃Lo'H3808?”

22So Jacobיַעֲקֹ֛בya.'a.KoH3290came closeוַיִּגַּ֧שׁvai.yi.GashH5066toאֶל־'el-H413his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1Isaacיִצְחָ֥קyitz.ChakH3327,who touched himוַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּvay.mu.She.huH4959and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “The voiceהַקֹּל֙ha.KolH6963is the voiceק֣וֹלKolH6963of Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290,but the handsוְהַיָּדַ֖יִםve.hai.ya.Da.yimH3027are the handsיְדֵ֥יye.DeiH3027of Esauעֵשָֽׂו׃'e.SavH6215.”

23Isaacdid notוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808recognize himהִכִּיר֔וֹhi.ki.RoH5234,becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588his handsיָדָ֗יוya.DavH3027wereהָי֣וּha.YuH1961hairyשְׂעִרֹ֑תse.'i.RotH8163like thoseכִּידֵ֛יki.DeiH3027of his brotherאָחִ֖יו'a.ChivH251Esauעֵשָׂ֥ו'e.SavH6215;so he blessed himוַֽיְבָרְכֵֽהוּ׃Vay.va.re.Khe.huH1288.

24Again he askedוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Are youאַתָּ֥ה'a.TahH859reallyזֶ֖הzehH2088my sonבְּנִ֣יbe.NiH1121Esauעֵשָׂ֑ו'e.SavH6215?”And he repliedוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “I amאָֽנִי׃'A.niH589.”

25“Serveהַגִּ֤שָׁהha.Gi.shahH5066me,”saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Isaac, “and let me eatוְאֹֽכְלָה֙ve.'o.khe.LahH398some of my son’sבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121gameמִצֵּ֣ידmi.TzeidH6718,so thatלְמַ֥עַןle.Ma.'anH4616Iנַפְשִׁ֑יnaf.ShiH5315may bless youתְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֖te.va.rekh.KhaH1288.”Jacob brought itוַיַּגֶּשׁ־vai.ya.gesh-H5066to him,and he ateוַיֹּאכַ֔לvai.yo.KhalH398;then he broughtוַיָּ֧בֵאvai.Ya.ve'H935himwineיַ֖יִןYa.yinH3196,and he drankוַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ׃vai.Ye.shetH8354.

26Then his fatherאָבִ֑יו'a.VivH1Isaacיִצְחָ֣קyitz.ChakH3327saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to himאֵלָ֖יו'e.LavH413, “Pleaseנָּ֥אna'H4994come nearגְּשָׁה־ge.shah-H5066and kissוּשְׁקָה־u.she.kah-H5401me,my sonבְּנִֽי׃be.NiH1121.”

27So he came nearוַיִּגַּשׁ֙vai.yi.GashH5066and kissedוַיִּשַּׁק־vai.yi.shak-H5401him.When Isaac smelledוַיָּ֛רַחvai.Ya.rachH7306אֶת־'et-H853רֵ֥יחַRei.achH7381his clothingבְּגָדָ֖יוbe.ga.DavH899,he blessed himוַֽיְבָרֲכֵ֑הוּvay.va.ra.Khe.huH1288and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559: “Ahרְאֵה֙re.'EhH7200,the smellרֵ֣יחַRei.achH7381of my sonבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121is like the smellכְּרֵ֣יחַke.Rei.achH7381of a fieldשָׂדֶ֔הsa.DehH7704thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068has blessedבֵּרֲכ֖וֹbe.ra.KhoH1288.

28May Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430giveוְיִֽתֶּן־ve.yi.ten-H5414to youthe dewמִטַּל֙mi.TalH2919of heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and the richnessוּמִשְׁמַנֵּ֖יu.mish.ma.NeiH4924of the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776—an abundanceוְרֹ֥בve.RoH7230of grainדָּגָ֖ןda.GanH1715and new wineוְתִירֹֽשׁ׃ve.ti.RoshH8492.

29May peoplesעַמִּ֗ים'a.MimH5971serve youיַֽעַבְד֣וּךָya.'av.Du.khaH5647and nationsלְאֻמִּ֔יםle.'u.MimH3816bow downוְיִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֤וּve.yish.ta.chuH7812to you.May you beהֱוֵ֤הhe.VehH1933the masterגְבִיר֙ge.VirH1376of your brothersלְאַחֶ֔יךָle.'a.Chei.khaH251,and may the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of your motherאִמֶּ֑ךָ'i.Me.khaH517bow downוְיִשְׁתַּחֲוּ֥וּve.yish.ta.cha.VuH7812to you.May those who curse youאֹרְרֶ֣יךָ'o.re.Rei.khaH779be cursedאָר֔וּר'a.RurH779,and those who bless youוּֽמְבָרֲכֶ֖יךָu.me.va.ra.Khei.khaH1288be blessedבָּרֽוּךְ׃ba.RukhH1288.”
